Park Buttermilk Falls reviews
12This is worth the visit. The picture posted is not the falls but the back side before the falls. Why ruin the surprise? Literally a minute walk to the falls from the road.
Beautiful, access to the top of the falls and below the falls. Wear hiking shoes. Gorgeous
Wonderful quick stop after old forge. Not good for people with disabilities or difficulties walking/climbing.
Short walk from road, great falls, plenty of water, some benches and tables, nice rocks to picnic on.
Fun place to visit, a simple 5 minute "hike" from the road. We actually drove 45 minutes just to see it and well worth the time. It's more like raging rapids with a 50 foot drop. Fun place to explore. Make sure to visit all areas: upper, middle, lower. Each area is unique.
Amazing spot to check out. A bit of a hike to get there but very manageable! The top, middle, and bottom of the falls are all very accessible and boast spectacular views
This place is a great hidden gem, but you REALLY need to bring bug spray. There's a place to park on the side of the road, which is at the head of the short trail to the falls. There is at least one picnic table visible along that trail. The kids loved it, except for those pesky biting gnats. Probably just the time of year we visited, at the end of May. Worth a visit, even if it's only just for 5 minutes.
Beautiful falls, but during the warmer months bring tons of bug spray and wear bug netting.
Always a treat and two minutes of the road…easily accessible in the snow, make sure to visit when the melt and run off are high for great photos
I never want to hate on anything that is offered by nature. It's all beautiful in my opinion.
But this is a disappointing waterfall if you can even call it that. It's more like the Buttermilk Rapids. I feel a waterfall needs to defy gravity. Fall of a rock ledge or cliff. No matter how big or small it needs to defy gravity even for just a little bit.
With that said, this is still a nice place for a quick stop. You can feel the power of the rapids. The flow is pretty intense even in the dead of winter.
It's an easy pit stop or even a short hike for families.
10/29/21. Enroute home from a day of walking to the Sargent Ponds, my dog and I visited Buttermilk Falls. The trail to this huge falls is a short one (only 2 min at the most) This falls never disappoints, and today, after all the rain we have had lately, WAS NO EXCEPTION! The falls were raging and beautiful! There are picnic tables here and there with stone fire-pits so you can made a real day of it, if you desire (theres also a privy near the roadway) Lots of rock and paths to explore above and below the falls! A truly awesome to see and visit!
An extra, see if you can find the small wooden cross for “Karl Will Geiger” (10/26/90 to 8/8/03) near the entranceway (near the privy).: i dont know the story behind this 12 yr old’s memorial cross, wish i did so i could tell you…but I can say, 12 years is too short of a life….
Godspeed Karl️
