AMC Loews Stony Brook 17 reviews
20Worst cinema i have ever been to. The staff and managment is very nasty. Place is dirty and stinky. I will never go to this place even if it’s free.
My son and I recently visited the AMC Theatre in Stony Brook to see the new Spider Man. I apparently bought tickets for the wrong day and my son was not dealing well with the idea of missing the movie. Tony the manager swooped in and could not have been kinder or handled a special situation any more perfectly. Best customer service experience I’ve ever had. Thank you Tony! And Jacob thanks you too!
My wife and I haven't been to the movies in years with our five kids so I surprised them with tickets for tonight to see Spider-Man. Unfortunately, the night was ruined due to the rent-a-cop that was working up front. If you're going to hire someone to enforce something, make sure they're abiding by it themselves. My family walked in with the full intentions of putting our masks on but before we even stepped foot in the place, the little arrogant leprechaun was already yelling at us. Even went as far as to mumble "someone's getting thrown out tonight". Not necessary for a family that's trying to have a good time on Christmas eve. My wife brought that to my attention cause lord knows he wouldn't say it to my face. I watched other people walk in which he didn't say a word to them. Why he singled my family out? No idea. Mid way through the movie I took a bathroom break which was up front and as I glanced over, I saw him texting on his phone and mask covering his chin. Total bs. Not needed when you just spent $234 to watch a movie. Horrible experience. I'll be bringing my family elsewhere next time. Shame cause I used to like that theater.
Good movie theater. They have small theaters and big theaters with all the bells and whistles. So it’s up to you to choose what kind of movie experience you want. The place is clean - too! Nice theaters!
The Fat old manager that needs to pay off his debt in life won't let kids under 17 see R-rated movies, Definitely really bad for business, I know countless people that won't go there due to this reason. It's either fire him or get this man checked. I have countless cops in my family and all of them said that this law isn't taken seriously.and for that don't go here if you are a kid or adolescent, instead go to island 16 where your money is worth something. #whoisatom
It's a fine theater. The standard seats are old and definitely not comparable to the updated recliners found elsewhere or even in this very theater's premium Dolby auditorium. The IMAX seats are the same as standard, but I don't mind because IMAX is such a great experience (maybe even better than Dolby, imo). Not the most modern or up to date theater around, but the staff is nice and it's usually not too crowded if you're looking for a more quiet and empty showing.
Needs updating. My back still hurts from the old uncomfortable non-reclining seat. Bathrooms unkept, popcorn tasted stale. Overall not a great experience.
Movie shown in theatre 1, Dolby, new seats and food/cup holder trays, arm rests that swivel up for date-cuddling! The whole place was very clean and the staff very attentive and welcoming. Best movie experience I've ever had!
Great place to see the newest movies. I have been going there for the last 20 years. The staff is always polite and the Theatres are comfortable and clean. I am glad they are back open after losing 2020.
Awesome theater for friends and family. Always enjoyed the food and the customized soda drinks we could get. Definitely in the top 2 theaters I would recommend.
I've been to a couple of movies at this location. The viewing experience itself was really good. Quiet theaters, comfortable seats. The lobby is a little chaotic with its special lines for AMC members. Kind of hard to navigate if there are any amount of people in it. Some of the theaters are super small but it doesn't appear that way when you select an assigned seat. Ended up having to switch chairs in the theater because we were way too close to the screen. Luckily, there were only two other people in the theater for our movie so there was plenty free.
The movie we saw was in a tiny theater with NO legroom or reclining seats. The entire complex was filthy and it was only 4pm on a Monday. Trash cans all overflowing, including all the ones in the parking lot and outside the front door. The floor in the lobby, restroom and theater looked like it hadn't been cleaned in days. With so many other great theaters in the Louisville area, we will not be going back to this one.
I haven't been to a movie theater in years, but going to Loews reminds me of why they are still around. Sure, the price is astronomical and it's not your living room, but the experience is unmatched. The sound, visuals and seats were all wonderful. Worth going for a movie you are dying to see.
I recently reviewed Lowes Stony Brook theater. I bought tickets to the new Dolby screening room. I must say that this roo impressed me. The theater itself is still outdated but this room made it so worth it. This theater had reclining seats with an arm bar between seats that could be removed so if you're on a date you and cuddle up. The were very comfortable seats. The screen was very clear and HD. The sound was amazing. It was like a rumbling surround sound with clear audio. I would go back to this theater for this room alone. It's theater #1. The concession stand had a wide variety of food options but was very confusing how it all worked. You order and have to go to the other side to get your stuff but no one tells you that. Overall it was a good experience. 7.5 out of 10.
Nice theater. Seating has been updated to the new recliners. I do miss the old red ones though. They were more comfortable imo. The rest of the theater needs updating. Lobby and bathrooms please.
This theater is in serious need of updating. It's really unfortunate that this location has missed out on a lot of the updates I've grown accustomed to at other theaters. The bathrooms, carpeting, walls, and seats all look like time forgot them. Sitting through an IMAX screening of a 190 minute movie in uncomfortable seats that creaked anytime I moved was disappointing. The staff were pleasant enough though otherwise it would have been a single star.
Dirty dirty and dirty this place is like never clean floor by the soda machine very sticky inside the theater seats and floor is not clean i wont go there again
Good seating with recliners. Didn't have any temperature problems. Quick and painless experience to get in with my online ticket. As always though, movie theater food is overpriced and unhealthy - don't buy it.
A little pricey, but otherwise good. AMC is exactly what you'd expect from a movie theater - expensive food, decent quality screens, clean lobby. One thing that helps AMC stand apart from the rest though is that I love that they always have the weird, one-off movies that no one else is showing, like when they did the 25th anniversary of Wayne's World, or when they participated in the Studio Ghibli series. Whenever there's a limited run of a film, I know I can count on AMC to have it.
Always clean lobby and theaters. Friendly staff. Totally worth being a stubs member to get pre-booked seats and 1/2 price Tuesday deals?
