Blue Ribbon Sushi Bar & Grill - Financial District reviews
12 I really enjoyed my dining experience at Blue Ribbon and would recommend you trying this place.
Their interior is spacious, lowly dim, and well lit at the sushi chef kitchen. It’s a romantic, fun and busy restaurant with yummy sushi and food.
We decided to try their:
Miso Soup (9.5/10, it’s miso soup but DIY)
Yaki sea scallop (9/10, wish it came with 4 pieces evenly)
Cauliflower tempura (9/10, would like to see better sauce options)
Lobster roll (8.5/10)
Salmon avocado sushi (10/10)
Lychee Martini (9/10, lady next to us enjoyed it and highly recommended us to try it)
Chocolate Bruno with Green Tea ice cream (9/10 didn’t enjoy the water part of the chocolate Bruno)
I would have given 5 stars, however one of the waiters was being weird when he was serving us. He randomly took away our specials and dessert menu without asking us if we were done with it. We didn’t get the chance to look at it yet. It would’ve been respectful to just ask us. The younger waiter serving us provided excellent customer service, and because of his customer service, it made the dining experience even more enjoyable. He seemed to be happy to be there which was refreshing and nice.
Overall: I definitely recommend you to come here and enjoy the food. Great for date night or friend outing!
Wow where does one begin?
Nice place, nice staff and amazing food preparation.
Honestly we were just birthday boy bar hopping and bumped into this Gem. Just do it for yourself!
Phenomenal sushi, great atmosphere, and fast service. Be sure to try the lobster roll. It's the best thing on the sushi menu.
Wow! This is a very tasty place, I will definitely come back again! The scallops and sushi was delicious! Thanks, everything was great! This place is worth your attention and money
The sushi and sashimi were some of the best prepared I’ve ever had. The gentleman serving us at the end of last night was great, although we didn’t catch his name, he was the last server in the dining room at 10pm.
Popped in cause Manhatta was full and really glad we did. The atmosphere was great; fantastic service, low lights and dim music. Sushi was delicious and the cocktails were great too. If you like Japanese whiskey, try the Getsu which has Suntory Toki in it. The green tea creme brulee to finish was perfection.
This is a rating strictly for the food, as the service was doing the best they could.
Ordered the live scallop. Upon tasting it, I suspected it was not live at all so I asked the waiter, who then confirmed that it was alive in the morning. Sorry but there is a world of difference in the taste between a scallop alive 5min ago vs 10 hours ago. False advertising. This was sent back.
Then came the wakame salad which was coated in a sugar bath. This was also sent back.
Finally the sushi / sashimi combo arrives. The types of fish are exactly the same on the sushi and sashimi. A bit pointless and boring but edible at least. The quality was about 25% better than in a supermarket, which unfortunately does not justify the price.
A fusion Japanese restaurant for the western palate at best. For people who know real Japanese cuisine, do stay away.
I ordered takeout from this Blue Ribbon Sushi location for the first time- our family knows and loves Blue Ribbon Sushi, their quality and taste is second to none. But I just want to shout out their customer service, there was a slight error in our takeout order but Paul, one of the staff took care of it right away and we could not be more thankful. Highly recommend going to this Blue Ribbon Sushi location!
Some fish are very fresh. I enjoyed Sanma especially. My disappointment was quality of shari here. The rice was slight colder side, vinegar is only OK to my taste, and rice texture was hard. So my food rating was 3.5. Service was excellent on the other hand. I give overall rating of 4.
Immaculate sushi and wine with a great ambience too. However, expect to pay ~$60 a person (for a party of 2) for 3 rolls and 1 drink each.
Little pricey but we'll worth it for the sushi. Definitely has the best ambiance of all their locations.
