Bertha's Diner reviews
21 Great, small, from scratch local diner. My niece had the oreo crumble waffle and gave it a 10/10. I had the homemade hash and it was also 10/10. They fried it up just right so it was crispy on the outside. Eggs perfectly poached.
Warning: The diner is *small*. Would not recommend this place for parties larger than 3. There was a wait to get seated and a wait for our food but we both agreed the wait was well worth it.
I go in Bertha's usually twice a week. The Mother/ Daughter team are awesome. EXCELLENT Breakfast. John Jack
So good! If you have more than a few people in your group be ready to wait outside for a little bit as the place is small. BUT WORTH IT! Don’t get turned away by the size of the restaurant, everything on the menu is incredible!
*this is cash-only diner*
The food was perfect. Came with a large group and the server was very attentive and friendly. 10/10 recommended when you are in Buffalo.
Great diner breakfast! Everything you need, with nothing you don't. Do yourself a favor, get the blueberry banana bread?
My homeboi and I were visiting Buffalo from ATL to watch the Bills play the Pat's. He was decked out in Pat's gear, and as soon as we walked in everyone's attention shifted to us. What could have been a hostile environment turned into a real cool experience. Food was BANGIN too. We had omelets and they were cooked to perfection. We have decided to make Buffalo an annual trip because of this place and we will definitely be back. Side note I hate the Pats too. #GoBills
Had a tasty breakfast. Service was excellent, friendly and accommodating. I have a gluten allergy and they were able to substitute. Place was clean. Highly recommend.
Had a coworker here from NYC during the snow storm. We went there on a humbug and we just loved the mother and daughter duo. Food and conversation was great. Will definitely go back. Thanks ladies
Great food. A little wait, so be patient. Server was on point and made sure our drinks were full while we waited. Limited seating. This is a one cook show, so settle in. Food is served right off the grill and portion size is ample.
The experience started out lovely. Great customer service, until I paid and I made a mistake about the change I got back. Even though I thought she had made the mistake I was graceful with her. She was defensive, impatient and erratic. It made me extremely uncomfortable. We can discuss without having attitudes and make someone who is paying and tipping feel condemned. I finally realized my error in my calculation and called her over to apologize and tip her. She still had an attitude about her and the rest of my time there felt uncomfortable. I understand she was busy but our discussion would've taken the same amount of time, without having to deal with what felt like being scolded. It's unfortunate because the place was nice and started out great. But now unfortunately, I have a bad taste in my mouth.
The food is so good! Staff is so friendly, there is bottomless coffee and for the first time ever in my life visiting diners I was offer a to go cup for coffee. I was able to take an extra cup for the road instead of sitting and drinking it after I've long finished my meal.
Heard nothing but good things about this place, but when I called, I spoke to a absolute peach on the phone. Called to ask for takeout and hostess immediately had an attitude, snapped and said they don’t do anything. I just hope she’s not always in a mood there.
I got the sandwich with the sausage stuffed hot pepper on it. It was soooooo good! The waitress refilled my coffee and water more than enough (thank you!). Also their home fries are insanely good! I've never had them seasoned that way.
Bertha's Diner is the best diner in Buffalo. The staff are wonderful and extremely friendly. The atmosphere is always welcoming. It has everything you crave in a hole-in-the-wall diner experience. Especially the food and their menu. From simple classics like pancakes, Belgian waffles, simple egg breakfasts, and the like. To signature dishes like The Dennis, a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich with a chorizo stuffed banana pepper on it. Or The Rooster, an omelet filled with cheddar cheese and (with my favorite thing from Bertha's) their housemade Corned Beef Hash.
I love Corned Beef Hash. Easily one of the best corned meats out there. The level of quality and flavor that Bertha's housemade CBH (Corned Beef Hash) can't be found anywhere else, in my opinion. It's delicious and honestly, if you haven't eaten their CBH and love it as much as I do, you're missing out. Big time. I will also say that their home fries are crispy and flavorful every.single.time. Something that some diners neglect to address. Bertha's delivers on all fronts and fires on all cylinders.
Treat yourself and go to Bertha's.
Had the best corned beef hash ever here! Loved the atmosphere and friendly staff. They were so welcoming and chatted with me about the neighborhood and things to do in buffalo. Great experience overall and loved that they let you pay with Venmo if you don’t have cash!
Fantastic waffle and chorizo breakfast sandwich. A bit on the slow side, but it's a small diner with a small diner feel. Waitresses we're great and comped our drinks to cover for the wait and chased us down when we left a personal item at the table. Great diner and marked it for a return visit.
Nice little 50's style diner with good home style breakfast. Pleasant (and hard working) staff. Only drawback is the small size but it's worth the wait.
Service was good, sandwich was good, I opted not to get the home fries, The server didn't offer to reduce my bill or make another selection. I kinda get it and I should've asked before confirming my order, but for some reason, it still didn't feel right to me. I use to stop in when they use to serve grits, but I recall my friend getting very sick after a breakfast meal, and it's one of the reasons I haven't been there in years. However, I've always had a decent meal, never awesome, but never bad. It's a small place, but it is a good go to spot for a decent meal and fast service.
It's a tough review to make. The food was really good, but we seen table after table get their food. We sat for an hour till there was a half hour before they closed up till we got served. The whole time there, we were never checked on and on how we're doing
I’m only giving 4 stars because I absolutely LOVE this place, I really do, food is 10/10, the best Belgium waffle I’ve literally ever had, but this is the 2nd time we’ve arrived an hour before their scheduled close time and they’ve turned us away to close early. Maybe there’s social media where they post when they close early and I’m just not aware, but it’s so disheartening to want some good food and have to go somewhere else after showing up well before close. I want to be understanding, but I’m 8 months pregnant and I literally started crying after being turned away for the 2nd time in just a few months and desperately wanting a good waffle. Please update your schedule if this is going to be a common occurrence so we can plan accordingly, because I really do want to keep coming here.
