Arthur Murray Dance Studio of Rochester

This place is run by a married couple who are also great parents. Small enough to be personal, but large enough to be structured. They have other great, very experienced instructors, too, and very diverse types of people all coming to learn how to dance. From salsa to waltz to hustle, from casual to wedding day special dance, from single men to single women, young and old, married couples, young children, many combinations. You can dance one or everything on the menu. I go there by myself once a week for a lesson and join a few group lessons a week (no additional cost), when I can find time. This prepares you to dance with strangers, because that can happen out there in the real world. It's great to be able to move around with music and know how to do it, even just a little? I plan on dancing until I'm 90, for a few more decades.because that sounds like a very fun way to live. There are a few party events in a year, if you want to feel a casual, but a bit dressed up dance party, too, which I have not yet tried.

I absolutely love everything about my experience at this studio! The staff and instructors are amazing in that they are always friendly, lively, so encouraging and of course very knowledgeable. There are so many opportunities to set personal goals. It could be as simple as learning some basics to feel confident at an upcoming wedding, which is what my husband and I did multiple times. It makes for a unique date night! Or, if you have more time to invest, the instructors will take you to the next level.

In a million years I never thought I could take lessons and be instructed to the point of feeling confident enough to participate in a competition like Flamingo Dance-O-Rama in Orlando. It was an amazing experience I will never ever forget! The year leading up to the competition I had days where I'd leave work on a lunch break and just want to dance the stress of the day away and not work on particular elements of a routine. My instructor was sensitive to those times and we'd do just that.dance.

Another thing that I really appreciate about Arthur Murray Rochester is that there is such a diverse group of students. It's such a great opportunity to get to know people and sharpen your skills with others who are more skilled or encourage others who have recently started. I also love that there are people of all ages taking lessons, from the very young students to those in their 80's and all generations represented in between.

Overall, the energy and atmosphere of the studio is always positive, which is obviously a high priority of the staff and instructors. I would encourage anyone looking to rekindle an old dream or looking to just try something new in 2022 to check out this place! It has been such a gift to me and I'm so thankful to the owners, instructors and staff for their professionalism, level of excellence and genuine care for their students.

I've been dancing at this studio for over 3 years now and I can truly say that I've never been happier in my entire life. As my kids were getting older I wanted to find something exciting and fun to do for myself, since I finally had some free time. That's when I found AMDS of Rochester. And so happy that I did! The instructors are wonderful, truly love what they do and want to share the joy of dancing with us! I look forward to my weekly lessons and Friday night parties, they are the highlights of my week! I also met some wonderful people at the studio and we've become friends. Thank you, AMDS, I can't imagine my life without you!

As a musician, I have always loved music. I used to go out to dance, but I found that even though I enjoyed myself, I always felt like I had 2 left feet, and really didn’t know what I was doing. I used to go to a club where older people who loved to dance would go. They seemed to know what they were doing on the dance floor, and it was really enjoyable to watch. One of my “bucket list” items was to learn how to dance – for real. A few years ago, I was given an opportunity to try dancing at Arthur Murray Studios here in Rochester. There were four lessons included, so I thought I’d have it all figured out after a month and know what I was doing. What I found out was how much fun learning to really dance would be. I also found some amazing people at the studio, both instructors as well as other students. It’s great exercise too. I would highly recommend dancing to anyone, especially if you find yourself wanting to have fun, learn a new skill, meet some great people, and get the benefits of exercise all in one.

This is a home away from home where I always get greeted by a friendly face and a cup of hot tea. Dance instruction is very professional and you can go as far as you want, from social dancing to competition all over the country.

My husband and I signed up for classes a few years ago to learn some wedding dances. We had such a great experience, learned a lot in a short period of time, and had so much fun that we stayed on as regular students! I have danced all my life, but have never had the pleasure of learning ballroom dancing. The team at Arthur Murray welcomed me into their dance family and have helped me to progress further than I ever imagined in ballroom. I am incredibly lucky to have a dance instructor who works with me to understand the cultural history of each dance style and to appreciate how one dance style relates to others. He pieces movement together in a way that allows us to showcase these nuances.and for a dance nerd like me, coming to the studio is heaven. This is my happy place and my new family.

This dance studio is filled with the most kind, gentle, friendly, and welcoming people I have ever met. The teachers are extraordinarily talented and truly care about you and your development as a dancer. My expectations were very quickly exceeded and simply put this is the most fun you will ever have. Perhaps, one of the best decisions of my life was to sign up at Arthur Murry. All the instructors are knowledgeable and love teaching their students how to dance. Plus, every Friday you get an opportunity to come out and practice what you have learned.

If you're a lady, you're treated like one here! And if you're a man, well, you learn how lead and even be a bit of a dance floor hero.

We went to Arthur Murray in the spring because we knew we were going to at least 7 weddings this summer and we wanted to be able to dance better. Arthur Murray's offer of 4 starter lessons was a great deal. Ed gave us a taste of a few dance styles that we thought we would like to learn. He really made it enjoyable and I got over my fear of dancing in public pretty quickly. We were having so much fun that we decided to take weekly lessons. We have learned a lot and have had a great time doing it. Cassandra has turned us into pretty respectable dancers who look good enough on the dance floor to dance to any type of music that we have been hearing at the weddings. It's hard to say enough about the people at Arthur Murray. From the greeting at the door to the help and encouragement from all the instructors. They have made it something that we look forward to every week. They are extremely professional and knowledgeable. With our input they lay out a curriculum so that we learn at our own pace. We can make changes if we want to learn other dances or we can stick with the plan that they lay out for us. I also like that there are all levels of dancers there. We have learned from the more advanced dancers in the group classes who are always willing to give pointers. The Friday night open dance parties are also a blast. It's free with the program and a great way to practice what we have learned. We would highly recommend going to Arthur Murray dance in Pittsford.

Arthur Murray Dance Studio of Rochester is the best! By far my lesson time it is most enjoyable hour of my week. My wife and I started taking lessons last year to prepare for our daughter's wedding and never stopped! It's been an incredible journey. The learning, laughter and friendliness is like nothing I've experienced before. IT'S FUN! Take it from a person who spent his lifetime fearing the dance floor and self consciousness that this has been the most rewarding experience I could ever imagine. You will not find a better bunch of people to spend time with!

Since starting lessons at this studio in January 2020, my wife and I have been learning 9 different ballroom and Latin couples dance styles. Group Lessons and Practice Parties are terrific activities for socializing with other students. The entire staff is very talented and friendly. Regardless of gender, each instructor is knowledgeable in the leading and following roles of each dance style they teach. It is a pleasure working as a couple with one instructor as it improves our chemistry in more than just movement skills. Not all dance studios do it like this. We love the family atmosphere that seems to have been fostered for years with long time students. We highly recommend Arthur Murray Dance Studio of Rochester!

The experience at Arthur Murray Rochester is simply wonderful! My fiancé and I learned our first dance for our wedding here. The instructors are phenomenal and the atmosphere is fun and inviting!

Love all the instructors. Very good at what they do and the entire staff is super friendly and accommodating.

My husband and I were non-dancers. When our daughter got engaged we knew that he would have to dance with her and we would have to dance together. We took the introductory class and signed up on the spot. Everyone there is warm and welcoming and totally non-judgmental. Never once did we feel awkward or embarrassed at our lack of skill. COVID came and wedding was drastically scaled back but we continue our weekly lessons because we have so much fun! And for my hubby to be so enthusiastic about it tells me just how great this studio is. Date night or event, dancing with Arthur Murray instructors and staff is the best.

Who knew there were other ways to dance as a couple, without going around in a circle! LOL We decided to learn some good dancing moves for our daughter's wedding. I had some friends that took lessons at Arthur Murray and they really enjoyed their experience. We signed up for our introductory lesson with Ed and decided to continue with the introductory package of 4 lessons. The Arthur Murray staff is friendly and makes you feel at home. We have extended and are continuing with more lessons to sharpen our dancing skills. We are having fun with our instructor, Cassandra. They all make it fun. GIve it a try. You will be glad you did!

Everyone is welcoming, professional, and extremely wonderful at teaching dance. The lessons are both fun, and productive! And recommend taking lessons enough!
