ER sucks when you're in Trama, they will make you wait no matter how bad you are! Go to Plattsburg NY, If you have time. If you have a real problem they will take you seriously and get you taken care of, not hour's!

1212/23. HORRIBLE experience with this ER. I go in with stroke symptoms. Half a dozen ppl come in and hook up machines. HOURS later I ask one of the so called "nurses" what's going on and I'm told. "it will be a couple hrs before the DR can get here to talk to you. That's just how it is in the ER. Tells me if I don't like it I can leave.so I left.
As I'm walking to my car I get some big Ole blowhard yelling at me to stop. Tells me he is in charge and demands I answer his questions or he will call the police.

Quality Healthcare right there folks

Nurses are very nice but total incompetence in terms of the rest of the staff and “doctors”. I wouldn’t take my goldfish to this hospital. Maybe they should stop building a new building and hire actual doctors who know what they’re doing and actually care about the patients. Stay far away from this place.

If you are in a lot of excruciating unbearable pain and most likely need a CT Scan Potsdam hospital is not the place to go. I can guarantee you no one in the ER at that time was in more pain than my wife yet she was informed it would be hours before she could get a scan and then hours after that before it would be read. Unfortunately 1 star is the lowest rating possible.

My daughter recently gave birth at the hospital and I have to say labor and delivery went well nice delivery nurse and the Dr was great. The second nurse who discharged her was down right rude. And basically ruined the happy time for my daughter. Making snarky rude comments and making us really uncomfortable. My daughter didn't deserve to be treated this way after having a baby.

I will agree with many other people that most of the employees are very nice people. However when it comes to dealing with medical problems and getting people better they are just very bad at it. My fiance has been in the ER twice this week going on about 14 hours with no end in site. Someone comes in every few hours to tell you they are busy, they have no clue and the goal is to get you out the door and will take all night to do it. We were in 2 days ago they sent her out after 5 hours and she was so sick she barley made it to the truck. I was warned about this place and didnt listen. Dont make my mistake. Again the people who work there are very nice people.

The reason for the 3 stars is because I was there Thursday Aug. 31st for knee replacement surgery. I had my boyfriend there with me and neither during nor after my surgery did anyone keep him informed of how I was doing or how surgery was going. He was a nervous wreck by the time he finally found out I was ok. He had to hunt someone down to find out.
Also, the room I was in had an older lady already in it. She spent the entire night after my surgery crying for help and refusing to use her own call button. No one gave her anything to calm her down, or contact anyone about the problems she had ALL NIGHT. And there was another old lady in the next room that screamed and cried from the time I got to my room until I checked out and left. Not one minute sleep did I get the entire time I was there.
It is very important to have a calm atmosphere after surgery for proper healing. I got absolutely nothing like that. The night nurses were not considerate at all when helping the other lady in my room. All around a very bad experience.

Let’s talk about unsafe patio-staff ratios…. 2 nurses does not cut it for 25 patients and a new admission. Only when pushed into a corner by a nurse quitting did the hospital miraculously find 4 nurses to cover the patient load. Sad! JUST SAD!

Please don’t go here. I couldn’t receive adequate care because they are extremely understaffed. They had nurses on 1: 10 ratios in high acuity areas. Going here is dangerous and the hospital should be SHUT DOWN

The only positives I've had are a handful of nurses, a couple doctors, and the team at Primary Care. I've had numerous issues with information not being documented or relayed to other staff, I've listened to ER staff make fun of low income patients or patients calling with questions, or those with mental illness, insult each other, cuss, and talk about the director's son being allowed to do whatever he wants - who by the way was verbally telling everyone he'll never be fired because of who is father is. He was also playing games on his phone, which is insanely unethical and disrespectful to everyone in the ER, both patient and staff.
Usually, ER is a decent experience and most staff - especially nurses - go above and beyond. However, I've had a few experiences where they tried to brush off my ailments as anxiety only to eventually find out I had a viral infection or lung issues, been prescribed the wrong medication before, and had literally no one answer calls for an hour or more.
My other issue is Dr. Gina Sam in Gastro and her receptionist, both of whom don't listen to patients, talk over you, ignore you, and the receptionist repeatedly hung up on me because she didn't want to be corrected regarding the wrong information that she had.
Lastly, I went to Physical therapy in Potsdam by Primary Care and sat there for nearly an hour, had a receptionist mumble "Jesus Christ, " when handing in forms she asked me to fill out because I apparently interrupted her, and when I decided to cancel and leave SUDDENLY my physical therapist was ready for my appointment.which was supposed to be an hour long but now would only be about 15 minutes. I obviously left and cancelled my appointments with this branch, but I needed the PT to get approved for an MRI that I very much need. I also watched an entire lobby of people come in after me and get seen before me.
I've called patient advocacy numerous times just to be ignored or have nothing taken care of.
Like I said, there's some wonderful providers and staff like Dr. Bonner in gastro, and Dr. Sprague, and Bernadette Avila of Primary Care, but sadly, there's far too many staff members that don't care, treat you like a burden, or display poor attitudes in general, and complaining to the patient advocates does nothing. This hospital and its affiliated practices used to be somewhat decent, but the bad seeds they keep around are ruining quality of care and patients' trust.

My ER experience was excellent. I was diagnosed with probable Afib. I was given numerous tests and admitted for further evaluation. Hospitalist, E Walter, the techs, the aides, the nurses, all 100%. Even the food wasn't bad. We need to be grateful that we have a Regional hospital to service the needs of our community. Typically, if circumstance exceed the capability of CPH, they transfer you out to a hospital that is better equipped to deal with your circumstances. Be thankful.

DO NOT TRUST ANYONE IN PATIENT CARE-THEY ARE INCOMPETENT - SURE, THEY DID A POWER OF ATTORNEY AND IT WAS ALL WRONG! NOT EVEN THE NOTARY PART WAS RIGHT. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. THESE PEOPLE ARE INCOMPETENT!

We have been dealing with CPH since December 27th. My sons 1st time there was great. He just spent a week there (Feb 1-8). This was a HORRIBLE experience for him. The doctors were great but the nurse (mostly night) were horrible to him and his girlfriend. I have text messages from him and her telling me what the nurse said to them. And of course anytime I was there the nurse were great. I hope he never has to experience this again
