Anthology Film Archives reviews
16My boyfriend and I were planning to go to a movie house, and one of my friends recommended this movie house for us. The staff was nice, very professional, and accommodating. Besides, the seats were organized, the whole area was cleaned, and the screen was too large and clear. Honestly, we have quality time with each other with your movie house.
Kind of messed up, I went here to watch a really great film documentary and I could really concentrate listening to people eating stuff! Seriously man.
One of the best movie theaters in all of NYC. So many unique films are screened and amazing festivals are done here.
Great venue for independent cinema. An East Village landmark in an historic NY building. Friendly staff, nice auditorium.
A film festival in an historic building. Great character in the building. Theater was comfortable. AC needed to be a bit cooler.
I've screened my film here and attended many screenings and festivals of my friends films. It's great that they offer big screens to low budget films and they are definitely a staple of the New York City indie film community. I will admit that the seats are uncomfortable especially if you're big like I am and the lack of air conditioning is just annoying. Still, I'm sure Ill.be here again and again. Check out their new filmmakers series if you're a young director.
Obscure, art, independent, vintage films if you are intelligent and artistic this is the go to place to find those films.
Legendary. Anthology Film Archives is not your Metrograph or Lincoln Center. It's old school. The lobby is freezing. The seats are threadworn. The audience is a mix of the elderly who saw the repertory screenings when they were first released and NYU film students (definitely prefer the former). Keeping film alive in NYC.
A great community resource for lovers of film, especially avant-garde and independent and local filmmakers.
The venue itself is ok, a little dingy, but also not the worst theater I've been to in the city. The seats were pretty uncomfortable and the bathrooms are weird and kinda gross, one of them had water on the floor (at least I hope that's what it was). The screen is nice though, and positoned in a way that actually allows you to see over the potential tall person in front of you
An international leader in presenting cutting edge as well as unusual archival films to a sophisticated audience
Best place to see a film in the city. I hope the renovations don't affect the current cinema focused atmosphere.
Anthology Film Archives brings the best in film, they don't care what kind of film it is as long as its good. You will see any film ever made, whether it was a cult classic or a home made movie, if it has any value as a film Anthology will show it.
Great cultural film center with a few theaters situated in an older structure with plenty of character.
I've walked by this building so many times but never really knew what it was. Come here for some really diverse and inspired films. I was lucky to catch a screening here with a Q&A session with Lou Reed. Amazing. A must for filmmakers and film-lovers. Yea punks not dead played here too.
Classic NYC institution- was here for the internet cat video festival (don't judge me) - hot in the summer- dress cool.
