American Beauty School, Bronx NY

This was my first time at the beauty school and I will definitely be going back. Tina greeted me and helped me sign in and two students Eliza and Ashly blew out and pressed my hair. Honestly never talked so much at any salon, that’s how comfortable they made me feel. Everyone was so pleasant and the environment was friendly. The music was going and the students were doing their thing! I would recommend customers give these students a chance and anyone interested in getting their license to check this place out!

I will not be coming back to this salon. Since it change hands. The quality of service has gone downhill.recently went in for a color treatment. Was given permanent hair color. My hair has fallen out and breakage of my hair.
That has never happened before. I am upset.
I have been a faithful customer for years. When ms Wendy was the owner. Now change of ownership. Won’t be back.

Yes, I was in your salon in February 2022. Plus I was in your salon in April, 2022. One time was for coloring. Semi permanent color. Another was for a relaxer. The last time was for color.
I remember you telling me that you no longer have beautiful brown hair color. You will give me permanent hair color. I remember asking you will it make my hair fall out.
I have never done permanent hair color. Always semi permanent color. You said no. It will not fall out.
But my hair did fall out. I research and found out that permanent hair color has bleach in it. And it strips the hair and cause breakage. Which has happened.
No I will not call you nor come back to your salon.
You did have talented hair stylist whom have since graduated. On this given day, in which my hair was ruined. I was given a new stylist who must have been a beginner. I did not know the effect of having permanent hair dye applied to my relaxed hair, would cause this much damaged.

Love the haircut. Great job. And felt comfortable with covid protections. That was one of the reasons why I hadn't cut my hair in like 3 years. Will definitely be a regular again.

I didn’t even bother wasting my time after I spoke with receptionist who was clearly a student. She seemed mad she was stuck on phone duty. I simply inquired about pricing and if certain hair styles were offered (for natural hair). She was very rude and said I need to come speak with an instructor. If you’re Not capable of answering certain questions then why are you even answering the phone? Shouldn’t she be practicing for her license? This is how students are graduating without proper knowledge because they’re allocating their time to matters That don’t concern them such as being a receptionist.

I have been to this place 3 times and this 3rd time, they messed up my hair and didn’t even complete the work properly. They told me to come back on Monday after 6 pm. I was devastated, and I spent 9 to 5 whole day. They couldn’t even finish the job. I was in so much stress and not feeling confident at all. I couldn’t look at myself because of my hair color failure. VERY BAD JOB. I DONT recommend anybody to go to this place at all. They will make you wait and won’t even communicate properly. The student who did my hair wasn’t proper trained at all, I could tell she was new and didn’t know what she was doing. I am really done with this place. I will never step my foot inside this place ever again. Ms. Karen management skills in this place was very bad. I am really disappointed.

I am truly grateful to American Beauty School and NYIB for giving me the opportunity to be a hairstylist at Brooklyn Fashion Week. I had no idea signing up with the school that I would be given such an amazing experience. The instructors are experts and will give you one on one instruction if needed. I am more confident in my work because of the skills I've learned attending this school.

The school is affordable and in the midst of changes that I hear are to make it even better. Try to have patience. Also be realistic, the price is very affordable compared to other schools. That is something I valued going to school at 28.

I have just started and already participated in Brooklyn fashion week. As well as being able to help some friends get opportunities just from going to the school as well. The teachers are kind and passionate. I can already tell that Attitude is KEY. You get what you give. Come to school willing to learn, open minded, passionate, honest, and hardworking. I strongly believe it will pay off.

I went to get my hair dyed three weeks ago and I showed them what I wanted and they told me they couldn’t do silver or grey so I settled for blonde but I ended up with yellow hair not the blonde I wanted and the stylist could do a full wash and set that I paid for because the salon closed 2 hours into the dying process. I still haven’t gotten a chance to get the rest of the service I paid for which would be a full wash and set.

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I called looking to get my hair done, I was told by reception to arrive before 2: 30pm. I arrived at about 1: 15pm. After standing at the front desk for 10mins being completely ignored, I was finally approached by a woman. I let her know the service I was interested in getting, she rudely said I would have to come back tomorrow. I asked why as the woman on the phone said to arrive before 2: 30pm. She, in a nasty tone said they didn't have enough students she did not want to over work them, which is completely understandable. She then just walked away, I asked well what time should I come back, and she responded as if I was annoying her, 9AM! The manner in which she spoke to me was completely unnecessary and uncalled for. I will not be going back tomorrow.

The students are very nice and do a very good job. But unfortunately they don't use towels any more to wrap around the customers neck, they used cheap paper towels.the water drips onto you upper body.it wet my facial mask as well as the T-shirt I had on Saturday. 2 teachers were notified of this. I had to take off my facial mask and put paper towel over my nose and face while the student dried my hair. This is a health and safety issue with the pandemic. They did not have disposable mask even to give me one when this occurred.

This school is life changing and must be taken seriously. Ms. Heather, Ms. Karin and Ms, M are wonderful teacher

My student was shenique she was very professional, organized, neat, friendly. She did box braides in my hair she did it in a timely manner I was very satisfied with her work I would highly recommend her.

I am a proud past student of this institution of which I graduated from about 9 years ago. American Beauty School is one of the best in the New York area as it had a well rounded curriculum and staff. My instructors were knowledgeable and thorough which contributed to a great learning experience for me. Miss Stewart and Mr. Ramon were the best! All in all, it’s a good school. Some policies do need some upgrading / tweaking but otherwise no complaints.

Students and staff were very friendly and outgoing. Also very helpful in making a decision on hairstyle.
