They returned my wife's passport and supporting docs without processing, no decision has been made and the application was not even registered in their system. No refusal letter, no visa. Apparently, there was a technical mistake and they simply ignored the application.
With any other consulate, that would be a simple question solved by exchanging a few kind e-mails and mailing the passport back for processing. Not in this case.
The customer service center is absolutely unhelpful, 6 weeks passed, and they don't care. Still "investigating" a case that takes about 5 minutes to crack. Apparently, the contact center has no direct communication to the visa service and can only toggle "escalation" check boxes in their system. And of course, they refuse to give a refund for an application that was never reviewed in the first place.
I don't care about the visa at this point (had to cancel our travel plans), but gravely insulted by the abysmal customer service, lack of empathy and any sort of help from the Customer Service. I will make sure this story goes as far as Antony Phillipson, British Consul General in New York, and amends are made to the consulate's customer service practices in the future.
My case was processed smoothly. Regular visitor visa application. Did not buy premium service. Did fingerprint last Tuesday. Sent the documents in via UPS next day on the same day. Documents arrived the next day and received confirmation that afternoon. Received status update on Friday. Got my visa in my passport on Monday morning. I also organized my documents in categories with post-it on top of each. Overall a very easy process.
HOW CAN I TALK TO CUSTOMER SERVICE? BEEN TRYING TO SPEAK WITH SOMEONE ABOUT MY FINGER PRINT APPOINTMENT
Please i need help.they do not accept the USPS shipping label and i got stuck with that electronic shipping label but for some reason it takes my money every time i try to purchase one and not giving me any receipt or any confirmation number. Help needed? !
I had a positive experience with the British Consulate in New York.
I applied for a visitor's visa from Canada, details are provided below:
September 28: Submitted documents and biometrics at VFS's office in Edmonton.
September 29: British Consulate in New York acknowledged receipt of documents.
October 6: Decision was communicated via mail.
October 11: I received my passport.
Don't order the Premium Priority. It is a scam. They promise 5 days process time and this is my 7th. My flight is in 1 day. And I carefully followed the instructions. I called the embassy they said my visa has been reviwed, which means it just seats there on someone' desk. Such a poor service! I am so disappointed.
I wish there was negative star.they are the worst didn't even read email and the system how it work is missed up.really need to rebuild the system
Hi, just a question, i just applied by USPS post to the new york British consulate general, I forgot to signed and date my Printed application, though i sent it by post a day after the Biometrics done <>. Hope this wont affect the decision making?

06/05/2017 Visa printing email.there was 2 application for my parents.send all documents without any separation.downside no communication or status update before they issue you visa.hopes its helps.

Good day, I will like to escalate a hurtful and unfair decision i received from the UK embassy in New York. I have applied for a visitor visa and was banned for 10 years. I strongly disagree with the decision of the entry clearance officer as i believe the evidence was ignored and wrongfully banned. This is so unfair as i submitted a letter along with the application detailing the answer to the question which i was accused of misrepresentation. I need to bring this to UKVI attention. I need help
Last time my wife and daughter applied visa from the embassy. Visa came w/in 4 days. I don't know why people are blaming, Some time their documents may be not in order, i think.
No customer service. If you have a question we don't care here at UK consulate.write us an email and we will respond back if we care enough in 3 or 5 days or never.
I got in such a big trouble because the " calling advisors gave me the wrong answer and guidance" besides that their new Mailing System was down and I could not sent my application on time.
Hi all, I applied for a six months UK visa. Do you know how long (on average) it takes to get your passport back from the Embassy? I got a confirmation that they started processing my application on 04/20.
