Blue Bottle Coffee, New York NY

The gave cold solid chocolate croissant and coffee tasted like the pot was old. Aesthetic is cold and not pleasing at all. Overall waste of money.

This is a nice coffee shop! Blue Bottle Coffee offers a nice selection on caffeinated drinks and beverages - definitely try their Hot Chocolate! The staff is friendly and the service is quick. They have a good amount of indoor seating but definitely consider getting your order to go. I wish I came here more often!

I ordered a matcha latte, which I watched them make by squeezing a pre-made matcha slurry out of a to-go cup and adding milk to it. It was disappointing considering that most places have the decency to make matcha the right way by whisking the powder as people order them. Aside from being unpleasant to look at, it also makes the final product inconsistent as the pre-made mix will settle and cool. Pretty bush league stuff from a chain I used to respect.

I stopped by on my way to Le Bank Cookie, and the store atmosphere was good, not to mention the coffee taste, and the staff were all so kind and sweet.

I'm not an expert in coffee by any means but I was expecting better espresso by Blue Bottle.
We've tried their Heyes Valley and Single Origin, which both ended up being total disappointments, particularly the overly bitter, excessively acidic taste of Heyes Valley was beyond bearable.
They could be okay coffee for milk based types but Blue Bottle wouldn't be my choice for my next shot of espresso, or any types of coffee for that matter.

When I was going there, I ordered a flat white with additional oatmilk also bought their beans. And until now I'm addicted. However, the place is far away from my country: (

I tried lattes because they said they were delicious, but it was okay.
I was tired at the Natural History Museum, but I had a cool drink.

I don't understand how this place gets away with charging these prices for average coffee - at least $2-$3 more expensive than similar stores just for an "aesthetic" of minimalism and high quality which is anything but.

I have very mixed feelings about this cafe. First visit was good and I've had some very good coffees here. But I've also had some pretty average ones. Watching more closely on my last visit I could see that there are some issues with the coffee making process. The portafilter was not cleaned thoroughly between shots leaving quite a bit of old coffee in the new shot - old coffee in the portafilter is a common cause of bitter tasting coffee. There is also no weighing the coffee grounds into the portafilter either like you get at the best cafes - this leads to over or under extraction - bitter or sour tasting shot.
The milk texturing was good though which is probably the hardest part.
The other turn off was the baristas constantly being on their phones. It's not a good look, particularly during a busy time. Gives the impression they are not fully paying attention to what they are doing and are not happy / bored working there.
Front desk / cashiers are always friendly.
I feel like this *could* be a great cafe with some extra barista training, but for now it's a bit hit or miss. If I have the time, I'm walking the extra 7 blocks to go to Bluestone Lane in future.

Went out of my way to grab a coffee on an early morning as they claimed to be the only place open at 6: 30am. I arrived at 6: 31 to find a store in total blackness and one person wondering around in the shadows. I did not have time to sit around and wonder when they would actually open. Thanks for not being open when your door claims and your website said you would be.

I would usually give any Blue Bottle Coffee five stars, but not today.

The pourover Bella Donavan coffee at around 5: 30 PM tasted flat and bitter. After I asked why the pourover tasted terrible, it turned out that the grinder had been left at too fine a setting. Pourover is for coarsely ground beans. The very friendly barista gave me a triple espresso in exchange, but that too, tasted flat and wrong. Perhaps by that late hour, the sitting hot water has lost too much oxygen.

This beautiful coffee requires expert procedures, and I know they can turn this around.

Coffee is good, but the personnel knows nothing about hospitality, they act like they are alone: talk very loud, scream on each other, swear. The place is dirty. Impossible to stay inside.

Hands down THE best sweet iced latte I’ve ever had. Very sleek look, good seating for reading or people watching. I very much enjoyed the soothing sounds of Bad Bunny in the background and good nature of the baristas. Whenever I visit NYC I will be back!

If you are a weird coffee person like me, you'll find it very difficult to find good pour over coffee in NYC. Try the single origin coffee

One of my favorite coffees in the city. If you are a coffee lover like me definitely need to try it. I love the environment in each location

When a high volume cafe makes a single origin espresso shot - rarely ordered in my observation - that clearly presents the flavor notes listed on the beans for sale, without being over- or under-extracted.that's the place that earns $5 for the drink. Blue Bottle is big now, but it's still great at coffee.

Great coffee spot (anytime of day) for breakfast! Walked in and was greeted by a friendly barista which get warm and genuine on the cold winter morning. The store was clean and had a nice atmosphere. After deciphering the menu and talking about what coffee could be a pour over and options I decided on a pour over. It was super delicious and this place knew their beans and technique! It was super tasty too. They really know coffee definitely a nice start to your day and right by the subway! Come on in and try a pour over today! You won’t regret it! They also have mobile ordering to place orders ahead!

I am obsessed with Blue Bottle for their mochas and vibe, so I try to go to all of them. This one was great. I enjoyed the different seating options and the mocha was perfection. Sometimes they are a weaker but this one was the ultimate: perfect balance of chocolate and coffee.
