Amsterdam Castle NY Inc. reviews
17Old armory converted into an old English castle/hotel. Dinner is only served on Saturdays. Warm cozy room with Big Screen TV and big Bathtub and shower.
Cozy little place and really enjoyed the room at first but recieved some nasty bug bites the first night. Wasn't bad initially once I woke up but over some hours into the day, the swelling grew bigger and so did the pain. Due to the severe reaction and just the unfortunate event of getting these bites, won't be coming back.
Amazing Place great view not just outside but the inside is beautiful, to tell you the truth this will be a place where I would love to get Married. Definitely Definitely will be back to this place!
Excellent!
Very good staff.
Perfectly clean.
This place has a soul not like all these chains.
We stayed a little over a week. Thanksgiving week. They took care of our every need the entire time. They were helpfull with directions snd recommendations. Would return again without a doubt
Great place to stay.very unique and comfortable. The rooms are spacious and the staff is always welcoming and helpful. We just love it here.
Would highly recommend the castle. There's nothing more we could have asked for. The whole place was absolutely gorgeous, the room was amazing, and the staff was great. If I could give more than 5 stars I would. Make sure to explore downtown, you won't be disappointed.
My son and I stayed at the Amsterdam Castle in July and we loved it! Very clean and comfortable. The staff is outstanding also and I would definitely stay there again. Thank you for your wonderful hospitality!
Amazing castle in Amsterdam! On a road trip and stayed here for a night. The room was unique and not like any other. The art all around was amazing. The great hall reminded me of Hogwarts. Staff was super nice and very accommodating. Also recommend the Southside Slice right across the street!
Great atmosphere! Excellent food & service and such amazing history. The owner, Nigel, was nice enough to chat with us about the history of the castle. Very impressive!
Rooms are odd no dressers spongey beds trains blowing horns all night long no breakfast served front desk person nice
So here's the deal. We arrived at 7: 30ish on a sunday. Place was cool. A little weird but super clean and reasonable enough. The issue is, there was really very limited food available in the area. Ended up with domino's which was ok, but the hotel itself did not seem to have even like snacky stuff (which it seems most hotels do). The hotels restaurant isn't open on a Sunday.
Would I stay here again - definitely - but I'd plan better for feeding the family
Don’t be fooled by its unique presentation. Stay somewhere else.
I booked a Junior Suite for 2 nights at this hotel. The room appeared very clean and was quite large for what I was expecting. I found it odd that a white noise maker was provided in the room, but I would soon discover why. I also noticed a letter left by hotel staff in the room that urged quiet hours between 10pm and 8am, a low level TV volume, and consideration of other travelers. Of course, these are all things I agreed with and abided by, but it made me wonder why such a letter was needed in the first place.
The walls are paper thin. The first night, I could easily hear conversations on the street right outside my window as residences are quite close. I could also hear people walk through their rooms and the hallway.
The second night, at around 11: 00pm, the room adjacent to mine began to have a party. It was occupied by drunk guests who moved furniture, ran across the “quaint” wood flooring, and threw objects against the wall. I approached the night manager and requested to be placed in a different room. He asked if I had spoken to the guests myself. As a female traveling alone, I had not. He offered to speak with them, which he did. The response from these guests clearly showed they were drunk and disorderly, including vulgar language.
The noise, including the throwing of objects against the wall, promptly returned as the night manager walked away. He did return to my room just before midnight to give me a key to a different room.
When I went to check out the next morning, these guests were still occupying the room.
I have a problem with a hotel that caters to such a disorderly crowd, allowing it, while expecting and instructing its other patrons to abide by the rules of normal respectful behavior. This situation was not only a reflection of the hotel’s greed (wanting to collect their nightly rate without kicking them out), but also allowance of a potentially dangerous situation.
We arrived on this "fake" castle ambience with cheap decors and mixed ornaments, all the communal space is taken by the hotel restaurant there is not even a chair to sit outside the room, rooms are huge due to the floorplan (not easy access to windows) but are dark dated with no curtains chipped furniture old dirty carpets, the beds are covered with fleece blankets NO upper flat clean linen and when I asked to be given one the receptionist presented one wrinkled bed sheet and when I complained she told me "no press on premise" only to find out that ALL bed linens wasn't pressed, awful, NOTHING is there nice, avoid at all cost.
Great place to stay! The restaurant choices in the area are very nice! Not too far from Saratoga race course. The atmosphere takes you away from the daily computer/cell phone grind that we live in today. The hotels takes you back in time and relaxes you. The restaurant was 90% full when I left to go out at 7: 30. The menu is small 6 entrees and a few appetizers. Most people don't eat in the hotel when staying in a new area, people like to get out and explore the area. I don't judge a hotel by the restaurant they have or the menu. I will stay again for sure in the near future.
Fortunately we had quiet neighbors because the walls are kind of thin. But the king suite was great for us rather than getting 3 separate rooms.
What a fun place to stay!
Definitely unique!
The kids were so excited to stay in a castle!
Rooms were very clean and well kept.
