My wife and I spent a wonderful day at Bang Bang at the beginning of November. We are from Austria and the artist Maks had already discussed the concept and our ideas with us in an online session weeks before our appointment. We then met in person in New York two days before the tattoo was done and Maks took the time to go through everything again and design the tattoo. It turned out that we would both need longer for our tattoos than originally agreed, but Maks just said that he would do it for us. And for a really fair price.
The day of tattooing was long, but very nice. Maks took his time. The atmosphere there is very cozy. There's a snack bar and all kinds of drinks where you can just grab a drink. We were invited for lunch in between. Our tattoos are amazing and we are more than happy with them.
In the end, the more than twelve-hour stay was a great experience. Thank you Bang Bang and thank you Maks!

This was my first experience at bang bang and certainly won’t be my last. I got my work done with Basil. While I was nervous that I didn’t have a design going in, she took her time during our consultation to make sure it was exactly what I wanted. Probably the best experience I’ve had getting a tattoo.

Had 3 little dragons done on my shoulder by Choiyun. She was sweet, professional, careful with the details I requested. Excellent artist, I’m so glad I found her. I LOVE my tattoo!

This was my fourth tattoo at Bang Bang, my second with Jay. I have always had a positive experience with the artists and the staff. Jay’s details on my coneflower are amazing, he is very professional and considerate to work with. He captured my vision perfectly.

Really clean and modern tattoo shop. Free snacks and drinks while you wait. Staff were friendly and nice. My tattooist Basil was also friendly, talented and so pleasant to work with. She did an amazing job!

My granddaughter and I visited the Bang Bang studio on Broome Street a year ago and had such a great experience, we decided to return this year. The décor of the studio is simple but perfect – not cluttered or too busy. The staff – to a person - are friendly and truly seem to enjoy their jobs. They go out of their way to make you feel welcomed and comfortable and go out of their way to make sure your time there is memorable.

My granddaughter and I received 2 tattoos each from Jay Shin. We traveled from Florida to be tattooed by him and we were not disappointed. He is a fantastic artist – meticulous and a perfectionist. He listened carefully to what we wanted and made recommendations that reflected his artistic eye and his understanding of what we envisioned. He stayed very late to complete our tattoos – a very long day for him. I cannot recommend him strongly enough. I definitely hope to work with him again.

Was it expensive? Absolutely! But worth every penny. If you want a cheap tattoo, there are plenty of shops where you can pick a design from flash on the wall and get it done in 30 minutes. But if you want a work of art, spend the money and go to Bang Bang.

Natashia is such an incredible artist, and so kind, my experience at bang bang was amazing! I cannot wait to go back and book with her again:)

I can’t speak highly enough of this studio.
My first experience at Bang was around this time last year. I had fallen in love with their artist Kristi’s work and was traveling from out of state to get a pretty sizable piece from her. I had gotten partway in to my journey and they called me and shared that she had woken up super sick and that we would need to reschedule. I was devastated, but chose to visit NYC anyway. I stopped by to reschedule and was greeted by the kindest, most accommodating people I’ve ever met. Kristi rescheduled for my next available day (her day off, mind you), and they even reimbursed me for my travel expenses, totally unprompted. I was blown away, and couldn’t wait to come back.
I returned for my tattoo and had the most incredibly chill and pleasant tattoo experience. Kristi was an angel and so fun to talk to. And they have the best snack drawer in the entire tattoo world. It’s unmatched.
And of course, the important part, the tattoo itself. GORGEOUS. Amazing quality work, it healed flawlessly, and I get tons of compliments from people astonished that such a tattoo is even possible.
I returned to see Kristi two more times, each experience even more special than the last, before she moved away to be closer to family.
I was sad to see her go, but more than happy to branch out and see what more of this magical studio’s artists had to offer.
Fast forward to yesterday, my fourth Bang Bang tattoo with the brilliant Michelle Santana. I’ve since moved to NYC so the commute was much more favorable.
I’ve become a familiar face to a few of the assistants, which makes me feel SO cool, and they always greet me warmly.
Michelle did a very special and personal piece for me, and my god did she nail it. Her work is precise, detailed, and just gorgeous. And she’s a sweetheart too! I had been looking forward to working with her for a long time after befriending her during earlier visits, and I really enjoyed my time with her.
I’ve said this before, and I’ll say it again. I’m not wealthy. I’m not a celebrity. I’m a nerdy retail worker with a microscopic apartment in Manhattan that I occasionally go hungry to pay for. But tattoos are forever, and Bang Bang has set the standard for every tattoo experience that I want for the rest of my life. I will always scrounge and save and starve so that I can be a part of this incredible experience. So for those of you asking, “is this really worth it? ”
Take it from me, it is.

Excellent service from the entire team, ROB was my tattoo artist. I recommend it with my eyes closed. I was very satisfied with the results.
