Bella Blu reviews
22This restaurant and the people who work there are amazing.the food was the best Italian I've ever had.service was Italian perfection.well go back any time I visit new york
Threes of us celebrated our birthdays and had lunch at Bella blu. The service was fine and so was the distance between tables for outdoor dining. The waiter read the specials and I ordered the Orata. A moderately priced fish I frequently buy at Citarella. The waiter never told us the price of the Orata special. We were charged $51.00 for that dish. I was shocked. Not even Le Bernardin (best fish restaurant in NYC) would charge $51.0O for an Orata. The fish was moderately well prepared but not what I expected. Warning to the uninitiated: if it you ever order from the Specials Menu make sure you ask for the price before ordering.
I eat out frequently and don’t mind paying for good food but I do not like being fleeced.

We have eaten here twice. The first experience was good. We went back a week later and could not have been treated worse. Start to finish the arrogant host/waiter ruined our night out. He ignored us, forgot my meal, and lacked any customer service skills. For the first time ever, I left no tip. Particularly during Covid my tips have been consistently 30%. If you are a new customer, do not waste your money here. Even when we called to explain our bad experience and disappointment, the manager said he would call back after looking into the matter. He never called back. I’m a New Yorker and understand that regular customers receive special treatment, but not to the exclusion of other tables.
For the price this restaurant is absolutely not worth visiting unless you want a charming French man to serve you peronis
People who think they are cool, but actually have no idea about food or wine, squeeze into this swedish sauna on every night of the week.i don't know why! The food is average.the goose sausage (one of the better things we tasted) came in a bitter broth that the chef had clearly not tasted.we had to request olive oil or butter to go with the bread.the "sommelier" recommended a horrid bottle of wine and then dared to suggest we had chosen badly when we said we didn't like it.service is poor - just too busy for the staff and too much pretension.don't waste your time or money.
Went for lunch, so thankful that i made a reservation! The place was packed with ladies who lunch in mink, even though we left our furs at home, our server was great and treated us like regulars.i would recommend the soups of the day, made with fresh seasonal vegetables.the restaurant is beautiful, with colorful murals on the walls and seasonal decorations.recommend the beet salad, pizzas.
This restaurant does not disappoint.it offers consistently good food. Try to go at off hours to avoid the crowds which can be disconcerting.
Food was fine, but servicewise, everything dragged on and on even though the place was almost empty at the time. It was odd.
My wife and I first visited the bella about four years ago when we were on a business trip in NYC. Today I went back with a client for dinner the food and the service was just as I remembered it (great). The waiters and the manger were at our table several times to make sure all was good and it was. We left satisfied and happy. We will be back, but this time with my wife. See you soon my Bella Blu.
The food is very good. Salads are exceptional with freshness and variety. The service can be snotty. The noise is impossible at dinner and can make you go deaf. Lunch is better if you want to hold a conversation.
I have never had a worse experience. Food is average, evening bartender has an attitude but in all fairness the host and hostess are very gracious as is David, the day barman. Overall don't waste your time.
I like the restaurants with a good bar that you can eat your food along with your drink. It's not only that the food should be good but the atmosphere should be good too. Bella Blu is such a place to go in The Upper East. Oh, and the bartender deserves the accolades.
Haven't been here in 2 years now I remember why. After sitting down at bar and asking for a drink and menu I asked if they can make shrimp scampi which wasn't on the menu the answer was NO. I asked the bartender how the Hawaiian Jumbo shrimp is made.he didn't even know it was on the menu I had to show him where it was. After a brief conversation with the clueless bartender who thinks he has a following I decided to ask for my check.
Came with whole family. Everybody enjoyed the food. Great pasta, gnocchi and osso buco. Friendly service. If you speak Italian, then you're at home!
Fun and funky Italian spot where all the beautiful people get seen. Lunch and dinner are always buzzing.
There is nothing I liked about this restaurant. The food was bad, the management unhelpful and
not very nice nor cooperative, and don't ever order the specials, unless you're prepared to sell off your first child.
The chicken parmesan was served in the shape of a pizza and tasted like neither chicken parmesan nor pizza. Very expensive and untasty menu. In fact, you'd be better off actually munching on the actual menu instead.
Nothing to commend this place about.
It was a wonderful experience in this restaurant I must say. Very impressed with the freshness of the food and was very happy to experience the in season truffle straight from Italy.
Expensive, but great Italian food. The service is great - waiters and staff! A true New York experience.
This is a highly over-rated, over-priced restaurant and, what's more, an unethical operation. Classic 'bate and switch' technique used to steer trusting customer (me) from reasonably priced menu items to outrageously overpriced specials without information about the cost. Will never go here again. Never.
Charming upper East side Italian. Lots of lovely Italian servers and guests. Nice atmosphere. Very good food. Pretty expensive.
