It all sounded good on paper, but in execution, was really not the best. The rooms at the lodges are just not meant to be shared by multiple families or groups. The walls are too thin. The air vents allow you to hear full conversations in any room next to yours. The place is so, so hot (I woke up sweating multiple times). Ultimately, I barely got any sleep, and that’s a bummer! So despite being a great location, and a beautiful sight, odds are I’m not staying here again.

Beautiful situated inn.
We had a coffee and thee in the Hiker's café. Nice, but not very clean.
There was an extra door to go out of the cafe, near the tables. That was not pleasant, every time the door was opened it was blowing hard and cold inside.
So this review is only about the Hiker's café.

Our stay was very comfortable. There were a ton of trails right outside our cabin. I wish we weren't just stopping through on our way north, because this would make for an enjoyable vacation stay. They have a ton of activities for everyone and our room was cozy and clean.

OK. Long and short of it all.what's changed about this iconic landmark is the fact since the State of NY turned over the inn into privatisation, well, there's the downfall. Big time.
Still a beaucolic, charming and romantic setting with it's Carousel, skating rink, Zoo and Hessian lake, you can't miss out as a State Park. What is disappointing is the Inn itself has turned a dark corner, not what it used to be, entertaining the general public as a real point of interest where one could spend an entire day enjoying what the State used to offer up; Winter festivals and Octoberfests, and more, it seems that with such History, rich in it's heyday, has ghosted into a long lost novel. OH WELL. Times change.
Not sure for the better.

Bear Mountain Inn was a beautiful location and I had a great time attending a wedding. However, booking experience and staff were a miss. For a wedding venue that hosted a 3: 30pm wedding, they refused to move up their 3pm check in for anyone. This put a large burden on traveling guests. Despite multiple requests to just have rooms ready a little earlier, the front desk staff declined repeatedly stating "industry standards". When asked to escalate a request, they flat out refused.
Accommodations and rooms were not nice enough for the price, and the lack of respect for guest's timelines was a massive turnoff. For a venue that hosts many weddings, you would expect them to schedule more staff to be able to accommodate early check ins.

Stayed here overnight for a night away w/ my husband and it was my second time here as a guest (last time I was here was maybe 2018). I stayed at the inn this time…the room seemed clean, my concern was the shower floor. It was sunken in with a few loose tiles and the floor felt slimy and slippery.it sure was odd. When we got into bed I could not sleep. The bed was hard as a rock and the pillows definitely need to be changed because some were stained (pillows, not the pillow cases) and they definitely needed to be retired. I honestly slept 2 hours. Our only breakfast option was the hikers cafe. We purchased two coffees, 2 small plates of eggs, small pancakes and hash browns.total? $25! The meal truly was McDonald’s quality which is not what I expected from such a nice looking hotel.

The pancakes were the type you’d get at the supermarket, frozen that you’d just heat up. The eggs were just scrambled and thrown onto a small dessert plate.hash browns were VERY greasy as soon as you took a bite. If I could turn back time, I would of went to a diner… I truly felt I wasted my money.
The only thing I enjoyed as my facial at the spa and the decor/area itself. It may be very unlikely I visit back here which I very upsetting because it is such a beautiful hotel: (

I haven’t stay there but I just got off the phone with the most RUDE woman with a HUGE ego and attitude. Couldn’t be bothered answering my questions when she’s working on reservations. I’m sorry what? Isn’t your job to answer the phone and guests questions in regards to accommodations? ! She then went off on me and raised her voice where I felt no other choice other than to hang up the phone and stop the brutal insults from this woman! This is the person they have representing their company! Wow. My goodness lady find a new job won’t you!

A fantastic place to spend a night. Tranquil and warm. I was very comfortable with my stay. I slept like a baby.

Very well kept and welcoming spot. They provide big portions and for fair prices. I enjoyed the food a lot and the staff were very friendly and explanatory. Recommended.

My husband and I got married here and this venue is horrible! Only reason why I am giving 2 stars is bc Alysa and Tracey are wonderful! This venue is so poorly run. Customer service is 0/10. Absolutely no communication between anyone. You’re going to want to book it bc the views and the venue is stunning but it’s not worth the stress and tears! Here’s what went wrong:
1. They DOUBLE BOOKED my wedding date. Wanted me to change my date after I signed my contract and I hired all my vendors and made all deposits. Then they asked me “ if I just wanted to cancel my wedding? “ Signing a contract means nothing to them. They hardly follow it. I had to sign about 5 contracts bc they kept making mistakes.
2. I was allotted a certain amount of rooms for my guests that were WRITTEN AND SIGNED IN MY CONTRACT. Then they told me they gave those rooms away to the Saturday wedding. My ENTIRE family had to be moved to a different location.
*** Originally they told us if we get married on a Friday we get these rooms allotted Thursday and Friday night BUT if we get married on Saturday, we will NOT be allotted these rooms Friday bc the Friday wedding gets dibs. Sooo we chose to get married Friday and they STILL gave our rooms away to the Saturday wedding.
3. The front desk does not know how to function! They can not make reservations. I would have to call on behalf of my guests ALL THE TIME to fix issues. They also take days to return messages. They had my family under multiple room reservations when they only needed one room booked. Luckily they did not get charged for these extra rooms bc I kept on top of them.
4. The day I checked in I was supposed to get the bridal suite in rm 315 and they told me they gave to the Saturday bride! Meanwhile my wedding was on Friday. Instead of giving me the large suite for Friday (my wedding day) and then giving it to the Saturday bride on Saturday (her wedding day) they gave it to the Saturday bride Thursday, Friday and Saturday! And gave me the smaller suite after arguing with them for 2 hours.
5. Valerie (one of the wedding coordinators) THREW AWAY MY WEDDING CAKE AND MY CAKE TOPPER THAT WAS PERSONALLY MADE on Etsy.
Valerie, Gia, (both wedding coordinators) and Saif (the GM) are horrible. They did not help alleviate any issues. They did not care at all how many times I got screwed from them. Gia and Valerie will just stare at you while you’re making legitimate complaints and then they disappear and send someone else to try to fix the problem. Gias way of fixing the fact that they threw away my topper was “ oh we will let you pick out one from our gift shop” like what kind of answer is that? My topper cost me $60 and their stupid cheap statues were like $10 and none of them were actually wedding toppers just statues of bears.
6. Our banquet captain was nice but don’t expect to see her through out the night. We saw her maybe twice. Once In the beginning and once at the end to collect her tip. Didn’t come up to us once to ask if there is something she can do for us. Every time we needed something we had to ask a server.
***Alysa and Tracey were the only saving grace at that place and they both deserve to work somewhere better. Alysa my wedding coordinator is so lovely, organized and attentive. She is also prompt with emails. Tracey- who wasn’t even my coordinator is buying me a new topper and cake! Gia sent Tracey after she didn’t want to help me. Gia went and hid in her office and sent Tracey to alleviate the issue which she did!

This place is a complete ripoff. We spent nearly $300 for one night, they stuck us in a tiny room in the stone lodge. It was awful. Smelled like mildew and was making me sick. I called the front desk, they were pleasant enough and they moved us to the Overlook lodge (the same name as the hotel in The Shining. And every bit as creepy and stomach turning). Overlook also needs a lot of work. Floors of the lobby in Overlook were all chipped. Management should repaint them or put down carpeting or tile. The stairwell was creepy and dirty - it needs a new paint job, the walls were filthy. The lights on the ceiling of the second floor hallway were filthy, filled with dirt and/or dead bugs. There was also clearly a leak and the ceiling itself wasn’t fixed after the leak. A hot mess. Our actual room seemed ok, except the desk chair was all ripped up and super dirty. I just don’t understand, it can’t cost much to even replace a desk chair? There was also a door in our room that led to another door that we couldn’t open. I was definitely nervous someone might come into the room in the middle of the night through that door. Never ever staying here again. Would give 0 stars if I could. NY’s very own Cecil Hotel. Don’t recommend.

Came here for a quick getaway towards the end of summer. Beautiful, scenic and quiet. There’s a spa that looks wonderful, but make sure to book in advance; it seems like they’re quite booked/ popular. Everyone at the Inn was very friendly accommodating. Covid-19 regulations are in place and followed. The in is very clean. The all inclusive breakfast is very sparse, but there is a cafe which is open for hot breakfast. All in all, a great stay for a good price.

The room was very nice, although a little overpriced. Unfortunately, the tv had extremely limited channels (no news channels at all), microwave turntable didn’t rotate, air conditioner was very loud, and breakfast was a bagel and coffee. If you wanted a hot breakfast, you had to purchase it at the hikers cafe. It was simply reheated food. On a positive w, the lake is beautiful. I had a lovely morning walk.

Nice walk around the pond, bring some food and eat at one of their many picnic tables throughout. Don't mind the $10 parking fee.
