Avis Car Rental, Syracuse NY

They'll come up with whatever price they want and still change it. I was told $500 at counter, got the same car for $75 online. Guy didn't like that, charged me $275 claiming I would be refunded. (I was not).

This place charged us 1249.00 for a 4 day mini van rental which was only 284.00for the week a one-way 500 fee and we got charged before and after. Oh I forgot we returned it 2 days early as well. AvIS IS THE MOST EXPENSIVE PLACE AND CUSTOMER Service LIES.

Our vehicle was supposed to be a Toyota Camry or similar. We got a Dodge Durango Hemi SUV instead which only averaged 19.5 mpg. Furthermore the FOB only worked intermittently when locking the vehicle and we had to manually lock it from the inside of the vehicle numerous times. Also the front and hood of the vehicle was covered with bugs and dirt so it was apparent that it was not recently washed. I do not blame the representative at the counter as our flight was late and we could not pick up the vehicle until almost midnight. Also the exorbitant surcharges and 20% tax is ridiculous taking a $70.99/day rental with an 11% discount for 4 days to $415.

Nice employees and very helpful to stranded traveler. Dropping off vehicles not as well, opened too late now have to wait for receipt to be mailed to me.

Easy pick up and drop-off. Was renting a mid size SUV, during check out for $9 more, I got a very fun and great looking Jeep SUV, very happy and well worth cost.

Drop off was very easy.

Rental experience at Syracuse Airport was stellar! Could not ask for better customer service at pick up, the car was perfect for our needs and very clean and fresh, and the entire process was well organized without any issues.

I had an easy and wonderful experience with Avis after a very terrible one with Hertz at the same location. The staff member was extremely helpful and was able to get me a rental immediately. No fuss, vehicle was clean, super easy drop off. A great experience. Stay far away from Hertz as their employees are very rude and unprofessional.

This is not the fault of the desk clerk who gave me my keys, but the car I initially picked up smelled terrible. It had a very strong cigarette smoke odor that didn’t go away, even after driving to my hotel with the windows open. I returned the next morning and exchanged for a different vehicle. This is the second time this has happened at the Syracuse airport location.

Being disappointed is a understatement. It's very clear to me that your employees do not take the time to inspect the vehicle for safety concerns. The tires is beyond the point of replacement and is unacceptable to rent to anyone! Then to have me wait in line to receive a vehicle that is clearly not what I reserved. Then again to wait in line to receive a vehicle that finally was safe to drive and met my requirements as a mid sized SUV. It shouldn't be up to the counter agent to try and convince me a Toyota corolla Cross is a mid sized SUV is completely a waste of my time and to be completely honest with you I was at that point losing my patience with the incompetence of the counter agents. I hope you can retrain your employees to understand that bald tires on a vehicle is unsafe and can cause a accident that can result in death driving a car with no tread. Every vehicle should be inspected before renting it out to anyone is horrible and shows me the laziness that the employees can not take the time to do that.

The customer service was excellent. Despite the long line of people they were very patient and helpful.

This particular Avis has stranded me in Syracuse two times now with the late night flight and closing where I was unable to pickup my car. This despite calling them before booking, them assuring me they had my flight info and would have someone still there for my car pickup.

Excellent job as usual. Avis is the best for service, price and quality of vehicle. This is why I always choose them for rentals.

Our rental was for a pickup at 11pm, our flight came in after midnight but it was no issue in getting our rental. The young lady at the counter was so helpful, and had such a great attitude through the entire transaction. We originally had a pickup truck reserved, however we asked about something that would fit more passengers, and she upgraded us to a van at no additional cost since they were running low on pickup trucks. Great, GREAT customer service! I've always chosen to rent with AVIS the past 10 years, and will continue to do so. Thank you Syracuse Hancock Avis for an easy pickup and drop-off transaction!

Check in and out was quick. Reps were very helpful. The car was spotless. I will rent again

When I arrived at the Syracuse airport, I originally had a reservation with Enterprise. Although I had the email confirmation and all.they would not honor my reservation and were extremely rude and arrogant, so I was stuck. I took a chance and went to the AVIS counter. Michelle at the Syracuse Hancock Airport counter was amazing. She helped me out, called the garage, and was able to get me into the only car available. She was quick, congenial and very understanding of my situation. I will be renting from AVIS again.

This Avis pickup counter was located directly in the airport terminal, which was very convenient. Picked up my car without a wait, and was on my way in 10 minutes, definitely recommend.

It was a great experience with Avis, great customer service, extremely professional and fast.
I would recommend Avis to everyone, for now on Avis is my first choice every time. Thank you.

Make sure to NOT leave anything of any value in the car cause they will steal it.

I left a plush toy I bought my daughter and a $20+ bag of gourmet chocolates I got for the wife in the back seat of the rental. I dropped off the car and not even 10 min later I realized I left the bag. They took the car over to the cleaning area… instead of taking the bag and all it’s contents to Lost and found, they threw the bag in the trash but not before taking and keeping the bag of chocolates. When asked nobody knew anything about the chocolates. The manager on duty “Ron” said he’d have to look into it and call me back, but he would just discount $20 from the rental. It’s been almost a week and I’m still waiting for the call…

DO NOT rent their baby seats. They are of awful quality and extremely unsafe. No base for infant seat and made of paper thin plastic
