Thai Restaurant Baoburg reviews
20 Really disappointed in the over mayonnaised Bao. I didn’t think it had anything standout about it. The garlic Chicken and rice was boring, no garlic flavor stood out.
The restaurant is small but kitschy and music was good.
I won’t be going back.
It was my first time trying Khao Soi! It had a warm flavor with a hint of spice. Big portion including the duck. Side pickled veggies were a nice contrast. Ultimately I didn’t find the flavor drew me in enough, combined with a heavy oily and creaminess, I just didn’t finish it! The generous portion helped justify the price, but even if the price wasn’t $30, I’m not sure I’d immediately come back for it. I hope to get more perspective on this dish before passing too harsh a judgement, especially on the restaurant as a whole.
Got the classic bao which was a perfect appetizer for two but the meat was very fatty and very heavy on the sauce which made it hard to eat. The Wok Wok noodles were a little bland and wish there was more veggies in it. Great atmosphere inside with a cute backyard
Top 3 must tries on the menu are the braised short rib ramen, the duck confit khao soi, and the lemongrass noodles. Their broth is rich, portions are massive, and the frozen lychee margarita is a delicious and fruity take on the classic. Their back garden area is ADORABLE. If the weather is nice, I recommend eating in that space.
Kraw Pao is my favorite dish. Bao is pretty good as well! Love to have this restaurant in the neighborhood! Food is way better to dine in!
Daily drive after a long climbing session. Good food, good people, good vibes, good price.
All of their food is very good but the standouts on the menu for me are, the Lemmon grass noodles, banh mi and the short rib ramen. The curry duck leg con fit is also amazing. We’ve been going here for a few years now and food is consistent and the staff are awesome. Drinks are great too. Do yourself a favor and check this place out.
Delivered in perfect eating condition.delicious, surprisingly filling & great value.love the lava buns!
Tasty thai place. Decor is something. They substituted the duck with vegetables for an vegetarian option for khao soi. Their cocktails are amazing, must try when you are there. Although their thai tea was ok.
This little gem is nestled in a quaint part of Greenpoint, Brooklyn. They have an adorable outdoor backyard patio that transports you to Southeast Asia. The Bao is fantastic! Tasty drinks and everything is priced well. My husband and I have ate here many times and have yet to be disappointed.
One of my favorite neighbor spots… great bao buns, duck salad and khao Soi is the best… so much flavor
The Grandma's chicken over rice was pretty good. The Vietnamese sandwich with grilled pork was good.
However, the spring rolls really really sucked
It was $13 for "6" spring rolls. It was 3 regular sized spring rolls cut into half. And two were burnt. And they gave one piece of lettuce.
Cute place with good portions. It's like fast casual but also there is a fish tank so why not take your time. Chill you know?
Decent overall. Main gripe was with what is advertised as "fall off the bone duck leg confit" featured on the Duck N'Rice and Khao Soi. Duck did not taste cured nor did it have the texture of meat that's been submerged in fat and cooked low and slow, but was rubbery and cold, not even close to being a fork-tender confit. The Khao Soi sauce itself though was perfect by contrast and the Imperial Salad was right on the money though a bit more salt/acid would've been welcomed. Looking forward to returning and trying more of the menu.
Had to wait an entire year to eat here again before I moved and even after dreaming of it constantly, it did not disappoint. Everything has so much depth and you can tell the effort that was put into perfecting each dish. The lava buns alone make it worth it, must order!
It’s very relaxing place, I ordered lemongrass noodles, it was pretty good portion and very tasty, absolutely can recommend this place!
Great place to take your friend that is craving something g Asian but can’t decide what. Honestly so good and good drinks too.
The food and atmosphere was amazing. They were quite understaffed when we went but this did not hinder our experience. The waiter that we had was truly incredible and was efficient and clearly well trained in customer service. I highly recommend the food at this place. You wouldn't think that there was much here given it's small footprint and backyard dining kind of vibe but that couldn't be farther from the truth. I will definitely be returning next time I'm in New York.
I had the Hanoi noodles and they were OK. Prefer the vermicelli noodles at Di and Di - way better and meat is more flavorful there.
The people working there were nice - but I just felt the dish lacking in composition and flavor. My bf’s pho was good to me. We also got the larb wings and I just felt like the larb flavor was very minimal. Also the crispy wings were okay. They were crispy but I found some of the wing meat to have a weird taste maybe from being frozen or reheated. I cannot be for sure, but not a fan.
Finally - a Singha is $9 there. Considering it is more of a fast food - order at the counter and the food is brought to you kind of place - found this a little high.
I have been living in Greenpoint for a while and have walked past this place many times. What an idiot I was. Their food is amazing and quite affordable, considering this is NY after all. It is hard to recommend a particular item as you should give them all a try.
Again, can't help by say how much you'd be missing out if you didn't give this place a whirl.
