I moved to this area recently and needed a new vet for my dog. This office is convenient if you live nearby, but based on 2 visits I feel they don’t provide quality care. The first visit I came for a test since my dog was exposed to ringworm. The visit + the test totaled almost $300. The vet told me I’d get my results within 4 weeks but they never followed up until I emailed them 6 weeks later asking for an update.

During that same appt, the vet also examined my dog’s teeth and told us he had rotting teeth + inflamed gums and needed dental surgery asap. He kept emphasizing that the situation was very severe and repeatedly tried to get me to book a dental surgery with them in the next few weeks. They quoted me upwards of $2000 - $3000 for the procedure (minus bloodwork costs) and estimated at least 8 teeth needed extraction. Just a few months prior my dog had his annual at a vet in LIC, where they said his teeth were fine, so I was shocked and obviously panicking. I told them not to schedule the procedure yet because I wanted to do some more research on pricing, and in response the vet told me that if I do not book this procedure soon, my 3 yo dog is at risk of death from periodontal disease.

After I left their office, I got a second and third opinion from Bond Vet in Clinton Hill and P&A Animal Hospital (in Georgia). Both vets told me that his teeth definitely did need some dental cleaning and a maximum of 6 teeth extracted, but it was not severe & I could wait another year or two to save up if funds were an issue. They both confirmed he did not have periodontal disease. I ended up choosing P&A because they quoted me for $700 and also explained to me exactly which teeth looked suspicious & taught me about dog dental anatomy + how to brush and care for his teeth better. They ended up extracting 2 teeth. When I compare the experience with these vets vs Bushwick Vet, I’m so thankful I didn’t go with Bushwick because they overcharged by 3-4x, did not care to explain what was wrong/how I could do better, and could have extracted way more teeth than necessary.

The second time I went was just for my dogs yearly vaccinations. A similar situation happened again this time where it felt like the vet was pressuring me to spend more money asap. Basically there were a few vaccines they recommended that I had never heard of before from previous vets that were each around $65, and some would need follow-up booster shots within the next few weeks which would also be another $65 + $15 technician fee for each session (including the current one).

I decided I would first ask around other places to compare prices, so I said I would opt out for now. To that, the vet said something along the lines of “that’s fine but just so you know, many dogs who have not gotten this vaccine have died. ” and then asked me again if I was sure I wanted to opt out. So obviously I said jesus Ill pay the damn $160 (for both the shot + follow up booster + two technician fees).

Based on those 2 experiences, I feel like this vet office puts a lot of pressure and appeals to you emotionally in order to get you to pay as much as possible. I get it, they need to pay rent and bills but there is a surprisingly lack of care that is somewhat expected from a veterinary center. Especially when there are more affordable and more caring options in the city, I wouldn’t trust Bushwick Vet to give my dog the best treatment, or to give me as a pet owner the right knowledge and tools to provide my dog better care.

I've had a fantastic experience with Bushwick Veterinary Center. From start to finish, the staff have been nothing but friendly and accommodating. It's pretty straightforward to schedule an appointment, and the wait times are reasonable.

Both the vet techs and doctors are highly knowledgeable and thorough in their examinations. They take the time to answer any questions and make sure you're at ease.

One heads-up: this center is quite popular, so they do get busy. I recommend calling ahead to schedule an appointment to ensure you get a slot that works for you!

I switched to this veterinary practice several years ago because my dog was terrified of our previous vet's office. My dog and I both love this place! I especially appreciate the transparency in pricing- you are shown a list of all procedures and medications and their prices before they are administered. You can ask questions or opt out of anything. We have seen Dr Taie and Dr Grossman over the years. Both are excellent. My dog loves all the employees, even the people who poke him for blood tests and vaccines. I trust this place completely.

Very kind and knowledgeable staff. My cat gets car sick and they’re always very good about cleaning him up and making him feel comfortable. The receptionists and vet techs are all great, as are Dr. Taie and Dr. Grossman. They are good with giving constructive feedback for pet parents and telling it like it is. Highly recommend!

I arrived for my appointment to get my puppy a heart worm test and waited for almost an hour before deciding to leave. Someone came out to take his weight and ask why we were there in the first 10 minutes and thats about it. The receptionists just watched me wait and didn’t say anything and then when I finally asked 45 minutes later they said I’d be seen soon and that they had some emergency cases they were dealing with. That’s totally okay but I would have appreciated a little transparency from the get go because I would have been open to rescheduling or at least like to know what kind of wait I was getting into. This was my first time here and I won’t be coming back. Staff also weren’t friendly and seemed annoyed that my puppy was getting antsy (obviously because we just sat in a waiting room for 45 minutes) and then one of them asked if he was mean cause he was wagging his tail and whining? Honestly just a really weird, unwelcoming, and unprofessional experience overall.

Took my 1 year old pomeranian for wellness check yesterday. I'm trying to find a vet in brooklyn, as I currently go to Queens. I have mixed emotions about this place. They took the time to answer your questions, but they took my dog into another room to do what? How do I know what, if anything, was done or given to my dog? Why couldn't I stay with her? I really didn't like that. My bill came to over $400. I didn't get any results for the tests that I requested, I'm not even sure that they performed any tests. No proof of any treatments given. The bill doesn't give you a breakdown of the costs, so you have to blindly trust that they are taking care of your pet. This place was recommended but I doubt that I will go back. I'm going to reach out to them today and state my unhappiness with their procedures

If you have a rescue that’s in anyway anxious - please read this. I adopted a rescue pit bull with extreme vet anxiety (FAS) this year. I called this vet and explained the situation and filled out detail notes when booking the appointment. They said it was fine and just bring her in. Red flag number one. Having brought her to a far better vet recently, I now know how truly wrong they got absolutely everything. Here’s what should have happened: in realizing her extreme anxiety, they should have told me that she needs to be on an anti anxiety pill as well as a sedative every time we come. They should have used that first visit to simply coexist in the room with her and throw her some treats. They should have told me to bring her in for a few “happy visits” (where you bring your pet in just to chat and give them treats to build up a positive association with the vet) before ever trying to get close to her. Here’s what they actually did: firstly, they did not tell me that I should have her on a sedative or anti anxiety pill ahead of our first appointment. Zero guidance there. Once our appointment began, the vet assistant (a woman) sat on the ground and started putting her hand in the air randomly to see my dog’s reaction and gauge her level of anxiety. By this point my dog was already very upset and she should have known that would only put her more on edge. Then the vet came in - I believe it was Dr. Grossman. He got me to put a muzzle on my dog. Without her EVER having worn one before, having done zero muzzle training, which they knew. A story which I have since retold to a friend of mine who is a vet and whose jaw was on the floor. I knew in my gut it was wrong and I’ll never stop feeling guilty for complying. She absolutely freaked out. She tried her hardest to paw it off. I felt absolutely horrible. On top of that - the vet assistant recommended that I LEAVE THE ROOM. I stood my ground there and said I was going to stay. I took the muzzle off her. The vet asked the assistant to leave the room. He got my dog to come close to him by giving her peanut butter on a stick and trying to gently touch her chest while she licked. While I appreciated in the moment that he was trying, he should have told me by that point that an exam wouldn’t be possible that day. When I asked for advice, he really made me feel like he thought I was lying when I said I was already doing those things (e.g get her used to new people, new situations). I tried to explain that her anxiety happens solely at the vet but I didn’t feel like he believed me. Here’s the absolute kicker: he recommended I take her to the Behavior Vets of NYC in Chelsea. In other words: don’t come back here. A mere consultation there costs $900 - look it up if you don’t believe me. He could not have cared any less about helping me help my pup. They do not care about animals - it’s a business and nothing more. I’ll be reporting the vet with all of the detail in this review. I’ve now found an absolutely outstanding vet who has taught me about the happy visits, about how to help my dog be more comfortable at the vet, and she is slowly getting more and more comfortable. Please do not use this vet. There are FAR better options in the neighborhood with vets who actually give a damn about your pet. I’ll end with this - I do not expect every vet to be willing to deal with dogs like mine. But at the very least I expect to be told when a service will not be possible instead of having the vet make it up as they go, be absolutely careless with my pet and further traumatize her and make her vet anxiety even worse. And then to end the appointment by suggesting I take her to a $900 consultation in the city rather than dropping their ego and simply letting me know cannot provide the kind of care she needs. I’ll long be living with the guilt of ignoring my gut feeling and complying with what this vet asked me to do. Please, if you love your rescue and they’re even a tiny bit anxious, do not bring them here to get retraumatized.

This vet office is terrible! They claim to “work with rabbits”, but my experience says otherwise. Over the span of a month they could not diagnose my rabbit. I switched to a new vet clinic and my rabbits issue gets diagnosed in ONE DAY! I can’t even make this up.

Their communication is horrible. I tried to call the vet to ask questions and I was ignored/left on hold for 30 minutes. When the vet finally called me back he let me know that my case wasn’t his priority. They are unprofessional and took a ton of money from me to not even solve my problem. Thank you so so much for this eye opening experience.

These people are thieves, lol.

Went to annual appointment, where they didn’t tell me to bring a fecal sample, they made me pay for it (which I discovered only later, when in fact the nurse had told me they had removed that charge from my bill) then receptionist told me I can keep it in the fridge for up to 30 days and sent me off.

I come back a month later, with a fecal sample 3.5 days old that I also put in the fridge right away, they told me that
A) sample wasn’t good anymore (now suddenly the thirty days became 1 day or up to 24h if in the fridge)
B) that I had to pay AGAIN for the service that I DID NOT get,
C) refused to run that service with the sample I gave them and that I had already paid for.

They did not listen to reason while they are the ones who clearly miscommunicated (told me the wrong expiration date for the fecal sample, omitted to tell me that I had to come back within a certain date AND refused to run the service I already PAID for).

Don’t care about the stupid double entry for cats and dogs, if you guys are just stealing money and incompetent in communicating.

I love this place, scheduling is always easy. The staff is friendly, procedures are reasonably priced. I never feel like I’m being guilted into spending more.

Love this vet, they're really kind, offer thorough breakdowns of all costs and are actually well-priced for Brooklyn. My cat obviously doesn't like going to the vet but she's always handled with care and compassion. Thank you guys!

Everyone working there was so kind and helpful. My dog can't be around other dogs and they were extremely accommodating and understanding, and made sure we got into and out of the office without interaction with other animals. My dog hates getting vaccines but they kept it quick and painless. Extremely low stress as far as vet visits go for my sweet pup. $300 for the vet visit, a stool sample exam, and 3 vaccines. On the pricier side in general but very inexpensive for New York (unfortunately lol).

Don't take your pets here! I've gone several times over the years since it is so close to my home but I'm done! The doctors here dont take the time to carefully look and treat your pet and they are most interested in making money. They are exceptionally bad at communicating and won't do anything without charging you for it. I asked one doctor (Sarah) just to look at my dogs tooth and she refused unless i made an appointment for a teeth cleaning. My most recent visit they wouldnt let me buy heartworm pills unless he had another test which he had just had 6 months ago and had been on heartworm medication without interruption. Dealing with them is infuriating and I'm sick of their high costs and lack of care. Staff is rude and wouldn't get my dog some water even though it was 86 degrees outside. This place sucks.
