Bicycle Playground, Huntington NY

We purchased our son's first bike here the other day. Alex was friendly and helpful on the phone, and when we came in to order, he and the staff turned it around very quickly for our son's bday gift. Support small and local businesses like this shop, they deserve it.

I brought my mountain bike in the other day thinking I would have to leave it. Alex stopped what he was doing, started tweaking this and that and addressed all of my issues and didn’t even charge me for his time! It’s nice to know people like him are still in business! He is the “go to guy”!

Six years ago, i posted the following review:

“Great local bike store. The owner, Alex, goes out of his way to make sure his store services a wide range of clients (from families to serious racers), the pricing is very competitive and the TLC you get is pretty tough to beat. He also is someone that does NOT oversell. I feel very spoiled to have such a first rate shop so close to home. ”

I feel the same way today and want to add to the story. Twice, I’ve required an emergency (and significant) bike repair (bike accident or frame crack) within weeks of an Ironman race. Both times, Alex jumped into gear and got things done. This last time, he texted me at 3: 23 am letting me know he just finished the repair and that I could pick up the bike that morning—just days before the race start. Amazing.

Just purchased my first mt bike from bicycle playground, and had a great experience. Originally ordered a bike that they had trouble getting, Alex went above and beyond in customer service and offered me a next level up for the inconvenience. Alex was very knowledgeable and showed me things I needed to know about my bike before leaving the store and even made sure my bike was up to par before I took it home. Would highly recommend bicycle playground to anyone looking for a bike or needing service. Thank you Alex for everything and I will be back for all future needs

Wow what a great shop! Super knowledge and nice people, very quick turn around time to fix my breaks and just overall a very impressive visit. This might become my go to bike shop in LI!

My experience with them was bad, I place an order online last year on Sep. 28 and never received it. I called, emailed, Fb messaged them and not a single reply. Not sure if they have any sort on problem with on line orders but never got my money back or any information related to my order.

An honest bike shop with knowledgeable staff mostly concerned about getting you set up with what you need instead of selling you what they have (although based on their stock it seems they have most things available).

Agree with the one star reviews. Have no idea how this shop received so many 5 stars.

Other than location it’s a neighborhood shop that is disorganized with horrific customer service. Worst bike shop experience I have personally had ever, & that is not an exaggeration.

Limped over to the shop after snapping my rear derailleur cable on a long Sunday ride. The guys were amazing and did me a favor fixing it on the spot to get me back on the road. Amazing. I'll be back!

When another local bike shops couldn’t find my part and had me on a waiting list for month…so…I decided to give BICYCLE PLAYGROUND HUNTINGTON a try…
Alex not only had my part in his warehouse…He and his crew offered not only the same work but replaced an extra part for the same amount the other shop had quoted me for and then he actually had my bike fixed and ready to ride by the end of that very day! Could I ask for more from a bike shop?
With this said I think I finally found my new “go-to” bicycle repair shop Thanks BPH!

Since moving from the Bay Area to LI in 2018, I’ve enjoyed great service and reliable care from the wonderful folks at Bicycle Playground. They’ve maintained my SuperSix Evo Di2, as well as do the research to turn my old mtb into a gravel bike (i asked and they were more than up to the challenge). Friendly and informative—this is a wonderful LBS, and I recommend them most highly. One more thing: they stock some really interesting bikes!

Great bike shop, friendly and knowledgeable staff. Saw the bike in stock online so I went there and bought it right on the spot no fuss.

Not sure how BP got so many great reviews. Dropped off a rear wheel for a rebuild and they said it would be about a week. 2 weeks later they said it would be ready the following Monday. When I finally went down to pick it up Friday they said they were sorry but they still hasn't got to it. I wish they told me right away they weren't interested in the job so I didn't waste my time. I wouldn't recommend buying even a spoke nipple from there.

I recently ordered a Campy wheel set for my Bianchi through Alex at Bicycle Playground. When the wheels came in, I brought my bike in and he got me up and running.

What was especially nice, was that while I was waiting for my new wheels to arrive, Alex let me borrow some wheels to keep me on the road since my old wheels were not useable.

I highly recommend Alex and Bicycle Playground. Great shop and Alex is great to have a chat with.

Owner was rude the minute we knocked on the door.guess he didnt want to sell a bicycle he brought out 2 bikes that were way over priced and not the type we called about before heading over to his store and said "thats what i do " he best change his attitude

I went to tune up my bike here at Bicycle Playground, Bob the mechanic did a wonderful job with the bike, dialed the shifting and brakes, replaced my axle, trued the wheels, etc. Service is wonderful and I look forwards to getting my bikes serviced here.

Purchasing a bike from there was a really great purchase for me I got my money's worth and that specialized alibi they carry is the wonderful bike for me
