Boldt Castle & Boldt Yacht House reviews
14I have visited the castle many times. Each time it has become more and more beautiful. George Boldt's vision is slowly coming back to life. The grandeur and history of this magnificent place is not to be missed.
This place never fails to satisfy. The beautiful grounds work and the Beautiful improvements that they make inside the castle make this a destination worth visiting every year. You can also rent out parts of the property for weddings and special events. The castle itself is beautiful and continues to improve every year
The self guided tour was a great experience. We had been to Boldt Castle in 2006, when we got engaged. We came back because we wanted to see the changes/updates. It is a beautiful island and castle.
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful! Very well taken care of and the grounds were spectacular! A definitely must see if you are in the area.
The main attraction in the 1000 islands (besides the islands). Definitely worth a visit! And walk around on the island.
We had a fabulous time on the Clayton Island Tours. Our tour guide Daniel was amazing! He shared past & current information on the islands & their owners. He had a great sense of humor & made it enjoyable. He shared lots of information on the Boldt Castle which was our main destination. We loved local information too! Our Captain as well as the young lady that checked us in was great also. We stayed in Alex Bay so it was a short drive to catch the tour. Highly recommend!
A visit to Boldt Castle has become a traditional yearly trip for me and my grandchildren. We prefer to drive across the border to Alexandria Bay and catch the ferry over to the castle from there. It is less costly if you purchase tickets at the dock and just a short boat trip to the castle. I like that we can spend as much time as we like touring the castle and each year the restoration team aims to complete restoration and furnishing of one additional room, so there is always something new to see. The grounds are beautiful for walking around and the lineups to depart the island move quickly because the ferry boats dock and leave regularly. Highly recommended!
Just amazing.you can feel the history. Sad story but awesome to be a part of this beautiful sight. Well keep grounds.so many beautiful flowers. Would be a beautiful place for a wedding!
Absolutely beautiful! Lots of interesting history and how it ties into the Thousand Islands. Highly recommend you visit in conjunction with the boat tour.
The grounds are beautiful, and Hart Island’ immense castle stands as a fitting tribute to Mr. Boldt’s wife, who sadly passed away before she ever got to enjoy the castle he was building to show her his love for her. Heartbroken, he never lived there either, but now the thousands of tourists each year who visit get a small glimpse into how deeply he must have loved her. The two hour international tour from Uncle Sam is nicely narrated, and it’s journey ends - not at the docks where you first get on like most cruises do - but rather at the dock to Hart Island so you can explore the grounds and the castle at your leisure. When you finish exploring, you can take a shuttle boat back to reality and downtown Alex Bay. When you get there, be sure to go into some of the kitschy gift shops and head over to the Homestead restaurant - it features a beautiful outdoor garden area and some fresh seafood.
The have this living museum in NY is suck a treasure. While the story is tragic, the preservation efforts are phenomenal. The grounds are clean, well cared for and the staff is friendly and attentive. It's a great day trip activity (one 1.5 hours from SYR).
ABSOLUTELY GO. Our favorite stop of our entire trip. Relatively cheap, completely open to walking all over the grounds and castle, not too busy. The Uncle Sam Boat Tour makes everything very easy. You won’t regret this experience
Wonderful place and it is amazing to see how it was restored from 73 years of not being used. So much of hard work and dedication. Beautiful!
