Black Creek Park reviews
13A gorgeous park. Hike length no matter the combination of trails seems to be 1.5 hours every time without snow slowing me down.
Great place to launch kayaks and a nice place to paddle. The jets are a little unnerving when they're landing.
Fifteen hundred acres of beauty. Walking, hiking, lodges, pavilions, kids play areas, and peace.
Took us a little while to find where the trailhead started from the parking area. Of course, we headed out in the wrong direction. Insufficient signage. Trail sign, when we did find it, was small and not visible from the parking lot. A sign at the parking area would have gotten us there quicker. Also, recently visited the Caledonia wildlife preserve and was impressed with the number of benches along the short trail. We encountered none on our short walk along this trail.
A nice place to go for sledding, grad parties (if a cabin is rented), playground for the little ones, x-country skiing it just walking. Lots of open space as well. There are grills and picnic tables overlooking the pond, for doing your own thing. And a bathroom near the playground on the west side of the park.
Great place for a nice walk/run on the trails.fun place to bring the family.playground, picnic areas, good parking, pet friendly, & clean restrooms. A nice hill for sledding in the winter. Also, it looks like they added a few pickle ball courts. Highly recommend visiting!
This is my favorite place to go. It's beautiful and peaceful. Only one negative thing about it is that I see more and more people are parking there to do their drugs. I hope it doesn't get worse.
I don't want to say too much about Black Creek Park because it is, and I use no art, a place that is at once breathtakingly beautiful yet none-too-frequented. Within it's imaginary boundaries an ecosystem is preserved - one that, although contrasting starkly with what those wonder capacity-commensurate folks might've witnessed when first arriving in what is now western Monroe county, still reminds us of what lies underneath the concrete and asphalt of modern Gates, NY. The open marshland stretching for acres out before the eye, the gently jutting peninsulas that provide a vista for the view, thickets dense and impenetrable all contribute, in their own way, to shaping the landscape that many call home. It was once farmland, just as many of our ancestors were farmers, but now a large part of us are engaged in other pursuits, and the fields allowed to enter into maturity once again.
My one criticism - the trail map needs improvement (although this is true for all Monroe County Parks). I find topographic information essential in any map.
Went there yesterday for hiking and Geocaching, although I got a good amount of hiking done, most of it was through unavoidable mud and deep puddles. Didn't get back to my car until 7pm when it was dark and I heard howling all over. Got mud all over the floor of my vehicle, there should be some boot brushing stations set up there around the parking areas if the park is this muddy.
Nicely maintained large park that's accessible as much as possible. Wide open & wooded areas with pond near playground, black creek access, big sledding hill. Open year round & very nice newer lodge for rental.
Our first time we went on a trail. We discovered some nice sledding hils, areas for cooking out, a huge pond, bathrooms are available and clean. We will be going back during the winter, spring and summer.
This PC213 Station is DOA... Just look carefully for the 'green Standby Light' before pulling-up to it. Several 'reports' have been made. Feel free to add another.
1st time visit! Went to see a cross country meet. Grassy areas were nicely mowed, and there was no garbage strewn about. Playground was big for our 6 year old.
