Cafe Himalaya reviews
17Absolutely amazing lamb potatoe and curry dish. So flavorful. Kind employees in the face of a rush. All food looked terrific. I would recommend all day. Cheers from AZ!
We had a grand time! Loved the sha momo and chili chicken the best.service is warm and friendly and we loved the chilled out atmosphere
Some of the best nepali momos! As a nepalese grown eating momos, i know when momos are good and these are AMAZING
My favorite restaurant in all of New York! It is Nepalese home cooking, masterfully and consistently prepared to perfection without a blip in its decades of being open. Bursting with unique and mind blowing flavor, while also so healthy! You will leave feeling healthier than when you came in. Lots of fresh ginger, greens, and so not oily or heavy, clean and fresh. Do not hesitate, invite everyone!
We got the veggie and chicken momos, paratha, and shapta. Pan fried dumplings are well done and pair well with the hot sauce. I want to try the potato dumplings next time. Paratha was buttery, crispy on the outside soft on the inside. Shapta had a great flavor and went great with rice. However, the beef was just a little tough. Overall great food for the price and this place is evidentially popular in the neighborhood.
Hands down best staff! Great place to catch up with friends. Food is authentically incredible. Been here for years- zero complaints!
The worst part when eating here probably is choosing from the menu full of delicious dishes. Once that is done you can expect delicious food in a high quality. The service are good and so were the prices. Would come here again.
The food was amazing! Quaint little Napolese Cafe. Wonderfully diverse menu. Amazing staff. 10/10 I would eat here again.
This is by far the best place to eat in Manhattan. The taste of their food is just extraordinary, and prices are super affordable. Will recommend it to everyone in NYC
It was incredibly difficult for me to make a choice of what to get because everything sounded amazing! I'm still dreaming about those pan fried potato dumplings. The tofu and vegetable curry with bean thread noodles was phenomenal as was a crispy noodle dish we also got. Beautiful flavors and hearty portions at great prices.
First review - probably some of the best food I’ve ever had. The curry chicken is out of this world good, as are the potato dumplings.
I really love this place and the people that serve me food here even though they don’t talk to me much… I come here often when it’s raining, cold, or when I feel upset. Their curry is addictive - and somehow I want to have it even when I have almost no appetite because I’m feeling sick, etc. The food here and the “hole in the wall” atmosphere almost always make me feel better if I am having a bad day.
The only tip I have for you is to not order the avocado salad and the curry together because the salad is basically the cold version of the curry, just with avocado pieces on top.
Oh, and get the dumplings steamed, not fried, because you will feel healthier that way and I’ve tried the fried version and realized that the fried ones taste only about 10% better at the expense of being 50% worse for your health.
I loved the food - we had ordered chilli shrimp, sautéed chicken noodles and dumplings. We wanted to try veg and non veg dumplings so they gave us both half at the price of chicken dumplings. It’s a must try!
This is my favorite restaurant in NYC. It feels like the best kept secret but after dining here for 7 years, I need to show some love. My friends and I come here once a month and without fail get: the avocado salad, steamed beef dumplings, and chili chicken. The food here is incredible and consistent. The prices for food & alc are phenomenal.
I love finding the places with unique flavors in the lower end of Manhattan, Cafe Himalaya hits all the marks. The Tofu Salad & Fried Rice were fantastic but you have test their special sauces too
Came here for a quick lunch-for-two, and had a satisfactory meal for $34.1. Steamed Tsel (Veg) Momos - Hot, plain, and fresh, but the accompanying chilli sauce was too spicy.
2. Tsel Gyathuk Ngopa (stir fried noodles) - The slightly burnt flavour was delicious, had good vegetables, and slightly oily at the bottom.
3. Mango+Banana+Orange Lassi - Cold and refreshing, nice mixed flavour!
