Bar Cafe Wha? reviews
19Music is really good and it’s the only thing that’s worth it. Waiters are very rude and regarding the space you are packed as sardine can. First and last time.
Reserved for 4, house band evening, mixed crowd, I would say average age is 30, good audio, very nice music with pop and Latin vibes, in short, very "pass par tout". Suitable for tourists or for a night without a specific music genre.all in all, great energy.just didn't get the bill, we were 4, had 8 cocktails + 3 shots of tequila = $292.18.hmm.the classic New York 'inculation'?
Tremendous place to hang out and listen to great live music and enjoy a drink or something to eat. I highly recommend it, a must visit in NYC.
I recommend booking in advance since it gets super crowded, very good service from everyone
Lively music venue, with great house band and the occasional guest artists. No cover charges amd reasonably priced drinks. What else can. You ask for? !
The brutal show. A great experience. The food was pretty good, we tried the burger and it was one of the best we ate in New York. The price is somewhat expensive (like everything in that city), but logically you pay for the show and it is worth it. The waiter who served us spoke Spanish. Keep in mind that upon arrival they ask for your credit card and they do not return it until departure.
Highly recommended place. We would repeat and recommend it.
My parents have been coming here for years, but today was their last time they would ever go. After they were seated, they ordered 3 drinks and some food. All of a sudden told them they have to switch my parents to a different section and said they had to order more food and drinks if they wanted to stay, so they did. 10 minutes later, they were handed the bill, which obviously means they wanted them to leave. No one else around then was given a bill. My parents were the only Asians there. They wanted to make more room for other people so racially discriminating is the right answer for them i guess. Horrible establishment.
Hilarious comedian opened up for a fantastic band. Guys at front door are insecure, power hungry guys that don’t set a good tone for the night. We had group of 15 that almost decided not to go in because of their aggressive behavior.
A club with live performances. Music and singers at a high level, fun atmosphere, the place in the basement has no reception, crowded, but very worth it, well-known covers, excellent sound quality, the food is reasonable minus, but you don't come for the food. Most valuable place in the Village
What a fun evening at the legendary Cafe Wha. The space is small but intimate, everyone sang and danced to the music. The basement has no reception or WiFi, if you're meeting a group it's best to get there at the same time or communicate beforehand.
Food was good and the staff are friendly. It's tight seating but the music is worth it!
We arrived on a Saturday evening for the 9 PM live band concert, we tried to order tickets the show. But it was already booked so we waited at the entrance before the show started, and they said if there will be seats available due to no-show of other people that booked it, they will seat us.
We waited for 20 minutes after 9 PM and luckily we got the last table.
They had stand-up comedy before the show started at 9: 30, and the music was good with lots of hits from the 70s 80s and 90s. As you can guess it’s a cover band.
I should mention that the cost of a ticket to a person it’s $20 and they obligate you to order two items from the menu. So keep that in mind before arriving.
Overall, it was nice 90 minutes experience and the vibes are fun and upbeat, it’s a cool vibrant place, and I highly recommend booking tickets in advance online.
So you won’t have to wait for 60 minutes in the line of with other people that are waiting for cancellations in order to get in.
Great option to spend an evening in an "institution" where Dylan and Hendrix debuted. The house band was wowww!
Food and wine - not the reason to come over.
Great place to see live music with a sweet historic past. Really intimate place where you are always close to the stage.

Great musical establishment!
Musicians atmosphere and welcome at the top
Place to discover for fans of good music
The band that played on 9/3 was amazing. 4 talented voices!
However, the evening is very expensive in my opinion.
Literally the best place ever for live music! Good band and food! Love it! I recommend going there 100%
It gets absolutely packed on weekends but fantastic music. If you can find some room to dance it's a very good time! I have to take a star off for just how insanely packed it was in there, tbh felt like a fire hazard
Jackie's attitude during our recent visit was less than satisfactory. I would recommend requesting assistance from another staff member if you have the option. My friend and I were hoping for a pleasant experience, but unfortunately, Jackie seemed determined to make things difficult for us from the jump. There was another staff member who was extremely helpful and accommodating when Jackie disappeared for hours. They readily answered any questions we had and even took the initiative to check in on us to ensure everything was going smoothly. Apart from that music and live performance was amazing!
Complete scam for tourists. They attracted us to the Funk night telling us that the entry was 15 $ with 2 drinks included. It seemed a good deal (I asked 3 times if I understood correctly) but when we entered another waiter told us the price was 15$ plus you must buy two items from the menu (total 30-40$). Unbelievable.
