Brighton Tokens & Coins reviews
12Very friendly and great service. The owner and his employee are very knowledgeable and made me feel very comfortable. If you are a coin/ token collector or looking to sell, this is the place for you. They took the time to help me and seem to be happy to share their knowledge.
I have used Brighton Tokens & Coins twice now for selling coins for an estate. Doug and Randy were a pleasure to work with. They are knowledgeable, experienced and professional. On my last visit, I was the first appointment of the day, and I appreciated the privacy and security that appointments provided me. I highly recommend this business.
Writing my first review it's very fitting that it be for such a good business. I've been there twice (and reading other reviews made me realize how nice they are there. I never thought to call for an appointment but after meeting Doug at the door Randy gave him the ok to let me in) and bought supplies for my coin collection. Along with that I received such good information and advice that Ill not ever look elsewhere. I'm thinking of making some investments for my son's and grandsons future and now feel confident that my choices are great ones. You need not hesitate to frequent the coin shop. You'll be happy you did.
I had some old coins and paper money that my dad had collected during WWII and after. He’s been gone for 28 years now, and I still had these things because I just didn’t know what to do with them. I was afraid of getting ripped off, as I know nothing about coins. I finally made up my mind to do something, and went on my area’s Facebook group to ask for recommendations. I got quite a few, and Brighton Tokens & Coin came up a lot. I made an appointment, which was great as it was during the pandemic, and the owner could not have been more knowledgeable or helpful. He explained why things were worth what they were, and why other things weren’t worth so much. Lots of interesting background on coins, and I felt very confident that I was getting a fair and honest appraisal of what I had. In the end I sold a bunch of the coins and money to him, getting an amount I was extremely pleased with. Everything was listed on the receipt, and I felt very pleased that I had finally gotten them out of my house. It was a great experience. I would highly recommend Brighton Tokens & Coin for any business you might have regarding coins, or if you’re interested in coins and collecting.
Drove 45 minutes to look at their coins upon arrival they told me i have to leave and can’t be in there unless I’m there for a specific item. No worries I left very fast and never will go back.
Simply the best. No need to waste your time dickering anywhere else. Brighton Tokens and Coins a place you can trust.
WOW! Doug sure knows his coins. I was there to get an appraisal of my deceased husband's coin collection. I have to say Doug was just absolutely wonderful. The service he provided, his knowledge and his honesty made a difficult task as easy as it could be.
He took the time to explain why some coins were better than others and didn't hesitate to tell me when he found a "good" one.
I definitely recommend Brighton Tokens & Coins, especially if you're unsure of the value of your collection. Honesty is the best policy.
Will definitely be returning.
I returned to the good people at Brighton Token & Coin today for the first time since college and the Army took me away from childhood coin collecting. Now with kids of my own, it is time to pass the torch to the new generation. The last time I saw Doug, he sold me a diamond so I could get on one knee, and today he hooked me up with a replacement chain for my wife's pearl from our tenth anniversary, in addition to the coin business we had going on in the showroom. He knows how to treat customers, and how to give kids the bug of collecting. I can tell you after seeing many terrible things in this world, it is such a delight for me to take in the simple pleasures of watching kids dig through a treasure chest full of coins anxiously anticipating their next valuable find that they think will make them rich. And every coin in that shop has a story behind it, filled with rich history, intrigue, and international drama. Randy knows them all, like a human Wikipedia of limitless numismatic knowledge. I remember standing in front of the counter when my eyes barely reached over it, listening to Randy for what I thought was hours explain the history behind each coin- its origin story, composition, relation to world affairs at its time of minting- and I felt that I owned a piece of history each time my dad took me in on a Saturday morning to buy a new coin. I've been to a lot of "coin shops" in my days, and a lot of them are merely pawn shops or antique stores that happen to have coins. If you want the real deal- the full experience of collecting, with fantastic customer service, and the people who are passionate about the hobby enough to make it a career, this is the place to go. Or if you are looking to buy some gold & silver, or cash in your stash when the market is up, they will treat you equally as important. These guys are the real deal and Brighton Tokens & Coins is one of the few good ones left anywhere.
Excellent customer service! I am a novice collector who inherited coins from grandparents and appreciated all of the time spent to help me with the basics of coin collecting. This terrific service included understanding what makes a coin valuable and how to properly care for the pieces.
This is the best coin shop in upstate New York. The people here are very knowledgeable and are always happy to help you find what you need.
They never answer the phone, Some mechanical answering machine, Left message anyway of course not returned, Hes been there for years and at this point could simply care less about new customers. Id say pass of this guy
I took my father who is elderly & has collected coins for 50+ years. We were greeted immediately and received personal service from the owner himself. My father who enjoys collecting pennies had a list & the owner spent a good 30-45 minutes going over this list and other coins. My father couldn’t stop talking about his time there & looks forward to our next visit. Ive never taken the time to write a review but felt I needed to due to our experience today. I highly recommend this shop to anyone looking for a great coin store & knowledgeable staff.
