Candlewood Suites New York City- Times Square, an IHG Hotel reviews
9Hotel is definitely a budget hotel. I don’t recommend the valet service. Takes a really long time to get car
If you want to be treated rudely and stay in a low quality room this is the place for you. They apparently had issues running my card and didn’t call me to let me know. The manager who checked me in told me I was lucky she didn’t cancel my reservation. I was then told they’d call when the room was ready. I called back at 3: 15 and they told me they had a shift change. That was a lie they had the same staff when I got back. The manager then falsely accused me of being rude on the phone when I called to check on the room. All I said is I wish someone would have let me know. I complained to the hotel chain but they didn’t do anything. I’m actually a member or was until this trip. Not sure membership matters if this is how they treat them.
Great stay. We loved our room with a little kitchen and the queen size bed at the 19 floor. Nice view. The room was really clean when we arrived, the bed is very comfortable, the little kitchen very functional. A little advice: more assets in the kitchen and maybe products to wash dishes or some oil / salt would be appreciated by customers! Also a change of sheets (not just the cleaning of the room once a week) would be appreciated. The laundry is a little bit old but functional. We loved stay here! Really near to all the great activities in New York. Great point: the free coffee if you want to take it! We will come back for sure! Thanks, Mr Mader and Miss Magaldi.
The hotel is awful, avoid at all cost if you can.
Firstly, there are serious problems with cleanliness: the rooms smell like feet. Windows are so dirty you can barely see outside. Room was not vacuumed on check in, I asked for it and nothing. Laundry machines are also very dirty, half are broken. People at reception were unresponsive to these concerns.
Secondly, there are serious noise problems. The air conditioner is so loud you cannot keep it on while in the room. Noise from the streets is also constant. Wall so thin you hear people from adjacent rooms.
They claim it has been "recently renovated", which simply cannot be untrue - air con is old, lifts occasionally broken, the bad smell of feet is everywhere (clearly carpets have not been cleaned for decades).
Finally, the area around Candlewood (39th Street and the surrounding few streets) is to put it mildly, quite dodgy and unsafe.
It was a pleasure to stay for 14 days, but at the last day I´ve received a package from the Rock and Hall Fame which never reached me. I´ve paid about 60 $ for that package. What is going on, No Info whatsover.
You own me 60 $ or the package.
Is a nice place to stay. Bad experience I got my Fly cancel do to weather wanted to stay another night a Hotel Room was already booked for someone else and there was no more room available. Disappointing. I was Homeless. Thank You Candlewood Suites New York
The best thing about this hotel is the location. It is a few minutes walk to times square and the subway.
However, it is well over due for a remodel. The rooms are dated, not very clean. Holes in walls, dirt floors and moldy showers.
Plus they have the nerve to charge you an additional $17 a day and all they give you is 2 bottles of water. They no longer clean your rooms daily and the "business center" is closed.
Why not be upfront and just charge more instead of sneaking another $17 out of your customers?
The room was deplorable. I paid my money for a quality room. I stayed for 8 days and my room was cleaned once. No garbage bags, paper towel, not enough towel.
Room/bathroom could do with a little updating, but great location, good size room, elevator, snacks.
