Dining at American Bounty is fun. We love chatting with the service staff who are about to become chefs or culinary administrators. Our server, was a delightful young man from Sunapee, New Hampshire. He has the perfect personality for a career in hospitality.
The set up of the restaurant is tastefully furnished with lots of space between tables - just how we like it.
We really enjoyed the Peanut Celery Soup, the crab limoncello ravioli and Privia’s Single origin Chocolate cake. The Mushroom, leak and kale pot pie was tasty but over salted. The service was highly attentive. A five star meal for sure.

A little pricy, but worth every penny. Food was excellent, service was excellent, very nice place for that special occasion.

Excellent food, service, and atmosphere. We came for an extended family lunch and we loved everything. Isaac our server was fantastic. Our group ordered the wagyu burger, the market fish, the gnocchi, the crab cakes, the ciopinno, the carrot comfit salad, and the split pea soup. Everything was incredible. We will definitely be back.

Great CIA restaurant. The workers are all students so treat them as such. You aren't the teacher

Just unbelievable. It is a must as far as dining. Presentation is absolutely amazing. The peach salad looked like a floral arrangement on my plate.

Great food and service. Our server Adwaita was very knowledgeable about the menu and helpful with suggestions.

Sitting on the Cloister garden it is wonderful garden view. The food is less complex than Bocuse but no less interesting.
I didn’t know I was craving spring but the pasta with peas and such simply sauced reminded me of how much I missed the East. And spring.
Our server forgot to pour out wine so that was a point reduction. I would be astounded if you did not enjoy the Bounty

The taste and flavor are that of a disillusioned and uninspired chef. Service is good but majority of the food was disappointing. From their obsession with salting everything from sprinkle of coarse salt on perfectly made dinner rolls to heavy handed salting of the fish. Flavors were meh and unexciting. Seriously you are supposed to be at the Mecca of culinary experiment’s—do better. It appeared that the students preparing the meals had no oversight.

I'm going to give 4 stars. Food was good, but really was missing the WOW factor! It was our first visit here and had high expectations, and with it being the CIA, we expected some wow to the meal but it never arrived. Again, nothing bad, nothing disappointing, but also NO WOW.

My child will be attending CIA in September and we wanted to give this restaurant a try. Everything was fabulous.

The fine dining experience is alive and well at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park. My husband took us here for our anniversary. Our waiters Wes and Yuen (forgive me if I spelled her name incorrectly) were so nice and perfectly attentive. The restaurant offered us two glasses of prosecco on the house with some wee puffy treats. An unexpected delight. We were seated close to the "stage" kitchen area where you can watch the students work their magic creating works of art on a dish. The appetizers were scrumptious. Hubby had salmon tartare just devine. I had the Spring onion tart w goat cheese w fennel-radish salad. Was paired nicely with the Pinot Gris from Oregon. Had the Market Fish of the day which was pan-seared scallops with plantains and a creamy dreamy banana pudding it was outrageously out-of-this-world deelish. My tastebuds have never been so happy. Hubby loved the house ale and the Parkerhouse rolls with homemade honeyed butter and a french with sea salt. At the conclusion of our meal we shared the cheesecake with raspberry ice cream, Ethiopian coffee for him (which he loved!) and a mint verbena tea for me. If there was a restaurant in heaven it would be American Bounty. Everyone was so lovely and you could tell they really care about what they do and their colleagues and give the patrons the best foodie experience. Thank you American Bounty for a magnifique night!

I had such a blast dining here. I have never eaten at the culinary before and it blew my expectations. We spent around 150 total which wasn't bad for the amount of attention, service and quality of the meals. I would definitely come back and love to experience the other restaurants here

The CIA (Culinary Institute of America) in Hyde Park, Ny is an absolute gem. It is a Culinary college where all the students are learning to be maîtres D’s, chefs or pastry artists. Everything is student run so your waiters and chefs are all current students. It is elevated cuisine served to the highest of standards. The students, from front to back of restaurant are striving their best to impress and as a result the lucky diners get competent, knowledgeable, friendly waitstaff and absolutely fresh, hand & homemade cuisine & desserts to a 5 star level. Whole experience is old style where you are greeted and treated as valued guests while the food is very much au courant. There are 3 main restaurants: Caterina De Medici (Italian), American Bounty, and La Bocuse (French). All 3 are extraordinary in their physical setting, their service and of course the scrumptious food. The campus is magnificent with beautiful buildings, sculptures, follies, and swoon worthy views over the Hudson River. They are open for both lunch and dinner and truly any one, or all 3 restaurants are a do not miss experience for those in the know. Attached photos below are from our recent lunch at American Bounty.

The menu was exceptionally varied with creative offerings. Plating was very good. Execution on two of our four entrees was a bit disappointing as was one of the appetizers. That said, the use of seasoning on all dishes was spot on. The service was 4 1/2 stars.

Worst experience at CIA. First time at American Bounty. Very surprised. Our bus was late, and our group was split in two. We were seated in a room off the main, and the iced tea, which was already in the glasses, was room temperature. The service was poor. The portions were small and the chicken was dry - the sauteed spinach was very good. The brioche rolls were good, we asked for more - but no butter was brought and frankly, we grew tired of having to wait for anyone to pay attention to our group. The staff were discourteous, no smiles, just long faces and frankly, our soup cups remained in front of us for at least 8 minutes, serving was erratic, clearing was amusing. One student picked up two cups and two under plates. No tray? Nothing. Maybe we were short changed because of the number of people on the trip?
