Black Star Bakery & Cafe reviews
14Delicious vegan croissants! I ordered 2, and just saw now that I got 3. Thank you so much!
Great food, excellent service and a good value. I highly recommend Black Star for breakfast, lunch or something in between.
Black Star is great for getting a bite to eat and catching up with friends or reading/ relaxing but there’s no Wi-Fi so maybe not the best place to work. There is a nice outdoor area if you want to soak up the sun. I tried the zatar croissant and it was really good and flaky. I got some pastries to go for my friends and they loved the cherry and cheese danish, the mushroom bureka, and chocolate and Halacha pastry. Everything I’ve had so far has been delicious!
Nice place, but the electronic music is really loud and repetitive so it's not super relaxing like I was hoping
This is my go to cafe. The menu is a failsafe. There’s usually a small line, and the tables do fill up quick. But never too bad to deter me. Favorites are the salmon croissant sandwich, chocolate bite brownie, and of course an almond latte.
Super cute shop! There’s indoor seating, as well as in front of the shop and in the super cute back patio (a wonderful surprise!).
Service is friendly with genuine smiles and conversation from everyone behind the counter.
I had a toasted almond croissant delicious, soft, fresh, with an unexpected sweet almond light cream filling. My chai latte with almond milk was delicious and perfect.
Prices are reasonable, considering the area.
The music is a vibe, calm, relaxing. Great for studying, remote work, or a coffee date.
They offer a punch card rewards program great way to build and maintain clientele.
Nice vibe, great coffee, minus one star for being a bit hostile to laptop use. (no wifi, house rules are you can only sit by the window with a laptop? !)
Love coming to this place. Coffee is best! Service is courteous, the staff are all pleasant, always a smile on their faces. Love the sandwiches and pastries.
Very nice place - baked goods and sandwiches are very tasty and fresh, and service is quick and friendly, the place is clean and nicely designed - I really like their white marble tile-top tables. They also have a small garden/outdoor space with seating in teh back which is a nice touch.and - their pistachio muffin is to die for! (if you're into pistachios:). I wish this place was here when I lived on East 85th and York Ave a few years back!
I was so excited to try this place. I read about the little play house in the back which my toddler loved. The food was tasty. I was however VERY disenchanted when our entire order was packaged up and we were given sad looking wooden cutlery (which broke immediately) for our EAT IN order. When I asked for a real knife I was told they didn’t have any. SOOOO WASTEFUL. Give me a real plate and silverware you can wash. Why all the waste? ! We all know better and should be doing better.
Black Star is a fabulous bakery. Everything we tried was fresh and tasty. The coffee was good, the chocolate croissant was amazing, as were other pastries we tried.
Highly recommend! One of the best chai lattes i’ve had, on the sweeter side but so good.the lox bagel was also delicious and had a healthy serving of lox - for about $15 bucks it’s on the cheaper end over here.didn’t get a pastry but they looked amazing! Quick service even when busy.no wi-fi if you’re planning to work.
Delicious fresh pastries and great coffee in a friendly comfortable environment! Chocolate croissant is immaculate.
I am going to use the words THE BEST. I am careful with them, but here I have no other options.
