Azulejo fine mexican cuisine, Smithtown NY

This is my first time adding a restaurant review… I just feel like this time I had to! I went to this place having great expectations based on the reviews but I instead got incredibly disappointed. Atmosphere was terrible, felt like a funeral, that should’ve been my first sign, place was empty at 7pm, it was just us and another table. The food was sooo bad that we couldn’t believe our eyes, it looked and tasted terrible. Fajitas were covered with soy sauce that we couldn’t even see the peppers, it was all burned, black and tasteless. How can you get fajitas wrong? We ordered chicken wings for appetizer and they were so lame and plain and freezer burned. Rice was hard as a rock and seemed preheated and old. Steak was over cooked and tasteless! The drinks were just ok, nothing special. Fajitas were either chicken, steak or Shrimp and when I ordered them mixed the waiter made a face and charged me $35 without telling me that the mixed fajitas would be a surcharge this high… it was $23 originally for 1 pick and the portion was ridiculously small. The prices were also unreasonable for the quality of the food and place. I’ve been to all types of restaurants, high end, regular, casual, and this is the only place I have hated to visit with all my gut. We still tipped the waiter because it wasn’t his fault and ate the food because we were soooo starving and I had my kid with me that needed to eat, otherwise I would’ve returned everything and left.

My second time here as it is a favorite of s family member. I don’t do Mexican often but this place is solid!

The food was amazing, especially the empanadas! The waiter (I unfortunately don’t remember his name) provided above and beyond service! I mentioned a food allergy and he made sure that all the food brought to the table was free of that allergen. All the staff were super friendly as well!

Went here for a birthday brunch on a sunday after golf.was concerned when we were the only ones in the establishment. My fears were alleviated once the service and food started arriving. We were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food and the level of hospitality. Recommend if you are in the area.

Used to be one of my favorite restaurants - but lately the portions have been small and the taste average. Very disappointed. Won't be going back.

My mother and I came here for lunch, we each got the carne asada platter and Piña coladas. Service is great! Be patient when you walk in as the server will come to you when he is done with a table!

This restaurant is a rip off. This is our first time trying this place. We decided to order take out. Their quesadilla is like an appetizer. Mind you it's part of their main course. We also order mole poblano and their serving is like kids size. Overall food wasn't bad but the portion for the price is not worth at all. I wouldn't come back.

The food is very homemade and seasoned perfectly. The natural margaritas are my favorite bc no sour mix and quality ingredients. Definitely try the beef and sausage empanadas but I had the menu and it’s all good. They also have a happy hour menu with app specials!

I took my mother and grandmother for Mother's Day. We all loved the food and can't say enough about the service. They were very courteous and attentive. Great music and the place was very clean. We will definitely go back there.

Absolutely delicious. The servers are fantastic. Make sure you have a margarita - you won’t regret it! We literally refer to Azulejo as “the delicious margarita place”!

Hands down the best meal you could ask for. Friendly and attentive service and the food is second to none.

Loved this place! Good vibes, authentic food, the birria tacos were an out of body experience. Everything from the chips & salsa, to the margaritas, to the entrees and dessert were delicious. Service was on point as well! Highly recommend!

The staff and the food is amazing. I had the chicken fajitas they were amazing and my hubby had the chili ground beef enchiladas so good. We will be back again.

The food was good, but they didn't have the dish I was looking for. The table side guacamole was very good and the pitchers of margaritas were great. They finished off our meal with a delicious shot of apple infused tequila, which was a nice touch. When we arrived they were playing fun Spanish music, about half way through the meal it switched to generic pop. It was a fun atmosphere.

Food was pretty good (enchiladas) and desert was great (Churros and Fried ice cream) however if you want to spend the rest of the night on a toilet and having difficulty sleeping at night cause of butt hurting I wouldn’t recommend coming here
