Banh Mi Place reviews
16Had high hopes for this place after walking in and smelling it, left a bit disappointed. Pho broth is fine but lacks punch, and the meat was bland. Excellent noodle portion but I’ve had better soup elsewhere in the neighborhood. Chicken banh mi was decent but too sweet, summer rolls were good. Definitely far from bad but not somewhere I’d return with much excitement
Excellent spot: fast service, great food, friendly staff. Be warned like a lot of nice spots in NYC it has like three tables, so you might need to get lucky to eat sitting down, but we did and had a lovely dinner — both the grilled pork banh mi and the grilled chicken pho were very good.
Unreal banh mi sandwiches, but the other Vietnamese dishes are also on point. Spring rolls are fantastic, and the shredded chicken pho is also amazing. Friendly staff. Food also comes out SUPER quick.
I ordered a pork pho for togo. They only have chick broth. It’s so weird that a pho store doesn’t have beef broth. The pork wasn’t tasted good, I threw out. One more thing, the lady who prepared my order, didn’t wear gloves or use any tong, she just used her hands to get food. After making my order, she went to cutting without washing hands or wearing gloves.
Best banh mi I've ever had. Been there several times in the last month and I cannot get enough. I usually get the classic and the tofu. Very simple but always hits the spot.
We came for Beef Pho and we had Beef Pho.
-1 star for serving. We were dining-in, but still our soup was served in take-out plastic bowl with plastic spoon.
-1 star for a bad balance of noodles/broth. I basically had noodles with some broth (should be another way around).
Broth itself was pretty decent and meat was soft.
Overall it’s not a bad option for take-out if you live nearby and want to eat Pho “right here right now”.
Don’t recommend coming here from far or order delivery. Better look for other options out there.
Food is authentic Vietnamese. Fast service. Besides tasty bánh mì, bonus they also have yummy phở_beef soup which is great from fall to springs, it's pretty good. Prices also reasonable. Mostly food to go but they also have sit down eat in space. Friendly.
This is really more of a takeout. I thought it would be a bigger place to eat but it's not. There's two tables for 2, and three bar stools by the window. It's not good for me to sit on stools so I had to ask someone at a table if I could sit with them. I had the "classic sandwich, " the classic banh mi. It was okay. If I had never eaten a banh mi in my life I would say it was great. The quality of bread could've been better. The filling could've been more. There could've been more pate. I will, however, say that for the area, I was very happy with the price and the service. I came to the area with the intention of having some lunch before going to the museum. It saved me money to have lunch here, rather than pay double the price in the museum. Counter person was very helpful in helping me pick a drink without sugar in it, the green tea. They brought my food to my table when they didn't have to. No attitudes from anyone. Would I come back here again? If I'm in the area, yes. I will also say that I observed that they were very quick with making orders for everyone that was dining in and taking out.
Greatest spot in the universe. I love this spot so much. Best banh mi in the city no question. I LOVE BANH MI PLACE!
Great Banh Mi sandwiches at great prices. What more could you ask for these days?
Don't be surprised with a small wait, the staff is quick but this place is definitely a hot spot so the demand is quite high. Worth it though. Try going off peak hours if you don't want to wait as long.
Good but not great beef pho. Very casual place. Limited seating, but most people takeout anyway. Yummy bobba
Super quick and always tasty, pretty good price. Remember to wear a mask. All of the people working are still fully masking and I’m sure they appreciate when customers do as well.
Overall a good experience. Walking distance from the museum and gardens. Quickly prepared. Good presentation. Packaged nicely. The shrimp didn’t look “real”. I ordered the vermicelli. Good amount of food but the proportion of vermicelli to shrimp/vegetables were 75/25. Wish more bites I could have a whole taste.
As I thought about my experience returning home I remember the guy who took my order specifically said I would get “grilled”
Shrimp. I found that weird. Then when I see this “shrimp” was not not grilled, had no texture, had an imprinted shrimp look it seems they may choose who gets the authentic shrimp and who gets the fake “shrimp” based on that I wouldn’t recommend.
Edit: i got so severely sick after eating this. I had diarrhea and vomiting all day
Pork banh mi was awesome. If it had a little bit of cilantro & jalapeños it would be pretty perfect imo
I ordered medium spicy which i didnt find spicy at all (my spice tolerance is average). Will def try the spicier version next time
Disorganized place. Don't give them the benefit of the doubt that they will let you know, even when you're standing in-front of them, that your order is ready. Your food will just be sitting there getting cold.
This restaurant gave me a pork bahnmi instead of chicken. I am Muslim and this is absolutely unacceptable.
