Completely Dreadful Experience

My wife and I had dinner recently at Butterfield with two friends to celebrate our wedding ceremony earlier that day. I made sure to inform the restaurant when I made reservations the special reason for our dinner. This information fell on deaf ears, as no recognition was advanced to our party by any member of the staff, the first of several communication breakdowns that evening.

A dish of hard bread was placed on our table - definitely not the "focaccia" we were told it was - and the waiter immediately asked for our drinks order. When we politely asked to see a drinks menu first, he seemed taken aback and withdrew without a word. Not a good start.

As far as the appetizers went, the smoked trout rillettes barely contained any roe, and the pilsner battered cauliflower tasted like takeout General Tso's chicken, oily and too sweet. The entrees were mediocre, save for the tagliatelle, which was a large mass of unseasoned noodles. The waiter never showed up to check on our meal, so we were three-quarters of the way finished before I managed to flag down a server from another section and request a salt shaker.

Oh, and the cocktails we'd ordered with our entrees? They wouldn't arrive until all four of us were finished with dinner. In short, NYC prices for an amateur hour experience. Avoid Butterfield at all costs.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Butterfield in HH on Stone Ridge, and the experience was nothing short of delightful. From the moment I stepped in, the warm ambiance and inviting decor set the stage for a memorable evening.

The menu at Butterfield showcases a thoughtful selection of dishes, each a testament to the chef's commitment to quality and innovation. I opted for the pan-seared sea bass, a perfectly executed dish that combined flaky fish with a crisp skin, accompanied by a citrus-infused sauce that added a refreshing zing. The attention to detail in presentation was evident, making each plate a feast for the eyes as well as the palate.

The dessert selection was equally impressive, with the chocolate lava cake stealing the show. The decadent molten center oozed out with each indulgent spoonful, leaving me in dessert heaven.

Service at Butterfield was impeccable – attentive without being intrusive. The staff was knowledgeable about the menu, offering recommendations and ensuring a seamless dining experience.

While the prices reflect the high-end nature of the establishment, the quality of the ingredients and the culinary craftsmanship justify the cost. Butterfield at HH on Stone Ridge is a culinary gem, perfect for special occasions or anyone seeking an elevated dining experience. I look forward to my next visit to savor more of Butterfield's culinary creations.

Overall, Butterfield was just ok. Food was good but nothing exceptional. Waitstaff was disorganized and we waited a long time for each course, as well as drinks. Overall I was expecting a better experience, especially for the price. I would probably not choose to come back.

Had a delicious meal here! Lovely ambience, cozy, food was terrific!
Only negative is that it was so dark and hard to find the restaurant entrance!

Worst service I have ever experienced. The host seated us promptly for our 6: 30 reservation and took our water order, that's where the service ended. We were not served our water, no server came to our table to introduce themself or take our drink order. After 40 mins without anyone even glancing in our direction so we could flag them down, we got up and left.
Luckily an upscale restaurant in nearby Accord was able to take us without a reservation. The other restaurant was able to serve us drinks, appetizers, entrees and our check all within 90 mins of leaving Butterfield. In the end we were glad to have walked out of Butterfield as Inness had a more exciting menu, better decor, and exponentially better service.

Wonderful summer evening dinner at Butterfield— the outdoor dining space is beautiful with cute lights and a nice ambiance. Entrees were well proportioned and filled with local produce and meats. Highly recommend!

Service was horrendous. Started by walking in and having an older man (who worked there) yell at the hostess to not seat us even though we had a reservation for 730. Went for a birthday and the service ruined all celebrations. I was a party of 2 and watched multiple tables of 4 who sat after us receive drinks and food well before me. Waitress did not seem to care about the wait of our food and instead of checking on it she stood right next to me reordering bread plates for 10 mins. Asked the owner to please check on the food and drinks and while he said ok he never came back to check in and or hand us drinks/food. VERY DISAPPOINTED

Pleasantly surprised by the caliber of food, and service! Also looks like a well appointed inn, will look at staying in the future!

Everything was amazing here. The food, the service, the drink and wine selection. This was a magical and cozy spot.

This review is for the Butcher & Bar… been there multiple times and the food is the absolute definition of mediocrity. Really nice setting, beautiful spot, but the food has just been super disappointing. They do the bare minimum as far as providing condiments etc. Tried the burger once and chicken sandwich another time; probably won’t be trying a third. I WANT to like it because of the ambience but it’s not been up to par.

For the price, I wasn’t that impressed with the dinner options here. But if you’re staying in Hasbrouck House, it’s super convenient. And the dessert options are great! The butterscotch pudding with salted caramel is delicious.

Decent food, super pricey! But not a winter destination. Went for brunch and they didn’t bother to put heat on! We were freezing. I took two points because the table we sat on and utensils all smelled like eggs. They need to clean better. Save yourself the agony and head to eggs nest!

In Butterfield you can hear a pin drop, and on the Saturday night we had dinner, we felt like we had to whisper and were in a library.

Food and ambiance otherwise were great, but feel like privacy is an issue, and shouldn't be on a Saturday night.

The winter menu was exciting and the food was wonderfully delicious, although with some garnishes that felt unnecessary or not well executed (the black berries on the duck felt extra, the beets were boring, the shrimp on the squid ink pasta were small and were clearly playing 3rd or 4th fiddle to the actual pasta). The ambiance was warm, inviting, and felt lively with out being overwhelming. We would definitely return in all seasons to enjoy the rest of their offerings.

Worst managed front of house, overpriced, kind of obnoxious. We were four guests and arrived maybe 5 minutes late to our reservation, which we sincerely apologized for. The hostess said, “No worries! Your table isn’t quite ready yet. ” Totally fine! Let’s get a cocktail and wait. The hostess said someone would be over to take our order. We received our drinks promptly and played some pool downstairs. So far, so good. After about 30 minutes I decided to check on our table with the hostess… “My manager gave away your table” These are words I never expected to hear at a place of this caliber, and the manager was the person who brought us our drinks. I was needless to say, pretty indignant, but polite. I asked how they were going to make this right. She said that we would have a better table in just a bit. We waited nearly 2.5 hours and then got seated at a table in like the restaurant highway, between the kitchen and the front bar. I took the outer seat so none of my guests would be bothered. I was getting bumped into the whole time. We were polite and cordial throughout, but our patience was running thin and everyone came hungry. They obviously noticed this and were nice enough to buy us a really small pour of some French red wine, but seriously!? For 3 hours of waiting to get any food? They also tried to play it off like it wasn’t a big deal, which was frankly insulting. My guests were good friends and we had all resigned ourselves to enjoy the company and make jokes about it and have the best time possible. We honestly would’ve left, but there isn’t anything else close by. Then outside of the debacle of seating, our waitress was relatively inattentive - barely got refills of water once throughout our meal. The food was good, definitely a well curated menu, but not spectacular. Not even an offer to get us dessert. Very expensive meal all in, for a highly dissatisfying result. That’s when I decided to not return to Butterfield, as I had seen a little too much of it already.

Just sensational! Service was perfect, food so delicious and well cooked: lamb was melting in the mouth, the pasta with squash was delicious, the cheese board and butterscotch pudding for dessert was a great finish! The wine list is interesting and accessible. The dinner too was cosy - very good place - we recommend it 100%

$200 for what was to be a dinner that floated somewhere between average and “wtf? ! ” “Must-have” tuna tacos so fried that Taco Bell now seems like a macrobiotic oasis. And a cocktail so bizarre that tasted like it was made by a teen in a beach party.

Came here a year ago, had a terrible experience dining with a large group. Went back last night, and again won’t be going back anytime soon. You can’t charge NYC prices for sub par food and terrible service. I don’t go out to be spoken down to with micro aggressions by a so called manager (Eddie) the minute I have an issue with my order (entree was cold/ not what the menu said it was) and be schooled in a very condescending way. Place to be avoided at costs, especially if you are female.
