Brooklyn Boulders Queensbridge reviews
10 The training area can be shown! Unfortunately, the quality of the boulders is sub-par!
Apparently nobody in this hall has a clue about screwing.
My recent experience at Brooklyn Boulders left much to be desired. My primary issue was with the front desk employees who seemed uninterested in providing a solution for a booking problem I encountered. I had purchased a day pass online which, for some reason, wasn’t reflected in their system.
Given that I had taken the time to commute to the location and had proof of my purchase, I expected that they might offer to honor the pass regardless, or at the very least provide some form of compensation. However, such flexibility was disappointingly absent. The staff appeared apathetic about the situation, showing a lack of compassion for the inconvenience caused.
While I understand that technical issues can arise, the response from the employees seemed to reflect a lack of commitment to customer service. A simple gesture, such as offering a day pass, would have gone a long way in remedying the situation and showing goodwill. Instead, I was left feeling undervalued and dismissed.
In conclusion, while Brooklyn Boulders may have a lot to offer in terms of facilities and climbing experiences, they need to seriously reconsider their approach to customer service. The quality of customer interaction can greatly impact the overall experience, and in this case, it left a sour taste in my mouth.
Update: their management team has been very proactive in rectifying this issue by email. I look forward to my next visit.
We had the intro class with Chris, who was an amazing teacher! It was a first for us and he made us feel super comfortable and safe, while giving us advice on how to improve our moves. Also, the class included 3 different climbing styles (free and with ropes). Definitely recommend
Really big, fun gym with lots of different climbing options for all levels. Good workout space as well.
Overall a great experience, wanted to check out the gyms in this area, staff was friendly and I especially appreciated the bouldering mats being so soft and comfortable to land on. However, I found it quite odd that the walls were really slippery so you couldn’t smear. Many holds felt too smooth too and chalk didn’t help. I also found the route setting pretty interesting, as some v2s felt like V0s but some v2s were difficult and strategic. A lot of the climbs just kind of confused me, honestly, lack of foot holds even for easy climbs. I really enjoyed how large the bouldering area was though, and a lot of variety in the styles of climbs compared to my home gym, some pretty long and tiring but it was cool. The overhang cave area was really dark, it would be nice if they put LED lights around it or something. Saw people on here complain about the humidity and stuff but I had no problems. Bathrooms were nice and chalk dispensers is something I’ve never seen before. Good gym
Visited on a Monday, loved that there weren't much people so we got to take our time and have fun
Excited to go back
LOVED my first experience at Brooklyn Boulders. Chris Nicola was an amazing, skilled (and patient) instructor with the best chalk bag on earth. Thanks again.
Has a good number and variety of problems but has a few issues I think when compared to competitors: the walls are smooth wood and don't allow for smearing which feels kind of limiting and there are many kids and new climbers that are not informed of proper gym safety or etiquette: don't stand in the fall zone, don't crowd the wall when projecting a problem, step back from the wall when not actively climbing, avoid walking underneath people when they're climbing. The safety issues need to be addressed and enforced
Good gym, the routes are fun and its clean and not too crowded in the day. The only issue is they never have clean towels, I know it's petty to write a review but c'mon I'm paying $100+ a month
Let's just say that my kids are excited to return! The staff was pleasant and the place is clean. The other climbers were helpful and that was a plus, since this was my second time after almost 5 years. It's easy to get to by train and there are nearby parking garages with reasonable fees too. Til next time! It was definitely fun!
