Brooklyn Steel reviews
17I loved this venue. I went to see a rare reunion performance of one of my favorite bands, Mr Bungle, and the sound system was excellent, the employees acted professionally and there were a lot of great spots to watch the show without worrying about someone blocking your view. It's got a balcony, two elevated side levels, and an elevated level behind the sound man but no seating. There's food and of course drinks available and it's got a very cool vibe. I'd go back for more shows. It's a bit of a hassle to find if you don't live in the area of Brooklyn where it's located (I live in Manhattan) so I'd look on Yelp or a map for directions. Worth it though.
Went to see the band The War On Drugs play at this venue. I was blown away by the acoustics. It's the type of place where you can feel the music throughout your whole body. The second level is definitely the best place to be to experience the music.
I came from Florida to see Mr Bungle here and it was a pretty cool spot. The sound was kind of weird for a couple bands but I'm not sure it was the venue.
I only took off a single star because of how they lined us up to get inside. I went to both shows the band put on here and the second night I was dead set on getting front and center. I was first in my line after they split us into two to go through security. Well, we head in and a photographer is on my side's metal detector. He's taking out every.single.piece of equipment he has in his bag. Meanwhile, a few dozen people have gone through the other line. Might not sound like a big deal, but I waited 3 hours in really cold weather to get that spot. It felt really disorganized and was frustrating. But yes, I did manage to get front and center that night (but I had to skip out on merch)
Anyway, the place is really big inside but like others said, it feels intimate for sure. All in all, very enjoyable spot.
Awesome venue. The main floor is large & crowded, but it helps that they have giant ceiling fans circulating air to keep it cool inside. Coat check is $4 if you feel that expense/line are worth it. They also have a balcony area in the back that looked a little less crowded & had another bar. Light and sound productions were great here.
A night out in Brooklyn to see great shows and talented artists. The space is large enough to not feel stuck in the middle of the crowds. There’s of course the occasional loud person who’s there to chat.
Entry to the venue is always easy and fast, coat check is available and they do their best to get the lines moving faster. I wish the staff would be trained to make people move after they claimed their stuff.
Bathrooms are always well maintained.
AC can blow a bit too much sometimes but I guess it’s better than being in a stuffy venue.
Always a great place to see live music! Easy to get to. Parking can be an issue but it’s in Brooklyn so you should expect that. Arrive alittle early and you’ll find a spot
Impossible to get a customer service rep if you have any question about the charges, or getting a refund.
My event's dates were changed and they refused to issue a refund, after spending a ton of time trying to reach them, their email service is slow, their online chat is only canned responses (the one good thing is that you can save the chat to send to your credit card, who will gladly cancel the charge).
Really large space. Incredible sound. Not a fan of the location, but that's not necessarily their fault. Having food and drinks on site is a plus since there isn't much else in the immediate area.
TOVE LO Rocked our evening to a sold out crowd.
Love the venue, acoustics are thumping. Cocktails are strong and well priced. Bartenders are friendly and fast.
Security checkpoint is efficient and faster then the airport.
I got the chance to see Allan Stone perform at Brooklyn Steel. The place is a great music venue with great acoustics, sound and lights and very close to Manhattan. The security staff was great and it felt like a safe venue. All in all 4 out of 5 stars. Some of the staff helping with the merch were a little rude, but I guess it's part of the job. Meh. I would certainly go again!
Great venue, good acoustics but needs a good clean as the dust was falling from the ceiling! The gig was Metronomy, class!
Solid sound, staff has been pretty efficient, $4 coat check, giant ceiling fan is keeping the whole place pretty cool. Overall would see another concert here
Not a Bad seat in the house! Because it's standing room only. And believe it or not that's not a Bad thing.
Saw an Allen Stone concert. One of the best I've ever seen. Even his opening acts were more than talented.
The venue was on point with sound and room. The people next to us were friendly and reflexed. The atmosphere was so right.
If I had to complain, my drink cost almost as much as my ticket. Could be I got a great show at a cheap price or a weak drink at a expensive price. I just hope Allen got a percentage of the bar. He's worth that and much more.
Great venue for music. The space is large but still intimate. The stage seems to be arms reach from almost anywhere. Great sound and acoustics. There is a full bar at the back so you won't have to miss any of the show while you get drinks. There is a nice, big balcony with a VIP section in the back, and a raised section below it in front of the bar so you have clear line of sight to the show almost anywhere. Despite the industrial setting, the space is quite clean, even the large bathrooms, which I did not expect. The cleaning staff seems to be on their game. Getting in and getting out were quick and easy. There were no bottlenecks when leaving. There is a bus stop around the block that will take you to the subway in a few minutes, so the location, while seemingly a bit remote, is still accessible.
Don't miss a chance to see your favorite band or artist at Brooklyn Steel.
Saw Tove Lo here on 2/13. Really great venue, nice and big, multiple bars, and two levels. Super large bathrooms so there was never a wait.
Easy security.
Only downside is that it’s not really by the subway (15 minutes walking from the L). Great time!
Cool venue, but I would probably never do general admission there ever. Too many people packed in that space. They had to have been over the legal limit for the show I was at. I really didn't get to really enjoy myself because people were very pushy or they wouldn't let you return to your space that you were originally at. If you had to use restroom or get a drink your night was pretty over trying to get back into the general admissions area. It just seemed unsafe if there was a situation where you needed to get out, you would be trampled for sure. Dont don't general admission of you want to enjoy yourself is my word of advice. Sound system was probably the best part of seeing a show there.
Alot bigger than I thought. Pretty good sound. Much easier to drive to than take a train. Plenty of street parking around. That new bar across the street is great to pregame. Dont check your coat, line went to the door upon leaving.
