Budget Car Rental, Rochester NY

The car was a Hyundai Kona. I have nothing against Hyundai cars, typically they are very good cars. The car Budget gave me was the worst car I have ever rented. First thing when entering the car I was hit the most intense odor of cleaning chemicals, only realize later that it was an attempt to mask the smell of vomit. It was disgusting. Also, the care shimmied and pulled once it got up 60 or 65 MPH, I did not feel safe on the highway with this car. And the front left tire was low. Never again, Budget!

This was my first time renting with Budget and unfortunately, there were tremendous hidden fees that was not explained. I am sharing so the next person will be aware of fees such as Taxable Products/Services + Non-Taxable Products/Services. And returning the vehicle early, you charged for the time you reserved it. So in for renting a small vehicle for two days, I paid a $128 per day with all the fees. This was my first-time rental a vehicle with Budget and my last.

The positive was the staff at the customer service desk and at the vehicle drop-off. Hence the two stars.

When we returned the car we felt like Budget was trying to blame us for damage that occurred before we rented the car. Budget needs to improve their rental procedure when you initially pick up the car.because there was basically no inspection form or way to document existing damage in their procedure.

Black Honda Accord I had should be taken out of circulation. Car has several scratches all over it, a dent in the driver door, passenger side wiper is falling apart causing it to not wipe the windshield thoroughly, inside of the car smells like cigarettes and wasn’t thoroughly cleaned, passenger side view mirror unable to be adjusted from the inside of the car; mirror has to be adjusted manually from outside of the vehicle and the tires need to be looked at as they make a lot of noise over 50mph.

Just book ahead and get any other company. For the same price you can have a better experience with enterprise, national, Avis, or other.

The car I received smelled terribly of cigarettes. It was unpleasant to drive. The only reason I gave it two stars was the pick up very quick due to prepaying.

The person who helped us at the desk when we were picking up the car was extremely rude. He was giving us no information when we asked questions and then proceeded to try to charge out credit card when we were using points. Then when we got to the car it barely had gas and we were told to return it with a full tank (which we still did).

Counter agent was extremely rude and unprofessional. His inability to navigate the Budget computer system delayed the check-in process. He maintained that the problem was me, raising his voice and eventually necessitated the manager's intervention to process the check-in. The agent threw the key on the counter without an apology or thanking me for the business. I've used Budget in the past several times for pleasure but after this experience may select a different rental company.

The rental process was quick and easy. They ended up giving us a Jeep Grand Cherokee. It only had 970 miles on it. It fit my mobility scooter, wheelchair, cooler and our luggage. It was a comfortable ride. The rates were fantastic. Staff was very friendly. I will be doing business with Budget again very soon!

The car had an unacceptably worn front right tire with wear bars showing, the passenger wiper blade was torn and the rear wiper was ineffective. Staff were respectful and helpful.

The rental itself was good. New, clean car returned the car 1 hr prior to schedule and receive my receipt and charged $120 more than what my reservation stated.

Picked up car with cracked windshield. Car smelled of cigarette smoke that never went away. Used kleenex in backseat area. Inside windshield was Never cleaned. Got to rental house and had to clean off funk from every seat! Very poor situation…

Very disappointed here as a Fastbreak member the Budget counter wasn't even manned on a Friday afternoon of a holiday weekend. I was told to wait in line at Avis to check out a car I had reserved. Car smelled of cigarette smoke and bad car deodorant spray. This seems to be the same as my past few rentals with Budget.

The car was clean and seemed new, but we requested a pickup truck and it wasn’t available. Seinfeld had a great skit about holding rental car reservations; that’s basically what happened. And the lady at the Rochester airport Avis counter was not friendly nor very helpful.
