Billy Joe's Ribworks, Newburgh NY

Food was delicious, our waiter was kind and easy to talk to. Everyone was so helpful and kind. The high tide was coming in causing a flood into the restaurant and parking lot. The manager was leading my mother and I through the kitchen thinking we could exit the restaurant without getting wet but unfortunately the majority of the parking lot flooded a bit.

One of the cooks decided to walk to his car and drive through the water to pick us up and bring us to our car so we didn't get wet. Such a gentlemen!

Our favorite BBQ spot! Whenever my husband and I are in the area, we have dinner at Billy Joe’s. Everything is delicious and the service is excellent. We love Jay!

Great view of the river and excellent food. Brueben sandwich can feed two! Anthony was very attentive and made our new year’s eve lunch with with friends fun. The entire staff was very friendly and the atmosphere is like other place.

So this place is a really nice spot and in the summer it’s top tier and the view is worth a million dollars to sit and have drinks.

Of course it’s cold now so no more of that, however its a good spot for some drinks and the crowd is cool.

I had a baked potato and it was ok, it was loaded with broccoli. The broccoli was hard and semi warm. Bottom line the food needed more love.

They need to upgrade the vegan options and maybe explore more seasoning on the food and it’s not about salt it’s about seasoning and loving on the food you serve people.
I go out a-lot and for years and I know good food.

But I will admit that its a very good spot for drinks, in the OC and I will continue patronize and pray the food gets better and I’ll update this review.

This spot is all about the scenery. It's got great water views, with lots of outdoor seating. Just be aware that when it comes to food, the portions are big, but the flavor and quality? Often mediocre. This is especially true of their BBQ items. Most of the proteins turn out blah thanks in part to a forgettable BBQ sauce. And if you're hoping for ribs done right given their name.ironically, this ain't the place. (Rib meat should be falling off the bone, not tough and chewy. Someone please tell the chef). Fact is they don't have to try very hard. The location keeps them packed regardless. I simply don't understand the rave reviews on this site. For atmosphere, sure. Anyone giving the food here 5 stars has questionable standards, or got mesmerized by all the prime riverside real estate. I enjoy getting some drinks here, taking in their view, then going elsewhere to eat.

Great BBQ regardless of the season. It’s an hour plus round trip for me, but the food is definitely worth it. I recommend the beef ribs personally if you can get a hold of them.

First time for my wife, food atmosphere & fast friendly service. Line dancing on Tuesday night ️

Update: the staff that was horrible have all been replaced (hopefully in jail) and the current crew running the place are great.

The food is so much better even if a little bit pricey the portions are large.

The service was HORRIBLE. I went there once when it first opened for dinner. It was about 5: 30 PM

I got Id'd at the door before I could even sit down and order my food which i found very VERY tacky.

I ordered a medium rare prime rib, it was well done and dry, did NOT taste good at all

Then I went out back for a smoke, Some sterioded out security guard grabbed my shoulder (and bruised it) yanked me back and told me "you cant smoke here" meanwhile I am outside.he proceeds to try and force me over to a little 6x6 pen to smoke, I said some harsh things to the security guard and walked out.worst dining experience of my life.

Wings were delicious, ribs n chicken were dry & BBQ sauce was uninspiring.
Great ambience though & the beer was cold. Need to do better on the actual BBQ.

The place is fantastic next to the water. The atmosphere is great. The waiter are very friendly.

Another of Newburgh's waterfront experiences. Billy Joe's Ribworks. Sit inside (which I've never done) or at the outdoor bar or the massive open-air terrace on the water; you'll enjoy the experience of the Newburgh waterfront. It's also a dock & dine. Dock your boat, tip & enjoy.

Great place to meet up with family, friends or a date for good food and dancing. I love eating out on the deck by the water. Their food is delicious and served fresh and hot.

Very unique very enjoyable environment right on the water great views of the River boat dock. You can smell the food before you get there which is very pleasant and creates a very healthy appetite very clean. It is a very busy establishment and though there are a lot of people there it doesn't leave you feeling like you're crowded more like an exclusive party that you were invited to. Not only is the food and staff good but the clientele was also amazing.

Food wasn’t too great. It looked like it was thrown together, but the atmosphere was nice. Ended up getting sick to my stomach later on that night after I had the brisket, I’d probably go back for drinks, but not for food.

This place was awesome. Great views. Plenty of seating. Seated 13 of us on a whim. Food was fabulous. Service was great! Prices were great. Everyone tried something different. I had steak, shrimp, mashed potatoes and broccoli with cheese. My husband had the chicken and steak with baked beans.

also if your a party of 6, get the Party app it includes a little bit of everything. It's probably the biggest sharing app I ever seen. It has something for everybody. The river views are stunning and the music is a vibe. I give it a 90/100
