Barn Joo reviews
30There aren’t a lot of Korean food options near Union square, and we decided to try them out while walking around the park. We got the bibimbap and a kimchi stew and both were excellent. They weren’t cooked by traditional means, but I liked the modern fusion twist on both. Overall, good service and awesome Korean food.
I am in LOVE with Barn Joo. The ambiance is amazing, the decorations for outdoor dining is gorgeous. The drinks and the food taste really great, everything just looks like so much detail was put into it. The owner was also there which in my opinion, adds a nice touch because he seemed to care about his business, he even went around tables asking if everything was okay. Really recommend!
Pretty tasty, not amazing but good enough for a mid level lunch meeting or some time with friends. The food was appetizing looking and the decor is very trendy. Lots of options for vegetarians and vegans as well as meat options. The table was a little wobbly and the bathroom was dusty. I wiped the toilet before I used it. Worth the money for the meal, but not more. Will visit again for lunches, but wouldn't take clients there to impress them.
As a vegetarian, I had a great experience. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu, and the kitchen was able to make any necessary substitutions (e.g, "the stone bowl has fish sauce, and the kimchi has shrimp flakes, but we can have it made without fish sauce or kimchi"). The food was delicious as well.
Had a really great experience at Barn Joo! The service was all around excellent. Food and drinks came out right away, our server was super attentive and friendly, even the host was awesome! I'm a big Korean food lover and really enjoyed the fusion twist each dish had. The popcorn chicken was DELICIOUS, as was the duck bibimbap and pork belly dish. Cocktails were awesome as well. Definitely will be returning!
I Liked the design of the place, very clean, following social distance guidelines, the staff was very nice and welcoming, and they had a very nice music but not too loud.
They have options of outdoor or indoor sitting, and inside you can choose to sit on high or low chairs.
It seems like they are on the pricy side, but the portions were big so it is something to keep in mind when ordering.we ordered the chicken sandwic, the Tteokk & cheese, and it was too much for just two of us to finish. The food was great overall and the entire experience was great
Long overdo. I use to go during lunch back in 2019 and enjoyed that menu. I finally stop by today, glad I did. Miguel and co were pleasent and attentive. Keep it up!
Pretty good food. Wish my ramen was a little spicier but overall tasty. The place itself is really nicely designed.
This is a loud Korean restaurant. Conversations across the table are not feasible because of the noise level inside.
If you order the fish tacos you are supposed to eat them with chop sticks. My salad came with a spoon to eat.
After finishing the salad it turned out the restaurant had forgotten the seasoning/dressing. They just shrugged it off.
All in all not a great experience.
We came here for BBQ brunch and had a pleasant meal. The service was pleasant and attentive. The food came out quick and was tasty.
Get the oyster plate, very delicious! We also got the large beef plate for BBQ and that did not disappoint.
Pretty good Korean bbq. Last time I was here I had the garlic shrimp tacos which were great. It came with a very lovely sauce. I also really like their truffle fries which are just that perfect level of crispy
I mourned the departure of Heartland Brewery from Union Square, but in its exact same place Barn Joo came along, and everything is fine again. This is one of my favorite Korean restaurant-bars anywhere - great bites/sips/views, warm interiors, and an eclectic crowd any day/night of the week!
This place is one of my absolute favorite ways to spend an afternoon in NYC. They open right at noon so you can get in with no wait at all! The food is always top notch and the service is pleasant and kind. I highly recommend this place! Especially in a group!
Enjoyed the food! I like that they aren't as stingy with the spice and the pickled flavors as other places. Shared some truffle fries and those were very enjoyable, in addition to my own kimchi fried rice. The serving sizes seemed pretty generous but most of the options are on the pricy side.
Went there for the happy hour with a co-worker. Happy Hour prices are honored at the bar only FYI. I had a tasty roll and truffle fries. My co-worker ordered a delicious looking plate of oysters and cocktail shrimp. I had the 1-Thyme (soju based cocktail) and Elder Fashioned (old fashioned with St Germain), both were delicious. Would definitely go again for a proper dinner or lunch.
I love this place. Service is Excellent, decor Excellent, food Excellent (love the oysters). Great drinks also.
Oyster happy hour: $1 per oyster
Cocktails: $9
I ordered the Beeline and Elder Fashioned, which got me properly tipsy by the end of the night. The oysters were fresh - I kind of wish they gave more cocktail sauce, but I drink that stuff like soup so maybe it's just me.
Great place for dinner, but I’d recommend finding a cheaper place in ktown for BETTER korean food
I love this place since they open, good food, friendly staff, fresh oysters and awesome cocktails. You have to try K-BBQ here is so good
