Bread & Brine reviews
18Excellent food, unique, and at a decent price. I’ve been here more time than any other restaurant in the neighborhood - maybe combined.
Bread & Brine has been in my heavy rotation of local fav restaurants for a long while but tonight we had an experience which has taken them out of rotation. I ordered the fish & chips basket (my usual order) and it looked perfectly cooked & crispy on the outside. My first bite revealed that the fish was rubbery and sinewy. I looked further into the piece of fried fish and discovered that it was completely raw in the middle. I tried to get the attention of our server but she was in a deep chitchat session at the bar with the bartender and another staff member. I took my fish basket to her and advised her that my fried fish was raw inside. She did ask if I wanted a replacement (I declined, I had lost my appetite after biting into squishy fish). If it had ended there, that would have been fine but unfortunately, our server was gossiping about it with a table of 3 guests that were seated a few tables away. She never checked on our table until much later and then gave us two cookies “on the house” (we were a table of four so two cookies seemed weird) - and then she forgot to bring us our check. It was a slow Monday night - maybe 5 or 6 other small tables of guests - so it was annoying to have to wait around and flag her down for the check after our terrible dining experience. I’ve been loyal to this local spot, it’s a shame that it had to end this way.
Great food especially the lobster roll. Great wine and cocktail selection. Lively atmosphere
Terrible overall. The food was gross, cucumber salad was soggy, shrimp overcooked, Mac & cheese absolutely flavorless. Rude waitress, screaming kids, long waits in a half empty restaurant. Such a waste of money.
We went back this time with friends and it was glorious! The food held up, the roast pork sandwich, the Bronzino -excellent, the fish and chips-tasty, lightly battered and scrumptious! The chicken sandwich was crispy and mouth-watering. The prices and service were good and the playlist was quite a walk down memory lane. We had a blast! We will be back for sure-great place for good eats!
If I did not have a previous great experience, this place would be over. The food last time was superb! I have not eaten today's order yet. Heading home to get to it, but I gotta tell you, the weird looking woman, with the tattoos and piercings, at the hospitality desk, in the front, was rude, obnoxious and her manners matched her ugly looking face. The Owners and Managers of Bread & Brine should get rid of her, she clearly does NOT, know anything about customer service, repeat customers or word of mouth advertising. All of the other servers, or wait staff were pleasant, she was downright rancid! Drop her now, she will chase people away. If tonight's food did not hold up, we're done! Well it turned out that the food held up. It was scrumptious, flavorful and very filling!
Great seafood restaurant with choices of other options. Unpretentious service, upscale casual dining. Fluke dish was really good. Lobster roll was delicious.
Amazing clam chowder! Definitely come for that and their mussels. Lobster roll mp currently at 29. See pic for happy hour prices
Update 9/17/23: The lobster roll wasn't too good today. It was sparse and overcooked. Disappointed
We’ve been meaning to try this place for months and I wish we had come sooner. The selection of seafood is good and everything is top quality when it comes to taste. The service was very friendly and attentive. I tried a lobster roll and it tasted amazing - the pieces were hot and buttered. My wife tried a fried fish sandwich which she really enjoyed and was a good value for the price. We also shared some delicious fried calamari and a basket of fried shrimp with fries. The total ended up being a bit on the higher side but the food was well worth it.
Lobster salad was amazing. The oysters are fresh. Nice location. The large party dining room is elegant and fun of mementos.
Returned to Bread and Brine yesterday and ate at the restaurant. Ordered a cup of New England Clam Chowder, a Lobster Grilled Cheese, and a Caesar Salad. The Clam Chowder was top notch - delicious. The salad was very good. But the Lobster Grilled Cheese was a disappointment. It was served with what almost seemed like hot Cheeze-Wiz oozing out of it. This completely overpowered and drowned out the other tastes in the sandwich not to mention it was very messy. The keyword here is LOBSTER. A lobster grilled cheese should highlight the lobster not the cheese. The cheese should be an added ingredient and should be more subtle. Service was good and accommodating to a request to prepare a Caesar Salad without Kale.
This place is very expensive or the quality. The food's just okay. Went there for the steamers, portions are smallish and the butter was not drawn. I hopes but disappointing overall.
Lobster roll was phenomenal! Super fresh and juicy. Will definitely be back to try their other dishes.
Great food and drinks. Full entrees to smaller plates with a no frills, New England, beachy feel like lobster rolls and fried clams.
Other then the apps and main course coming at the same time, which was annoying and caused me to eat my main course cold, the food was good.
Best place for oysters and lobster rolls and it’s not even close. Also have great selection of beers for the summer
It was our first time in the place and we did very well. The service in Spanish helped a lot to have a good experience. The food was good.
Honestly, I don't understand the hype around this place. Yes, it is located in an expensive neighborhood, not far from the shore. The menu is interesting, but the portions are smaller than typical in similar restaurants. Food tasted nice, but based on other reviews, I expected a bit more flavor. And the service truly surprised me. Do I need to come in wearing a tuxedo to get any attention? Young man was clearly bored and wasn't trying to hide it. Indifference increased when I told him that I'm driving and not planning on purchasing alcohol. No one asked - how was the food, or do we want to order anything else. Verdict: we came, we ate, we paid, we left: nothing to write home about. Somewhat disappointed since we decided to dine there based on earlier reviews.
Went there for Mother's Day. Was crowded but staff made sure we were served well. Food was delicious. Get the lobster roll. Had a great time!
