I've been a long-time shopper. My mom worked there for many years. Clean, friendly, and can still find those Italian specialties.

Im new to the area started shopping here about six months now. Some of the cashiers are rude and make me feel uncomfortable with me beings 7 months pregnant I get my groceries delivered and they never seem to want to bring my groceries to my door the delivery boy left everything outside while I was telling him to please bring it up because I’m pregnant and had no one to help me at the time he rudely looked at me and brought only 2 out of 5 box’s and still expected a tip
spoked to someone on the phone about the situation but no one seemed to care.

My family and I have shopped at this supermarket for about 5yrs. We like coming here because there’s a variety of items. It’s also very spacious, clean, and the staff are helpful. Upon walking in we are usually greeted by the ladies at the front desk, they are very friendly and also ask to hold any bags before shopping (my guess, due to shoplifters) I would recommend coming here, it’s convenient and store hours are great too:)

Worst market ever. The staff follows you in the store, making you feel like a criminal. I have grown up in the area my entire life, and to be made to feel the way these people make you feel is truly awful. The only good thing about this store is Lucy's greetings. When she makes you feel at ease. The stores policy where my belongings need to be handed over to somebody in the front needs to go.although we all live in Brooklyn, its really a small community that interacts with these local stores. There should be a sense of trust and neighborliness. When I was young I would come here every day with my mother; the owner would always give me lollipops. What a shame, won't be shopping here anymore. A note to the owner - put Lucy in charge, Patty (hopefully that's her name) should never be meant to deal with customers. She is the primary reason I slowly stopped coming to this store. She has a horrific attitude, talks trash in Spanish assuming my husband and I don't understand- (which is profiling because we are both light skin Puerto Ricans) I choose to make good choices and ignore. Engaging would never help anything.

This market needs some serious new management/employees. Everytime I walk into this store I feel like I'm being watched and some seem really racist and the cashiers are very rude. They also check your bags in front!? My husband walked out after they tried asking him to leave his hot bag of food he just ordered from Abby's. Never ever experienced this at a supermarket before. If I didn't have to go to this market I definitely wouldn't but unfortunately new to the neighborhood and it's the only one extremely close by to me so I have no choice if I need to get a few things. Also the prices are pretty expensive compared to other stores. Mangos for $2.99 each? No thank you!

I was in this market maybe the third time in my life. Today after entering I heard - hey miss! Your backpack! What about it? - I asked. They have to check in! I couldn't believe my own ears! I quickly left and will never come back! You have no right to look into people's bags or (as someone mentioned in the opinion below) to force people to leave their bags at the door! Don't expect an influx of customers with these rules! This is pathetic!

Only go here cause it’s close. Been shopping here religiously for over 5 years it’s gone way downhill, definitely overcharges on everything compared to other supermarkets. New cashiers are extremely rude and don’t even acknowledge your existence. When they do they barely say one word to you and I’ve had my change and receipt thrown at me multiple times. New deli worker doesn’t listen to anything you say and likes to make up her own order on your sandwich.

I have been shopping at Bensonhurst Market for the past three years. I shopped here roughly 2-3 times a week; each time spending an estimated $100.00-$150.00. Today (01/31/2023) I entered the store as I always have with my headphones and my backpack on. I was followed by one of the teenage cashiers who left their register unattended to wave me down. He then told me I had to take off my bag and leave it unattended on the floor near the exit. I then looked at the older blonde woman who I am assuming manages the general staff. She nodded and gestured that I leave my bag unattended on the floor near the exit. As someone who has been shopping here for years, who enjoys the more expensive items in a grocery store (salmon, organic meat, first press olive oil, fresh breads), I took this as an insult. To run me down inside of your supermarket and be treated as if I was holding illegal paraphernalia is unacceptable. I can appreciate some level of monitoring what sort of storage customers bring into your store, but when you have a regular who is spending good money on luxury foods, please understand that there is some level of mutual respect that I will not be treated like some low-life who would steal from a grocery store. I don’t bother anyone in your store, and just wish to do my shopping quietly and without such extravagant drama as to be yelled at, flagged down, and stared at by an entire store of people trying to buy their own groceries. For this reason, I will no longer be shopping at Bensonhurst Market.

I would give zero but need to give a star to leave a review. I go here because it’s close to my home. Several times the cashier have been rude. Today cashier Miriam with glasses started speaking Spanish to my young son I nicely said he not Spanish. I’m not Spanish either but I understand it and she was throwing my groceries dwn the belt, my card does not alway swipe well so I gave it to her then she slapped my card on the belt and when we was walking out yelling in Spanish to an very older worker behind the counter where they sell other things. Narrows dwn to overly priced place with rude cashiers. Never spending a dime there again! If you don’t like your job get another one.

Every time I buy purple onions I bring them home and cut into them & they are rotten. The whole supermarket is extremely overpriced. The woman at the deli counter gets upset when you ask her to make breakfast sandwiches and the free coffee she makes is so bad I wouldn’t even ask for it because It’s free.
