Aretsky's Patroon reviews
14Ambiance, hospitality, photography collection, and of course meals are second to none! You’ll feel welcomed in a way that’s becoming a lost art in this city. You really can’t go wrong on the menus either. Believe me, I’ve sampled quite a bit:) if you haven’t been, get excited for your first meal of many
Calamari was very batter heavy, shishito peppers were a mixed bag - some were VERY hot, the mild ones were soggy with oil, fries were flavorless, tuna tartar was good, branzino had too much butter on it which it didn’t need but the arugula fennel salad on the side was great. Mac and cheese was gritty. Cheesecake wasn’t good and the beignets weren’t bad but the chocolate sauce it came with wasn’t warm.
The staff provides the same excellent level of service to the single diner as they do to a full table. Consistent food and service. A midtown institution for a reason.
An absolutely phenomenal NY experience. Think of a classy but low key blend of 21 and Elaine’s, this true gem of a restaurant and bar exceed any expectations. Professional and friendly staff, incredible dining and a touch of love from the Aretsky family who fawn over the patrons. My new NYC favorite.
I had high expectations based on the external presence but just didn’t like the experience based on the price and quality of their food.
5 stars doesn’t do this justice. The service was some of the best we’ve ever had and the steaks were even better. It was the first time we’ve ever been there and we were welcomed like regulars. It’s nice to see great service and food still an option
This was my first time at this restaurant and I liked it a lot. It felt very intimate, and the food was great. The meat that I ordered came perfectly rare, the beef tartar was full of delicious avocados. My group had 6 people total but since we had a reservation we got a great table.
In no time at all the restaurant was full of costumers so, a reservation might guarantee you a spot.
A bit dated interior but attentive service and nice dinner selections. A bit pricey even by today's standards but a good experience overall.
I love food and wine. I've eaten at Michelin star restaurants. I've eaten at Le Bernadin, Daniel, Boulud, and many other top rated restaurants all over. But my favorite now is Aretsky's Patroon (AP). My last dinner there was a few weeks ago with my business partner and a colleague. We started at the bar with a some cocktails and then had dinner with an excellent bottle of Chateauneauf du Pape and finished off with some single malts and blue cheese. As we were leaving, I ran into Gene Aretsky outside and we talked for quite awhile. AP is not just about fine dining but genuine hospitality.
It's tough to find a legitimately good place in this area but this is one I've saved and will return to! I would recommend the Parkerhouse rolls and the Oreo cookies for dessert. Upscale dining with down-to-earth wait staff and bartenders.
Very pricey. The good but not extraordinary combination of small portions, good tasting food and service make it hard to justify the sticker price depressing the ratings.
Couldn’t get seasonal chopped salad without onions but the bite of the Roasted Red and Gold Beets salad was very nice.
The pork chop special is recommended.
Drinks break the $20 mark
The bartenders were great and personable. The clientele were differently different. The bar is a hub for the finance industry workers, a sea of white button-ups. They’re not bad per se, but the bar definitely has a certain vibe when you’re stopping by in the early evening. If you’re going for a quiet drink, come after 9pm when the corporate crowd has dissipated.
We love everything about this place. The food and service is excellent. Eugene and his family are great hosts.
