Bike Rental Central Park reviews
21 Very clearly to flee
No service, bikes that are more than outdated, not adapted to your size and poorly adjusted.
You would be much better off renting the city's citybikes.
No consideration of the inconvenience by the teams on site.
4 blocks away from Central Park. Easy walk. Got 2 hours rental. Best way exploring Central Park. Happy children. Staffs are friendly and helpful. Will come back to them next time for sure.
Escooter was amazing way to ride around such a big city & fun + location is very close to the park.will be returning next time in town!
Disappointing. Broken chain, bike did not seem to be in good/safe condition. Dangerous. Left me in the middle of Central Park to walk the bike back. Not helpful.
No real service. Poorly adjusted bike. My husband's bike was making noise and braking. He had to pedal harder. The bikes are veiled. My husband had to DIY them. For the price for 1 day we expect a better bike and real service on bike adjustment. This is due to the chain making as much money as possible. When we came back to return the bike, we were half yelled at to hurry up and get it back to the curb because they needed 2. We said there was a problem but it didn't even fit.watching and passing the same bikes on to others. Without disinfecting the saddle elsewhere. In short, to escape.
Guided bike tour through Central Park. Absolutely recommended, especially if you don't have too much time in New York. Central Park is a must, this way you can find a lot of beautiful places in a short time. Our guide was Martin, he did it very considerately and well. Lots of little anecdotes to the right and left of the sights…
During our trip to New York we encountered the most unfriendly and lazy staff of the entire trip at this bike rental. The bike's gears weren't very good, but otherwise the bike was okay. The website states that a lock is free, but when I asked for it I had to pay for it at the counter. Finally, it is scandalous that you have to leave an ID or credit card as collateral for the bicycle. They keep these behind the counter in an unlocked cupboard.
Rented some bikes for two hour via internet price. Easy to book and pay for. There is no reservation system so you just hope your bike is available.
Pick up was relatively easy.
The staff are unhelpful and rude. The girl who served me flirted with the bike mechanic whilst constantly looking at her phone. We were treated with so much disrespect.
The bikes are trashed and old but okay.
Easy to get to Central Park from the store and an easy drop off.
No helmets or locks are offered but we were given them on request.
Drop off was easy.
Would I return… maybe
Diomerys and anj were Incredible with their service and care…. Made an amazing experience even better
Truly the only place to rent from in central park…loved it!
My family reserved bikes from this location (Bike Rental Central Park 1391 6th Avenue) while on vacation on August 4th for a pick up date of August 5th. Their site claims reservations are guaranteed. We reserved 1 regular men’s bike, 1 scooter, and 1 e-bike. When we arrived around 11: 00am, we were told that they did not have any e-bikes charged despite the website claiming reservations were guaranteed. Due to a health condition one family member needed an e-bike and at that point had to cancel the reservation for the e-bike. We were told that we would be refunded the e-bike in full. So my family left the store with 1 scooter, and 1 men’s bike and nothing for myself. That left me walking the park perimeter looking for an e-bike rental from CITIBIKE and having to meet up with my family after I found one (do yourself a favor and use citibike, it’s cheaper, quicker, and there are tons of stations right outside the perimeter of the entire park)
We returned a few hours later to return the rentals. At that time the supervisor took the rental receipt from me and returned with my drivers license and a different receipt from the one I was given when we took the men’s bike and scooter. I asked her when I would have my refund and if I would also be refunded the insurance for the e-bike as well. She said yes, you’ll get whatever “wasn’t used, so the men’s bike and insurance. ” At that time I said, “no, it was the e-bike that we did not get. ” At that time she had a look that told me she just wanted to get us out of the store and said again “yeah yeah yeah, you’ll get everything refunded that you didn’t use. ” My husband then verified “the insurance too correct? ” “Yes everything that you didn’t use” she claimed.
Unfortunately for me, the new receipt she handed back was not what we actually rented nor was it the receipt we left the store with stating 1 men’s bike and 1 scooter. For some reason they printed a new receipt saying we rented an e-bike and a scooter. Classic bait and switch. Nice quality control. We arrive at our return rental window time and return a men’s bike and a scooter and they give me a receipt saying I returned and e-bike and a scooter when 2 hours earlier they had no e-bikes charged. So how would I return something they never had available?
I contacted the company when we returned and explained what had happened. A representative named Emma responded to my email requesting more information which I provided. My refund was for the men’s bike and not the e-bike and did not include the insurance refund either.
I then sent another email to Emma on Aug 18th re-explaining what had happened and requested the full refund including insurance and to please speak with the supervisor and front desk employee that worked with us that day. I have yet to receive a response.
Rental, service fees, tax and insurance came to $61.95 for the e-bike. My refund was for $21 We also had reserved a basket and helmets. We were never given the helmets- nobody leaving that store had helmets despite the website claiming they had them and my husband had to go back for the basket as they didn’t give us that either. Stay away from this company. Go to trip advisor, YELP, and BBB and read similar stories as well as bike safety concerns.
Best value for money nearby central park. The bikes are in working condition, you're handed a map, a locker and helmets when requested!
Beware: Think Twice Before Booking Online
I would strongly advise against making online reservations with Bike Rental Central Park. Here's why:
Location: Despite the name, the shop is several city blocks away from Central Park. This means you'll have to navigate busy streets before you even get to enjoy your ride in the park.
No Electric Bikes: My wife and I booked electric bikes 30 minutes before arriving, only to be told they had none available. They offered electric scooters instead, which wasn't suitable for us.
ID as Collateral: They require you to leave your driver's license as collateral, which can be inconvenient if you plan to make any purchases requiring ID during your rental period.
Refund Policy: Their website clearly states "No Refunds, " which made me nervous when they couldn't provide the bikes we reserved. The process for attempting to get a refund was unprofessional; I was asked to write my details on a scrap piece of paper with no confirmation or receipt given.
Customer Service: When I tried to document my presence in the store (as they gave me no confirmation of my refund request), the employee became furious and refused to assist me further. Even the manager, Mr. Lopez, offered no solutions. He told me he would put his initials on the scrap piece of paper.
As of writing this review, I have not received a refund. I will update this review if the situation changes. My recommendation? Either rent directly from vendors in Central Park or visit this location in person to confirm availability before parting with your money.
***Update*** I replied to the response to this review email address. They confirmed they had no electric bikes for rent despite my reservation and would give me a refund. 9/27 the refund was complete.
The process is fast to get the bike! We had a great ride in central park! Diomerys is super helpful to answer questions.would definitely come back again!
Don’t recommend to rent a bike at this place. Their bikes are in poor shape and bad quality… save your money and time. We are still waiting to receive our refund. There are better bike rentals around the corner (e.g, unlimited biking)
My daughter and I rented electric scooters in August 2023. Before taking it out to Central Park I asked the staff if they had an iPhone or smart phone holder for the handlebars. They said they do not. Luckily we were both wearing helmets. While my daughter was trying to navigate us back to the rental store in order to return the electric scooters she had to hold her iPhone and steer at the same time. She fell off and hurt herself, but Thank God she didn't break anything. I really think the company should consider investing in them since many tourists have to rely on GPS and the only way to do that is to have their smart phones mounted on the handlebars.
Excellent attention! The best bicycles and very comfortable. I 100 percent recommend renting bikes here. Claudia provided us with quality care.
The bikes are in poor condition. They don't look anything like the photos (no bell, gears don't work, etc.). The staff is uncharacteristically unfriendly. This bike rental is not recommended at all.
Regardless, I can't recommend the bike tour in Central Park either. There are better ways to have a nice time in NY. Very crowded, lots of traffic lights, only asphalted, wide streets in the park.
My wife and I arranged a 2 hour tour and were fortunate to meet our guide Michael. Because he had no one else for this 10: 00 timeframe, we ended up with a ‘private tour! ’
Michael was awesome and felt like we became friends. He shared he was from Amsterdam and we are from South Dakota, we learned about each other and had a great time. I’m sure he spent more than the allotted 2 hours with us.
Bikes worked perfectly so we had a great time. Highly recommend the 2 hour tour, and request Michael if I were you!
Very useful to take bikes to get around Central Park! Take them! The only flaw is that the costs are high because they know that people want to go around the park… About 65 dollars for 2 hours for 2 people…. The bikes were well maintained but dirty. However, all in all, a positive experience!
Went there with the family! They were very respectful and great customer service. Bikes were in great shape 10 out of 10 recommend! Will be renting from them again
