AMC 19th St. East 6 reviews
20Nice update and refurb plus comfortable seats.now get that done to the disgusting seats at 42nd Street AMC!
I get to come here on a special day when everywhere the movie tickets were only 4$! Can’t beat that.
Service was good, but I just didn’t like how this theater looks. Very weirdly designed! I had been through a lots of movie theaters & so far this one just bugged me! Because of how suffocating this place is!
The place was clean, restrooms were clean too. That’s a plus.
I just discovered this AMC and I'm obsessed, EXCEPT for the fact the chairs don't recline all the way back so you're feet can't go up far. Someone who is a physiologist tell me why that makes my feet some uncomfortable please.
Went there on Sunday August 27th, 2023 where the tickets are $4 each. The seat can be adjusted. Got penalty of space. It was very clean.
My main complaint: the speakers were absurdly loud, over 100 decibels. As a practicing SLP, I know that at this decibel level, even 5 minutes of exposure to the sound will cause permanent hearing damage (noise-induced hearing loss / NIHL). The movie was at least 120 minutes long, which means hearing damage x24, and once the hearing damage occurs, we *never* get it back.
As a practicing SLP, I have worked with many clients who have lost or are losing their hearing, and I know very well the value of preserving it. Hearing aids do not repair hearing loss. Once you start losing your hearing, you will never perceive sound the same way again.
Unfortunately, prolonged exposure to sound over 70 decibels causes damage to hearing over time. Even a 5-minute period of exposure to 100 decibels will cause immediate damage. The louder the sound, the shorter the amount of time it takes for noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL) to happen.
Here are the average decibel ratings of some familiar sounds:
Normal conversation 60-70 dBA
Movie theater 74-104 dBA
Motorcyles and dirt bikes 80-110 dBA
Music through headphones at max.volume, sporting events, and concerts 94-110 dBA
Sirens 110-129 dBA
Fireworks show 140-160 dBA
If you wear earplugs, such as Loop Experience Earplugs (-18 decibel reduction), to both protect your hearing, and preserve the quality of sound, you will have a better experience overall.
In terms of quality of seating arrangement for viewing, this was exceptional experience. It was my first time in what felt to be a movie viewing lounge inside a theater - tons of space between and around seats, comfortable reclining chairs with heated seats, and even a personal tray with cup holder that was both unobtrusive and useful.
I would have given this experience 5 stars if the sound was at a lower, healthier volume, and if staff were responsive. Speakers surround the theater and offer an immersive sound experience. The volume does not also have to be loud in order for this experience to be enjoyed.
85 decibels is the absolute limit, to balance public health and public entertainment.
The theater itself is pretty n clean but the line formation needs help. There isn't much space for people to line up once inside.
The seats are oddly shaped and have very bizarre headrests, aka really uncomfortable for watching a movie. Floors are so damn sticky. I mean you will leave your shoes behind sticky. It's the usual massively overpriced concessions.
Came to get out of the heat. A/C must be set to 80, it's stuffy/sweaty, seats don't recline, foot rest doesn't come up. Walk a few blocks to village 7. Awful.
Extremely uncomfortable sitting… Nothing compared to AMCs in California where leg rest comes up higher and gives more comfort to enjoy long movies
Also, I assume there must be a reason why projection film doesn’t fits the whole screen?
The theatre isn’t as nice as their amc 34th st location but it’s still good. They offer reclining and heated seats but there aren’t many theatre rooms.
Not the best AMC theater. Nothing particularly wrong with it, but not as good as the other ones.
Unsanitary & nasty when handling food. Plus they almost never use gloves. Only for popcorn.
The air conditioning was broken, the seats were worn out, all of the soap dispensers and hand sanitizer dispensers were empty, none of the toilets were flushed. The movie was good though.
The theaters are sooo hot. Feels like they didn’t turn on the AC to save money. Terrible experience should have gone somewhere else
I went to see song of Freedom last Friday for the first time after covid 19 it been 3 year
The movie was very great. I really like it and it was very sad
Movie theater was smaller than I expected. The lady at the front door checking tickets was great and had excellent customer service skills. There were no 3D glasses downstairs, and she didn't stop until she found a whole box to put out. I love that.
Don’t come here during the summer time unless you wanna sweat all your body fat off.seats were good but the temperature ruined it.
Exceeded my expectations. Not been to this theater since there was the lows 19th Street at that location. AMC did an an excellent job converting this to a multiplex. Seating was very comfortable.
Always quiet, clean, and has a good selection of current movies in the standard options of movie formats.
A very nice AMC. All the seats were recliners, but they weren't fully reclining. The seat had seat warmers.
