The staff is quite high handed. The cocktails might be good but if you want to be treated well, I am sure there are other options in NY

[Response to Owner Comment] Well, thematically if you look at all the 'not so good' ratings its because the way patrons are treated at the door. We had a similar experience. After a 45 mins wait we weren't let in because one of us didn't have a physical ID for verification. (apparently digital is not acceptable). Before I get 'policy' thrown at my face I would like to make a few points. Firstly, we have been to at least 6+ bars during the course of this stay and every bar/restaurant in NYC were welcoming and accommodating by accepting digital docs for verification. Secondly, if you guys are such sticklers for 'physical IDs' it would be good to let the patrons know at the time they queue up, not after 45 mins wait. (or put it on your website). And lastly, don't you reckon its high time you guys go 'digital' as the world moves on.cheers

[P. S - While we waited, there were at least 2 couples who were let in without any ID checks. Felt like we were the exception rather than the rule]

Attaboy is the only reason me and my Wife wanted to visit New York and it was completely worth it. It definitely deserves to be one of the best bars in the world. Great overall experience! Delicious Cocktails! Awesome customer service! Can't wait to visit again.

We arrived around 7: 45 pm and waited in line almost 40 minutes just to put our name on the list. The man at the front said he would call us in about 10-15 minutes to be seated. Called us at midnight when we were already home for the night! Was really looking forward to trying this place. Don't tell people 10-15 mins if in reality it will take 4 hours.

Also, you should really advertise that you are still checking for proof of vaccination. The mandates in NYC have ended! Yet the man at the front still asked us for proof of vaccination when we enter. This is the first bar that has asked me for a vaccine card since mandates dropped.

Response back to owner - you can advertise this on your website! I personally do not like to support businesses that support these mandates (and I know plenty of people who feel the same). Easy fix adding to your website or even adding a sign to the front of your door.

This is definitely one of the best cocktail bars I know, and I have been to many of them, all over the world. If you are looking for a quiet place, this is not for you, but the atmosphere is great and they know their craft. Classic cocktails are great here and I'm sure their signature cocktails are too. Just mind that there can be a long wait on busy days, which is almost everyday.

My favorite bar in NYC. I've never had a drink like I've had here at Attaboy's. This is next level mixology/bartending. I live in Brooklyn currently and really loathe coming into the city but when I do, I try to grab a drink here. Also, a must for people visiting us and want a "cool, NYC" experience. The place is small but cozy and the staff are all kind, knowledgeable people that want you to have the BEST experience.

My brother and I were lucky to snag some seats in this neat speakeasy after our dinner on a weeknight.

Inside we found ourselves in a very intimate and quaint spot. The concept was pretty cool in that they don't use menus and create drinks based on the type of alcohol you choose. I opted for a gin cocktail and my brother chose a whiskey cocktail. Each libation packed a punch for sure, however bartenders seemed to only have a basic memorized menu.

Overall service was very attentive yet relaxed, and the place did fill up even on a weeknight. Worth visiting at least once.

First time here and absolutely loved it. Honestly, after leaving a BYOB comedy show at "Sesh" located around the corner from Attaboy, I was feeling lucky to have came across this gem. Perhaps it was my lucky day but there was a wait line to get on the wait list that took about 15 min and the weather was decently cold. Once on the wait list we waited at the "Grey Lady" which felt like we were crashing a birthday party, hence the 2 & 5 shaped balloons. Were they turning 25 or 52, that I still don't know. After 2 rounds of drinks we got a call from Attaboy to return and a spot opened up. Once inside, we realized how intimate the atmosphere was, candles lit up the place just enough. No cocktail menu, it's all based on your taste and they'll whip up some great. Sadly I forgot to take pictures. Definitely will have next time.

“Huh? ” Sorry let me rephrase and clarify.
Waited for 1+ hour in the freezing cold for us to see the doorman let someone else who had gotten there after us go in. So not fair, but wait, the messed up thing is that when he came out to let them in, he didn’t even bother letting us know we weren’t gonna get in … so he just had us waiting in the cold and was not even sorry or sincere about it! Seems like this placed has wronged a lot of people the same way.

My favorite bar in the city. Extremely small so be prepared to kill time after putting your name down, but worth the wait in every way. Every drink is custom made for you and 10/10. Pricey, but worth it!

We came here tonight to celebrate my friend's birthday. It's been so long since I've been to a bar like this, and I've missed it so much. We had a wonderful time in a booth in the back, and our drinks were outstanding.

Tonight 12/24/2021 Christmas Eve, my wife and I wanted to drink "penicillin" in this place, but at the entrance a boy very similar to COSTANTINO DELLA GHERARDESCA first asked us for the name and telephone number, then with some hallucinating ways he told us to go and drink elsewhere and wait for his call, with a serious and emotionless look. Obviously there was no call nor did we stay in the area waiting for him. If I were the owner I would better choose the members of their staff. Don't scare anyone CONSTANTINO.

Whilst drinks are great. The waiter (not at the bar) was the rudest I’ve encountered in a long while in New York. Not helping us choose a drink and basically kicked us out as we were about to order a third round.

Cocktail service doesn’t get much better than this. You’ll probably have to wait a bit for the call that a spot has opened up, but I didn’t mind. I ducked into a great little bar across the street and the call came after one drink there. Once inside I was immediately seen to and let the bartender know what I was looking for. The drink that came was one I’d never had and suited my taste. Bartender was charming and welcoming and wore the hell out of a dope denim shirt. Salud!

Probably my personal favorite bar in NYC.

The vibe here is super chill, the bartender would come to your table and ask about your preference, and make a custom cocktail for you.
Of course, if you know any classic cocktails you want to try, just tell them what you want and you will not regret.

As for something in general best for their drinks, I would recommend something fruity, either light or heavy on alcohol.
The first time I ordered something with Whiskey but fruity, they gave me the Gold Rush and it was fantastic.
Maybe it’s because of winter, they added strawberries in the Gold rush, which is really smooth and awesome.

For classic cocktails, I would especially recommend their Sidecar and Penicillin.
Their sidecar has a strong fragrance of Brandy and citrus. It is strong but not overwhelming.
Probably one of the best sidecar I’ve ever had.

Their Penicillin is really outstanding as well. The peated whiskey itself is strong, but honey within it makes it really smooth and easy to drink.
If you really hate peated whiskey or ginger, I would say you can pass this. Otherwise definitely give it a try!

The only thing is that it is super popular. It is normal that if you come at 10: 00 and you need to wait to 1: 30 to get seated.
You don’t have to stay to wait, but you need to arrive within 15 mins when they call you.
I would recommend come here EARLYYYYYY and get seated earlier.

Definitely a recommended bar in NYC!

We make it a point to come here each time we are in NYC! It's been a few years now but still was as good as I remember. The bartenders are always friendly, and welcome ideas as to what type of drink you would like. My favorite this visit were the tiki drinks, but they can make just about anything you dream up! The space is small, so plan to wait for a while. We put our name in, and wait at another local until there's a spot available. Can't wait until next time.

If I could give 0 stars for their customer service, I would. I arrived to the bar close to 7pm and was told that there was a waitlist and there were 6 parties ahead of me. The hostess refused to give me an estimated wait time. Based on the other people waiting, people had been waiting for over an hour and had been told that 2 parties were ahead and should receive a call as soon as their table opened up. I decided to go back to the bar 3 HOURS later to check in with the hostess and confirm how much longer I needed to wait and was told that there were 5-4 parties ahead of me. I asked how much longer we needed to wait since we had already waited for so long and once again she informed me that she’d just call me and that I wasn’t allowed to wait in the area. I ended up leaving the place and waited to see if they would finally call me in the next hour or so…, they NEVER called. Based on the other near local bars, this happens often where people wait for over 3 hours for Attaboy and still don’t get called. It’s now the next morning and I have 0 missed calls from anyone.

Drinks may be good but guy managing door was extremely rude, and wouldn’t let people waiting to enter sit outside at the empty tables while they waited - even though it was 30 degrees and no customers were using them! He made us stand just behind the chairs instead. We also watched him dismiss many people while we waited and was extremely short tempered and condescending. Come on man, have some humanity and use your common sense instead of treating people like garbage!
