Bagel Express, Setauket- East Setauket NY

First time coming here and was so shocked on how rude the guy was who ran the register that I felt obligated to write a review after reading others complaining about the same thing. The ladies were sweet and made my bagel no problem. But I didn’t know I had to be called up to the counter to pay. So when I went up, the man ignored me, grabbed his phone to text, and then after a few seconds finally looked up to me to rudely tell me to step away and that he’ll call me over when the food is ready. He said it with a horrible attitude and scoffed at me while shaking his head, as if I intentionally tried to do something wrong. I will definitely not be going here again and telling all my coworkers who asked me how I liked it to not come here as well. Bagel was nothing special either.

Egg bagel with bacon egg and cheese. Everything including coffee was perfect.
Great people here.

The bagels are always delicious as are the coffee and the coffee cake. The only thing to know is that the line can be a little chaotic, but as long as you line up along the wall to place the order and not at the register, you'll be fine.

Really bad. Worst coffee I've ever had. Asked for two eggs on a roll with cheese and salt and pepper. Enough pepper on there to choke horse. Disgusting!

Service sucks 3 times i hadda walk out due to guy at register stairing at his phone and paying no attention to people needing to place orders

I’ve been going to this place since it opened and have seen it grow to a number of locations.
I like the bagels do I think they are worth over $3.00 for a bagel? No! But I do mind when they start charging for slicing a bagel calling it a preparation fee. What’s next?

I ordered a bagel with nothing on it just toasted a bagel with nothing on it cost $1.95 I understand costs have gone up I was charged 395 just to toast it nothing on it they charge two dollars to toast a bagel when I asked I was told that the people behind the counter don’t make much I don’t think that extra two dollars goes to them it goes to the greedy owner next time I

The place was busy. Ordered 4 bagels with nothing on them. Waited 10 mins then asked the person behind the counter about my order. He then stated you have to wait until the grill orders are finished first before you can get your order. So waiting over 10 mins for just some plain bagels. Won't go back there again.

Horrible. No order inside. Long wait. Over priced. But if you like a super greasy egg sandwich then this is your place. Poor quality bacon too. Watched the grill man pick egg shells out with his finger, lose cooked eggs onto the grill wall off the spatula. Yeah I'll keep on driving if I'm ever back out this way.

Favorite place for a bagel and hot coffee. I’ve been coming to this place before it was even Bagel Express, a staple in my regular go tos. Always good and consistent.

Amazing bacon egg and cheese close to Stony Brook University! Staff was very friendly and helpful, and there were so many types of bagels. Must have hangover breakfast.

Clean store - adequate parking - great food. The bagels here are very consistent and seasoned just right in terms of toppings.

1.95 a bagel? What am I even witnessing? They taste like store bought bagels and you can’t even see them prior to buying.

Bacon egg and cheese had 2 tiny pieces of the cheapest bacon they could find that weren’t even crispy. I didn’t even taste the cheese. Cheap ingredients for expensive prices. But don’t worry you get the tiniest orange juice I’ve ever seen for free! …that is also the cheapest thing they could find.

Should have just went the extra mile for good bagels in st James

I have been going to bagel express since they opened. Great food and love the owner, Dave. But there is a "manager" Eric there that belittles, embarrasses and yells at the staff in front of the customers. He raises his voice and brings it to the next level. It is extremely unprofessional, unnecessary and excessive. There is no need for anyone to talk to the staff like that especially in front of customers who become visibly uncomfortable during these situations. It is a common behavior from him that I see over and over again. I know plenty of people who have unfortunatley stopped using this business because of Erics behavior. Staff flow in and out of there like water and its obvious to why. I feel terrible for the staff for they are all amazing hardworking individuals who do not deserve to be embarrassed at this level in front of customers.
