Big Slide Brewery & Public House, Lake Placid NY

Stopped by around 2 on a Sunday afternoon. We around a 35 min wait, exactly as quoted. Our food and drinks came promptly. We had a beer flight and enjoyed the assortment, snacked on the nuts which were also good, and ordered the chicken sandwich and falafel. The chicken sandwich was excellent, all of the components of the falafel were tasty, with crispy outsides and creamy centers and I enjoyed the spice, however it was plated unfortunately with the pita under lettuce and tzatziki, and everything covered in sauce so that there was no way to pick it up to eat without making a mess. We'd definitely come back (but wouldn't order the falafel).

My husband and I are up here for our 20 year anniversary with my daughter and her fiancé. We had Ava as our server. Everything about the experience was 100% awesome.

Brewery had a unique upscale type vibe which was cool but the smarmy sign above the merch was off putting

The food was fantastic. We had the pretzel bites, chicken and rice soup, and chicken sandwiches. For dessert we split the pumpkin tiramisu. All of the food was very good. The restaurant is a little small so we had a bit of a wait, but we put our names on the waiting list via Yelp, so we didn't have to wait there. Our server was not the best. The other server was super-attentive. Ours took awhile to get us extra napkins, Drinks, etc. Two parties were sat after us and got attention first. Other than that, definitely worth the try.

We arrived with a large group, so I always take that into account when reviewing. The server was nice, and surprisingly the food came out very quickly considering our group size (14). Everyone was pleased with their food and drinks. Some of the tickets were messed up, but I would definitely give it another go!

The place to eat in LP. We came in twice, both for dinner. Service once was fine. Other time was great. Duck, duck, smoke; Steak sandwich; the boomer and happy hour hero were all amazing. Bolognes was good but not as great as the other etrees.

Loved visiting this brewery in lake placid; the beer variety was great and the food exceeded our expectations. Also loved the outdoor patio space. Would recommend!

We were seated quickly on the patio. The beers were excellent (I had the Hefe and the Hazy). All of our meals in the group looked and tasted fantastic. Excellent meal for some Minnesota folks to enjoy.

Everything about this meal experience was 100% perfect! We had excellent service at the bar and the berry ginger beer cocktail was the best drink I've gotten recently! Highly recommend.everything on the menu is so well thought out with amazing flavor combinations.the poutine is done so well, then entrées were amazing and sooo different from any restaurant we've been to lately! Had the roasted chicken with sushi rice, SUCH a fantastic blend of flavors! The hot sauce and mango salsa complemented each other perfectly.can't say enough about how much we loved this dinner- one of the highlights of our vacation.

Edit: came back as a really nice benchmark of our yearly ADKs trip and was intensely disappointed. I was so charmed last time I even bought big slide merch and our experience this time just dropped off a cliff. Food was all room temp or cold after an hour wait. Our server was nice but didn’t even come back so that we could tell him everything was cold. By the time he came to check on us we couldn’t really say we were dissatisfied because we were starving after a day of hiking and ate the cold food anyways because it was in front of us. Super disappointing for a $150 dinner for 4 people before tip. My mom and my son barely touched their food because of temp/quality issues and our server didn’t even ask if there was an issue when he cleared their full trays from in front of them, they both had a hotdog and a chicken sandwich with one bite taken out of them and the fries eaten. Our server kept saying how busy he was so we didn’t feel right saying anything. Really seems to be fostering an environment where you don’t feel comfortable complaining for bad food and slow service.

Came in here after a long day of hiking whiteface mountain and paddling. First we got to the host stand and she told us the wait would be 20 minutes but it was actually super quick, like 10 minutes. The beer was awesome and the food was as well. Simple menu but everything was made really well and tasty. Our waiter was really nice and friendly and service was great. We'll definitely be back!

I have been to Big Slide many times over the past 6 years, through all times of year and on busy event weekends and quieter weekdays evenings.

The food is always decent to very good. Never excellent. They used to have some really special dishes: a burrata, fresh mozz, tomato, pesto, steak salad for example. But it's off the menu now. The pizzas used to be lousy and are now very good. The beer is good and I enjoy it.

The service varies significantly. My impression is that they could always use three more people working.

I have felt, consistently, that no one is really in charge, in either front of house or by the open kitchen. Best I can tell, the computer managing the orders is in charge. No one is saying, "those pizzas have been in the window for ten minutes, I should bring them out. "

I think Big Slide should screen in their patio. In the summer it is very bright out there and in the fall it is cold. A screened in space, that they could swap over to storm windows, would solve both problems for low cost.

There are plenty of restaurants in Lake Placid that are similar and offer a similar experience. I think The Lake Placid brewery (formerly PJs) is better. However, I don't dislike Big Slide and I will go back again.

Bottom line pizza was decent, other items on the menu not so much.
The Falafel was falafel adjacent, the Maloney and Cheese (the burger) was a poor experience all together.

Staff was nice and accommodating. Prices felt high for the quality of the food.

Love this place! Gluten free and vegan pizza crust and cheese alternative. I wish the pepperoni pizza had a bit more pepperoni than 1-2 per slice, but it was great to have a gluten, egg, and dairy free pizza. It was delicious! Heads up that there are no gf appetizers except for salad, and no gf beer (just ciders). Everything on the menu looks fantastic, especially if you eat gluten. Also, bring something to sit on if your bottom gets cold on metal chairs.

Had an awesome meal and delicious beer outside with our dog. Tornado salad was epic. Nice staff too.

We ate outside because we were traveling with our dog. Inside was a bit loud for us anyway. Waitress was outstanding and attentive. Food was absolutely delicious. Chicken breast served grilled for the dog along his own bowl of water!

Friendly restaurant-bar with a selection of varied beers! We all enjoyed the food and the service was good. The hostess was very stupid.

Staff and atmosphere was great. I ordered a chicken sandwich and it was not very good. Super dry and the chicken piece was literally half the size of the bread. My husband got a cheese pizza and said it was decent. The vegan carrot cake was to die for though overall, cute place but we spent a lot for sub par quality food.
