Ammos Estiatorio reviews
15Wonderful restaurant with delightful service by Amel. She really made it extra special and was extremely accommodating. Great place for a business lunch -
Good place to grab a drink and get some Greek food. Right across from grand central. Gets crowded, so get a reservation or go early.
My Salmon was cooked to perfection, crispy on the outside, translucent inside. Vegetables were delicious. Service was great. Overall a great experience
Stopped in for cocktails and hearty nibbles. Loved the ginger margaritas, and the sweet and spicy margaritas! The grilled octopus with fennel and onions, along with the selection of dips with warm pita were fantastic. Great salads and fabulous atmosphere! Service was attentive and friendly! Would highly recommend!
Impeccable service. Food is good. Our waiter and server were professional and extremely accommodating. Thank you!
Lunch the way it should be! Excellent food! The Dover Sole is a must!
Very attentive service.
I constantly come by purchasing some food here. I enjoy the quick service and well prepared dishes. Fantastic work.
Classy place with a fun cellar. The escargo was to die-t for! Wine special was an enormous bottle of bordoux aged over 30 years, unforgettable!
Nothing like it used to be.food is terrible, service is poor, music so loud you can't have a conversation.too expensive for what they have to order. We were unable to eat any of the dishes we ordered.
Creative Greek cuisine, quite different from traditional dishes, but Ammos pulls it off gallantly. Impressive. Dessert selection could be better.
Unusual decor, high ceilings, great Greek food, always >5 fish types available, just steps away from Grand Central Station. The flaming cheese appetizer is amazing!
Went there for Valentines. Food was really good and the place was appropriate for the occasion. The staff is very friendly and everyone from the waitress to the manager bid us goodbye when we left. If I really have to nitpick then I'll say the music is louder than it should be. Will come again.
Great location across from grand central when you don't want to sit at the extremely overpriced bars on the western 2nd level.
I came here last Saturday for a birthday party, in order to take advantage of "Greek Night" for music and what not. Since the table was still being prepared I gathered six of my friends to order drinks at the bar, I wasn't too thrilled to see the prices of the drinks, but what are you going to do; what did bother me was the amount they poured. I order a couple of glasses of scotch neat and would have expected a bit of a healthier pour than he gave me, after all, I had just ordered a round of drinks in one go that had cost over $115 before tax. I will say, they have a pretty good selection of whisk (e) y and scotch.
Unfortunately, the was the best part of the night. Although the waitress was pleasant for our size of table, when she came around to take orders, she tried remembering it all in her head, then decided to go get a notepad to write everything down when she asked again (as a waiter in the past, there is no reason not to have it with you at all times while working).
The apps were above decent, but the entrees were no better than wedding food you would get at a catering hall, in fact, the two people that ordered the chicken didn't bother eating it because it was so dry.
My only positive is that the ambiance of the restaurant was nice to be in (except the music on Greek night is VERY loud).
Interesting restaurant choice near the theater district, roughly at the corner of Vanderbilt and 45th. It has a 3 course theater menu, in fact, featuring an appetizer or sallad, a main course (one vegetarian, the rest seafood) and dessert. We ended up ordering a la carte from the main menu. The main fresh fish entres weigh in at a pound and are basically meant to be shared. Greek specialties and nightly specials are single servings. The salad we ordered was definitely enough for two hungry people. We had striped bass and branzino, served with fresh, nicely cooked vegetables. Both were excellent. They have a decent wine list and some pretty good wines by the glass. There is also a full bar, though with limited seating. The staff was attentive and helpful. Be warned that there is nothing like a kids menu. Also be warned that the atmosphere is, well, a bit odd: dark, slightly thrown together decor, nonintuitive background music. If you want excellent seafood at a reasonable price and can create your own atmosphere, this is a good bet.
