This place has been an amazing food spot for me over the years. Solid breakfast with amazing dinner options in a classy historical setting. The food is on point.

I've been coming to this restaurant since 1998 and it's always a joy.
Impossible to visit Sag Harbor and not visit.

Extremely unprofessional service. We had a dinner reservation, but went early to have a drink at the bar. The older gentleman behind the bar was extremely cold, immediately made us feel unwelcome. Common attitude of thinking because you have done a job for a long time, you must be good at it. Cocktail was unbalanced, but the bitterness from bartender is what caused us to cancel our dinner reservation and go elsewhere. Disappointing because I know we could have had a much better experience. The atmosphere is gorgeous and very unique and we have friends that rave about the food.

This is - without a doubt - one of the worst restaurant experiences I’ve ever had. We had a 7pm reservation and didn’t get our food until after 9pm. For the record my food was RAW OYSTERS and that somehow took them over two hours to make. The waiter didn’t check on us once and actively avoided eye contact and we had to chase him down many times. Before the meal even began he was rude and snapped at me when I asked if he could bring us menus because we sat at a table for 15 min without even getting menus to look at. Every single thing was a disaster from start to finish. We got up to talk to mangers many times and still nothing changed and not one single person ever came over to apologize. The biggest offense was when we got our bill and saw that we were expected to pay for every single thing we ordered despite how insanely awful the experience was. I went up to the manager to discuss this with him and he was rude and fought me plenty. Finally they gave us a measly 20% off our bill. Let the record show this place charges over $40 per entree. It was beyond beyond appalling, clearly the problematic service goes all the way up to the top - I have rarely seen a restaurant so poorly managed and you quite literally couldn’t pay me to return.

It does not get any more quaint or lovely than the American Hotel. Beautifully appointed and the staff is so very accommodating.

Awful place! We walked in and received a frosty reception my the lady in the front. Arrogant and obnoxious. Made the mistake yo stay and partly fund her salary.

I have been coming here for over 25 years! This place never disappoints and always has excellent food and excellent service. The building itself is very charming with a bit of a spooky feel inside, which adds to the experience. Fun crowd, great people watching. Great for families and if you’re just coming out to grab a drink at the bar. It’s a staple in sag!

Had lunch in restaurant was absolutely delicious.great servers and atmosphere was amazing.

Impeccable service! Food was delicious! Our waiter, Dennis, was top notch! He was knowledgeable and very attentive. We had a great time and didn't feel rushed. Even though they were busy. Highly recommend this restaurant!

We went last night for our 42nd wedding anniversary. Fantastic Food n Drink. I had the Spinach Salad. Than Scallops with creamy Mashed Potatoes n Green Cauliflower Husband had Ceasars Salad n than Lamb Chops. EXCELLENT

Fun and amazing, Restaurant is a old hotel with alot history.men's toilet is a 2x2 lol.food good.service great.location amazing.seen 5 movie stars siting amd eating casually.very cool.alot rich people come here.
