Aux Merveilleux de Fred reviews
18Fine croissant, good chocolate. Even purchased at 8: 30 it wasn't warm. Tasted more like a bun.
Great pastries at very reasonable prices for NYC. I’ve probably eaten at least a hundred pastries from here at this point and haven’t gotten tired of them yet
I tried the bread pudding and Le Merveilleux and it was all sooo good. I’m definitely coming back.
White chocolate Merveilleux is to die for, one of the best desserts in NyC. Place is cool and original.
If you love French pastries, you have to check out Aux Merveilleux de Fred. It's a cozy bakery with a variety of delicious options. You can find sandwiches, croissants, cramiques, and more. But the star of the show is their mini merengues! They are light, fluffy, covered with whipped cream and than in chocolate shavings or different toppings, and they literally melt in your mouth.
They are not cheap, but they are worth every bite. You can enjoy them yourself or share them with your friends and family as a lovely gift.
When we first ordered the little merveilleux cakes they have we only got 2: one chocolate and one white chocolate. But after tasting them we had to go back and get 6 more the same day! (This time we also tried the caramel and coffee flavors which were both very good)
Naturally, we also ordered a large the chocolate chip bread for the house and it's really good. I like it best toasted with a little butter on top with a cup of coffee:)
Aux Merveilleux de Fred is a beautiful little bakery not to miss! The puff pastry’s a magical experience! Service is always very friendly and welcoming. A taste of Paris in New York!
Staff at this location is always warm and welcoming. My go to spot for croissant's, one of the best in the city. Their waffles are quite amazing as well.
Pretty great meringue desserts! They have many different types of flavors and toppings and they come in a small or larger size. They have really good croissants as well. No inside seating but during warmer months they have two small benches that you can sit on while you eat.
This is your day fathers that have been alienated from your child. Please make sure you celebrate yourself today.
I just stopped by here to get some more sugar so I can continue to run the streets of New York City. Live your life
Learned a new word and a new dessert here - Merveilleux. In English, it’s a combination of meringue and cream, but of course, more complex. We tried the big chocolate one and their coffee. Price was not horrible, with tax, 2 coffee and a big dessert for $17, same level as a typical New York bakery. Most seats are on the loft. The bench was comfortable. But since it was a self served space, and we didn’t see cleaning wipes provided, some tables were quite dirty; the trash was so full.
I don't know how to even describe the beautiful treats that come from this place. It's an absolute masterpiece. From first glance you would think that these desserts would be super heavy but they are extremely light. But while they are also light they are so rich and delectable in flavor. If you want to give someone you love that has a sweet tooth an absolute treat, this is the place. Or if you want to impress someone you adore. I will be here to visit every time I get a chance. 1000/10
12/10/2022, Sat: Very high quality french pastries at this Aux Merveilleux de Fred in the west Village on 8th ave just north of Jane St. Croissants, Brioche with raisins or chocolate chips or a chocolate ganache, and recently I went back and tried their famous Merveilleux pastries in the small sizes, which are gluten free, and contain mostly egg whites, yet have 1 of 6 flavors on the outer surface from dark chocolate shavings, white chocolate, coffee, caramel, praline (hazelnuts), chestnut, and amarena cherry where they actually use real cherries. Among the fastest and friendliest and most elegant setting and service in the west village.
- 3/20/2023, Monday: Took out the dark chocolate chip brioche just before closing at 7: 30pm, and it was still very fresh and of high quality.
- 5/13/2023, Saturday 6pm: Took home a selection of the raisin, plain, and chocolate chip brioche, and all of the bread was very fresh, tender, and sweet.
OMG! It was Sooooooo Amazing! I would greatly give 10 Stars if I could! I just came across this while walking to my hotel and I went back every day!
So glad they finally opened their stores in NYC. Absolutely love the mini merveilleux. If you like meringue desserts, you definitely should try this place. Also their filled Flemish waffles are really good!
The type of place you almost want to gatekeep. The brioche sandwiches are some of the best in the city.
Pro tip: get there before noon!
First and last time there! Customer service was terrible. I get it it’s the end of the day, but simple hello and thank you would be more suitable rather than that look which clearly stated “get out” I come from different state to enjoy NYC croissants. (Food in general) This croissants are worse than grocery croissants; tiny and burnt, plus they had sour taste. Bread pudding was even worse; no taste at all, dried out and consistency was odd.
Downright terrible service from the I guess 19 year old skinny Black American guy (I am black as well, just want to call him out specifically). Barely said anything to us, shrugged at me when I had a problem with my order. I never leave reviews and my last time there was much better.
