THE ABSOLUTE WORST PLACE TO GET YOUR GLASSES FROM! DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT GO HERE THEY WILL WASTE YOUR TIME.

I have been going to American Eye Care for almost a decade now, and I would 100% recommend trusting your eye care to this truly stellar office and team. Dr. Stadlen and the entire team are incredibly caring and accommodating. Their office’s manager, Kayla, is a rockstar and always goes the extra mile to take care of customers. Thank you American Eye Care for always taking exceptional care of me.

I came in to get an eye exam today. I was not told about new policies or fees before my exam was done. I feel this was not ok to do people should be well aware of all fees and changes before the exam is done.

Spoke with a girl who said to come in at 1pm for a simple eye vision test for DMV and when I get there I am told the doctor is just about to go on break and wont be back until 3. Driving in Astoria is a nightmare and they will not respect your time. Total waste of staff that needs a lot more training. Save yourself the stress of dealing with this incompetence.

I think this place has a nice selection of frames and sunglasses. The staff is very pleasant and nice to their customers. Kayla the manager for sure is very capable doing her job. I highly recommend this place.

This was my best optometrist experience ever. Visited today for as a first-time customer, and will be a customer for life. Four reasons why I was so impressed and why I give American Eye Care my highest recommendation:

1) Dr. Stadlen is an outstanding professional who is prompt, courteous, friendly, and takes the time to explain things in plain terms and make sure the patient understands everything. He is down-to-earth and easy to talk to - I had several questions and he patiently answered everything. And above all, he does not try to sell you anything - he puts your health and your needs first.

2) The staff are an efficient, professional, and friendly team. They made me feel welcome as soon as I stepped in, and were very expedient in processing patients. One staff member was so thoughtful and helped me find the perfect pair of eyeglasses. And I love that they are very transparent - they take the time to walk you through pricing, what your insurance covers or does not cover, etc.they don’t try to upsell you, which is a relief. Many other shops try to speed through the details and try to upsell you everything — not these guys. They are pros.

3) They have a huge selection of stylish premium brands of eyeglasses and sunglasses - Oliver Peoples, Chanel, Ray-Ban, Tom Ford, Sant Laurent, and more. This was very impressive - usually, most other optometrists will only care a small selection of premium brands, and I typically end up having to purchase my glasses elsewhere. This was super convenient to have access to an excellent selection and try on what I’d like.

4) They are a top VSP Insurance provider. So if you have VSP insurance, you will absolutely get the most value for your money here compared to other shops because they offer additional discounts for VSP customers.

Highly recommend. I can’t wait to get my eyeglasses and contact lenses!

The Dr and the ladies by the counter are helpful.

BUT the TECHNICIAN:
As I excitedly put on my 1st ever expensive progressive lenses, I said, I cannot see anything. He goes look up, I see nothing. He said look down, same thing, blurry. He asked me to come back a week later, he says they need to make corrections, translation: wrong lenses.

2nd try: Technician says, look far, then look down. Not as bad as the 1st time.
However the letter edges are blurry. He says, look all the way down, I said I'm going cross eyed, he says oh, you're a first time user that's why. I asked for the Dr. He corrected my prescription and asked me to come back another week later.

3rd time's a charm or is it? I asked for the reading part to be a tad higher from last time. Technician comes out, glasses are dirty I had to asked for it to be cleaned. I put it on, a little better than before but still very low. I explained how I'm looking all the way down and as the dr said to me last time, look up a tad the way you normally read. Technician dismisses my input and says yeah sure just a first time user. I showed him how my eyes look and that my eyes hurts from looking down so low when I'm trying to find the reading part of the glasses. He says that's just how it is. I came back four times to get a decent pair of glasses that I can use while teaching. In the end, he flat out refused to adjust my glasses any further.

For a very expensive pair of glasses, the last thing you need to hear is a technician who dismisses your input and talks in a condescending manner. Not coming back here. I guess who cares right, I'm just one customer after all.

I have NEVER been to an eye doctor that has made me feel so comfortable. Everyone was kind and SUPER helpful. It was easy to book an appointment and they helped me with my insurance. I’m so thankful for their patience and how they were able to break down and explain everything I was paying for. Anywhere else made me feel like I’m being scammed/ripped off. But not this place! I’ll be returning here and making my annual appointments here.

Dr. Stadlen is the best. He is so kind, he goes straight to the point. Very Efficient. I've never wanted to go to any other optometrist, It simply can't get any better than this.

This place didn't even pester me to write a review like other places. My experience has just been so great with them that I felt compelled to write a review. Dr. Stadlen is both very competent and professional, as well as very friendly. His staff is on top of everything and communicates efficiently. Overall, you get the vibe that they all care about their customers. Would totally recommend to anyone in the Astoria area!

Dr. Stadlen is personable, takes his time working with you to find the best prescription and solutions to your eye problems, and the prices were reasonable. I've never had such a thorough exam and enjoyable experience at the eye doctor before this! The staff is wonderful as well, friendly and attentive. I will be recommending this office to my family members and friends.

Super friendly staff has treated me for eye issues, exams, glasses and contacts. A very efficient operation, never a long wait, always a quick turn around on glasses.

I want to start this review thanking the American Eye Care Team.
Since the fist time I arrived to my appointment I had a great custumer service experience. The stuff was very friendly and efficient, the woman is front desk is very friendly and professional. Also the doctor is great, he is very professional and kind.

I had a delay with the shipping of my contact lenses and everytime I contacted the office they were very nice and willing to fix any problem. It turns out they fixed the problem and I got the contacts plus extra pairs as a gift from The American Eye Care Team. That was very lovelty from them and I'm grateful I went to the right place to do my eye exam and my contact lenses purchase.

Also they are following all the precautions to take care of their patients during the pandemic so you are going to feel safe, welcome and satisfied in this place.

Horrible experience i had appt today and couldn't be seen after i spent a $10 uber to get there because of whoever took my appt over the phone didnt do there job properly and i was very clear on the type of insurance I had.

Just called to get a copy of my prescription sent over since I moved across the country and was reminded why I miss American Eye Care. Dr. Stadlen is patient and thorough, everyone on staff is kind and friendly, and I always felt welcome to stop in for questions or adjustments. Thanks for taking such good care of my vision!

Dr. Stadlen is the best! He treated me like a person and not just a patient. The staff at American Eye Care are all very helpful and take the time to help picking out and properly fitting glasses.
