Absolutely horrendous. Waiting for a new construction CofO. House was completed 3 months ago. Called Building department more than 3 times, got a recording to leave name and number, no one calls back. Every time I try to speak with an individual named Tara she’s never there. I was told 10 working days since paperwork was finalized, now we’re going on 3 weeks. One nice woman I spoke to claimed they’re extremely short staffed and department supervisor doesn’t want to hire additional people. For 23K a year in taxes residents should get better service.

Not helpful at all. I call a dozen times to speak to somebody and all I get is some interns or something that say I need to email the person I’m trying to get on the phone and they will get back to me. But they never do

Probably the most inefficient office with the worst customer service available. Don’t try to call during regular business hours because they rarely answer. What a joke.

I have to say these are the nicest people. I know that what they do is repetitive and that must be frustrating for them. I have only been treated kindly and with respect. You get what you give. Be nice and you get nice!

Applying rental permit. Takes three month. When call in. No one can answer question and transfer to voice message. Call 10 times. 10 times transfer voice message. Never get help.

The hired Expeditor, Brookhaven Building Plans Examiner and Inspector all giving me different information. I was confused on this ordeal to convert my basement into living space.

A few days ago a rude woman picked up the phone and gave me an attitude for no reason especially when i kept being nice even though she was disrespectful. Then decided to hang up as I said thank you.

Rude, not helpful, they just pass the buck around till you get to someones voicemail then you never get called back.

This is a perfect case study to explain why the government should not run anything. You'll go there and wait for hours to eventually get terrible service. Never will you find a more dysfunctional organization. If you think you can avoid their blatant disregard to customer service by using the phone instead of going in person, just try to leave a voicemail any of these pencil pushers, you will never get a call back.

Brookhaven violated my landlords house for several different things, 8 months later they have not returned to see if anything was addressed or returned phone calls, emails, or the pony express, gave them ANOTHER renters permit and could care less the house if riddled with mold to the point my child is having respiratory issues because of it, but if you try to build a deck on your house they’re right there with tape and write ups, disgusting

The WORST town in the Nation! If you try to do anything, you will suffocate with over-kill regulations and red tape beyond anything an average educated person would understand. There will be hours of waiting for the simplest transaction and you will not be treated with respect. Most of the employees are clueless. They are also the most unpleasant, miserable people who hate being there and could care less about you! This is all unfortunate, but very much the truth.
I sure wish the State and/or Fed Government would take notice! Brookhaven is such a large district with Zero accountability! They do whatever they want and as a result, most of the residents must deal w/incompetence, suffer hours of waiting, tons of unnecessary grueling red tape or give up. #GovernmentThatDoesn'tWork
