Café China reviews
18The dim sum, garlic eggplant, and green tea ice cream are delicious! Service was speedy. We arrived at 5pm without a reservation and got seated within 10 minutes! Not a place to have a private conversation because you are seated very close to other patrons.
So goodd! Not too oily not too as salty as other chinese restaurant which is nicee the restaurant and the bathroom was very clean
My favorite Chinese place.
Must try:
Pork Dumplings in Chili Oil
Three Pepper Chicken
Dan Dan Noodles
Went there last night for the 4th time. It’s mostly sichuanese. I absolutely love everything they have. My favorite being husband and wife or sichuanese braised pork. Service is quick, and the waiting time was not so long. I do recommend this place. We were sitting, in my opinion, on the best place in that restaurant with a little light and a view to the ground floor. I absolutely love it.
Service incredibly fast-we took longer looking through the menu and deciding what to order than the food did to arrive (literally less than 10 mins). Staff super nice, and the ambience was very nice. It had a French cafe vibe, great date place. The shredded beef with green chilis was excellent, as was the eggplant & string beans. Both very flavourful & piping hot. We don't live in NYC anymore, but we will return!
Great food and service and reasonably priced! So delicious and oooking forward to coming back!
The bartender is AMAZING, had some of the best cocktails ever. I recommend the 2046 and golden plum. The shrimp fried rice with Chinese sausage was super flavorful, and the sausage and shrimp combo was great. The potstickers were crispy and perfect.
Everything at @cafechina was consistently in the upper rank for me in terms of Sichuan food in NYC. They are more on the oily side compared to their other competitors, but I enjoyed most of them. The husband and wife appetizer (beef tripe and tendon) was average and my favorite was probably the bamboo shoots, which I don’t see in other places as often.
I stopped in on a Sunday evening for a quick bite at the bar. I had the pork soup dumplings and they were wonderful. I also got the Tea Smoked Duck entree and it was fantastic. I was really glad it was boneless. I really enjoyed the sauce that was included. I had the Sapporo on draft and it was perfect. Service was quick an attentive, and I liked that they accepted Apple Pay/contactless payment. Would come back here again!
This excellent in their new space. They have a large upstairs space to accommodate large groups and parties. Green beans are still my favorite and so many other dishes
Beautiful Chinese aesthetics, place much larger than appears from outside. Tried the 3 pepper chicken and whole fish with peppers. Fish was to die for. 3 pepper chicken lacked some flavor but still decent. Would say one of the top Chinese food I’ve had. Will return to try other dishes. Good food for a decent price tag.
Service is so prompt and great. Food is also good I loved pea shoot and fried fish the most.
We waited for the restaurant to open on Saturday. And it was packed within an hour.
Recommended by a local and it was excellent. Food quality was very good and nice cocktails and beers. Would return and recommend.
A nice eatery with s bar on ground floor with lots of rooms on upper levels. This restaurant is nicely fitted out with subtle Chinese accents. Staff are friendly & efficient. We dropped by without a reservation & managed to get in albeit with a 90 min time frame as reservations were made. The food was varied with an emphasis on Sichuan cuisine. We were promptly served & dishes arrived fast & piping hot. The spice levels were a little mild but still very tasty. Prices are higher than normal Chinese restaurants in the area but deservedly so. A nice place to come with family or a group of friends. Reservations welcomed & best if are more than 4.
Excellent Szechuan restaurant with lots of options. Solid dishes and great flavors.
Have been here before but this time we ordered the Crispy Eel Wuxi Style, Husband and Wife Special, Braised Pork Szechuan Style, Spicy Fish Fillets, Fish Blossom, and Eggplants and String Beans for a party of five. Would recommend any and all of these dishes!
Decor has an old school Shanghai vibe. Would recommend trying to get a table on the first floor rather than the second floor if possible, unless you have a large party.
I am so lucky my hotel was right across the street from here. I went with my parents, and the staff are incredibly gracious and kind. We have not had fresh sichuan pepper corns since 2009. The staff are amazing, they even had chargers behind the host podium! The portions are massive, but still designed to share. Thank you to all of the staff at cafe chins. I had an amazing night!
You are in New York/Manhattan. Yet you are ported to an Chinese traditional village to enjoy the cuisine of the locals. Every dish speaks to its roots that no 6th Avenue joints could match. Go experience it yourself.
Came here to celebrate my friends birthday - the vibe and food is great! Highly recommend to get a private room for birthday celebration! And shout out to the server William for being so awesome!
