Restaurant Baekjeong NYC reviews
17 I don’t usually leave reviews. But my recent experience at this restaurant deserves one. The server that helped us came back to us upset about his 10% percent tip and demanded more. Since when are servers so entitled and tips a requirement? I used to be a server at multiple restaurants in the past. And never did I ever expect tips. Contrary to that, I was always grateful for the clients tips.
This tipping culture has gotten out of hand. Employers should charge more for their good and services and pay their employees a proper living wage. Stop putting it on the costumer to make up for the gap.
Many of us would happily pay more for a service if already included in the purchase price.
It was kind of pricey for what you get, me and my partner felt like it wasn’t all of that they had mostly fatty meat on the $100 meal.
More young people oriented Korean BBQ. The meat quality was decent. Fairly good selection of beef and pork. Cold noodles were over cooked. I do not suggest it. Lunch on the weekend was not too busy.
One of my favorite kbbq places in NYC. Their signature grill has corn and egg around the side and you can get it refilled.
The meat quality is delicious and they give plenty of sides.
You can get on line with Yelp since there's usually a long wait.
Nevermind the elevated price these days. The quality of the meat in the beef combo is not on par with what I've come to expect from Baekjeong after numerous visits to their locations in southern California. There was too much fat and tendon and the meats were starting to char on the outside. You can do better at other restaurants in the area.
After a long trip to New York, I ate dinner here. I ate beef combo sauce, but the amount is a bit small. Chadol is mediocre, and Salchi is not so good ㅠㅠ. Seasoned ribs are even better. Among them, the kimchi jjigae is delicious. Compared to the price, the quality is a bit poor. And it's too bad for a family meal
Amazing EVERYTHING!
Service - waited 45 minutes for a table, efficient waiting process, you can wait outside with temperature controlled seating space. Staff was super friendly and helpful (especially if you’re a first timer!). They explained everything and how to use the side dishes to combine the flavor profiles. 10/10.
Food - While this is not all you can eat, there is great value for money. You can easily opt for a 2 person meal and have 3 persons fill up comfortably. Great cuts of meat, marinated well. Shoutout to the Kimchi Soup for that flavor explosion!
Environment/Ambiance - 2 floors, bigger groups are segmented into separate tables. While smaller groups are typically sharing a large table with individual grills. Can be a tad bit cramped.
Force one of my family members (who can't even speak English) to give almost 25% tip (50 dollars cash!). So disgusting and uncomfortable! Such greedy bullies! Never go there again!
It was great the servers cook your meat. It gives you the opportunity to focus eating. We had sonu beer and the meat package special they had. The side dishes were all good and if you want more ask for more. If you want rice you do have to ask for it
This is my favorite spot for KBBQ in NYC. I take everyone who visits from out of town here and they have always loved it. The meat portions in the set are excellent and the sauce they have to dip meats in is the best around! Their pancheon/side dishes are many and the staff are extremely diligent in refilling them. There's the added bonus of having egg and corn-cheese cooking around your meats, giving even more options in an already plentiful meal. I'm a huge fan on haemul Paejeon (seafood pancake) and they get the flavors and even more importantly the texture right. You can't go wrong here! Plus they always play a fun mix of classic and current kpop which lends a nice vibe. Seriously, give it a try, this has been my go to for all special dinners for years!
Came here with friends and my bf to celebrate my birthday although the food was good service wasn’t that great but I’ll definitely come back again.
The worst service I have ever experienced in Korean restaurants, the girl taking order had been always in a poker face, after our complaining to the guy when paying the bill, the guy showed a indifferent face as well, the food was fine only the rib was a little burned. The only thing I have to say is that there are bunch of choices around the community, be wise to choose a one with better service!
Consistently good experience every time we’ve come. The Yelp waitlist is a huge plus since you can get on the waitlist first without being there.
You will always very easily find a better BBQ restaurant. This place is super expensive and the quality has deteriorated a lot! We paid over $100 per person and only got 5-6 slices of beef.
Just like Korea! But with snake river farms beef and ibérico pork premium cuts. My fav in k town for BBQ, LOVE the scallion pancake, naengmyeon cold noodles, steak tartare and spicy rice cakes. For meat cuts, the thin flower sliced pork belly, pork jowl, ibérico pork collar, marinated shortrib, thinly sliced brisket, honey and garlic cubed boneless shortrib and snake river farms center cut boneless shortrib. Their signature grill is surrounded by corn cheese and steamed egg moats.
• large beef package - just right for a party of four.got lost in which meat was what but just know they were all soft and cooked without fault.
• yuzu grapefruit cocktail - could use a lil more acidity.it’s more grapefruit than yuzu but very pretty.notes
took my mom, and two younger siblings out for mother’s day.arrived at 11: 44a and no one was there, the moment it inched closed to 12a, people started lining behind real quick.i appreciate the server as he answered our questions and tended to our needs with haste.overall, an all rounder.i’d like to come back and try the meals as well.
Really cool spot and experience. The food was good very flavorful the meats and steaks were tender. Only reason for not 5 stars was the drinks were slow and inconsistent and the atmosphere was a bit loud and chaotic. Otherwise great time.
