I am a regular shopper at this wonderful, neighborhood bookstore and have been for years. Steve, the owner, is very helpful and a joy to speak with. I appreciate so much that we have this store as a community resource. There is a possibility the store will be moving from its current location so get over to 1550 Jefferson Rd before it's too late!

It is certainly super packed with all different kinds of books. It is fairly well organized, but there are not a lot of new authors. Most of the books are older. It is a store with limited hours so check before you drive over. The fiction section is pretty extensive, and for a used bookstore the whole store is pretty large overall. Most of the books are in a well used condition, but definitely still readable.

I have found several books that no one else would have. It's always a pleasure to just browse the shelves and discover many treasures

For a used bookstore, I was surprised to see so many books that looked new! The owner is fantastic and knows right where everything is.

Such a gem! Have been here a few times now and the owner is super helpful if you are looking for specific titles. I got 4/5 of the books on my to read list all under $5. They were all newer titles too. All the books may look overwhelming, but it is all actually very organized. Definitely recommend coming here.

Bookends is a rare gem of a bookstore. A great place to explore and to find books you didn't know you wanted to read.until you saw them!

Visited in search for older publication dates, and old authors. Titles are not in order when you find the author one is seeking, but this is likely due to people messing things up. Some aisles can be tough to navigate, especially if older, or poor vision. Owner does try and address it. Big variety of authors.

Always a good place to go if you have time to search for books you want.
Chances are high you will end up getting a book and the owner is nice always asking what authors you like and he will keep a lookout on getting that book/author.
It is cramped and lots of book on the floor to search through.
4* for the disorganization and books at the other used store I reviewed were a little cheaper than here.

Bookends is an absolute a gem — truly a hidden treasure. Steve is incredibly kind and helpful. If ever you are unable to locate a novel, just ask and he’ll be able to find it within a matter of seconds. The bookstore has a bit of an antiquated feel. Though I think anyone in search of a used bookstore is looking to romanticize that sort of aesthetic… I certainly was. I tend to venture to Bookends when I have hours to appreciate the mighty selection of books as it is incredibly tranquil navigating through each aisle. For me, Bookends offers a unique opportunity to reconnect with the stillness inside, which is the source of our deepest wisdom. I adore Bookends and I hope I am able to enjoy it for years to come.

We have so many great used bookstores in Rochester, the quality here is noticeably a notch above the rest, perhaps because of all the colleges in the area, yet prices remain as that of typical used bookstores (Avg. 5 dollars/book)

This place is fantastic! Great prices, large array of books organized by genre and alphabetized, and a truly great selection. The owner is very kind and you can tell he is passionate about his business. You’ll get the same stuff you got at Barnes and noble way cheaper here and support a small business while you’re at it.

Horrible customer service, books misplaced, just a bad business model. There are better choices in Rochester.

Been going here on and off for years I love the philosophy and poetry sections here. There are often books by classic and contemporary authors of the subject. The service is always good, and I always leave happy.

Amazing little bookstore! A great selection of used books. I was able to find a lot of hidden gems in their extensive poetry section. A bit chaotic to sort through given the quantity of books, but still spectacular.

I wish I came here more often! This is a great place for cheap books. We need more people like the owner, who loves books and is kind to people. He has many suggestions and good finds.the place can be confusing by looking at its selections to choose from, but I assure you the gentleman that works here will help find what you need. Please be kind to him!

Great book store.

Definitely give it a check before you head to Barnes and Nobles or somewhere online you may surprised what you can find

I'm sad it took me so long to finally go inside. I pushed my normal irrational person anxiety and I can't wait to go back. The owner is a breath of fresh air in the person category. Nabbed a beautiful copy of an illustrated "The Hobbit". So many more I can't wait to find!

I recently visited two other used bookstores in Rochester and Bookends is by far the best of the three. Loads of classics, ancient through modern, and all other genres. I'm going back for more today.

This bookstore is wonderful, a Rochester hidden treasure. The owner replies to messages as soon as he can get to them and gives great attention to his customer’s requests. The floor and aisles are a little messy, but the quantity and quality bookends offer to customers offsets this. If you are bothered by the aisles, simply ask the owner where something is to avoid feeling overwhelmed. He just about knows every inch of his store and every book (simply amazing). He takes his concerns very seriously, and works very hard to keep up his shop (which mind you is an extremely hard task for one person).

Really impressive fantasy and sci-fi collection! Lots of classics and a few harder to find authors!
